Just me ...with a generic rant about fake people who create YT, IG or whatever blogs, vlogs, ..frogs or clogs or god knows what other crap they post online for poor saps to spend their cash on.

before I crack on I’ll temper it by saying I’m sure some content is interesting, useful, helpful to some people out there but on samples of what I’ve seen , albeit only minutes not hours....some of the free stuff is ok but I just don’t get the justification for the paid for content. And it’s especially galling when you then realise that a lot of these vloggers probably don’t actually need the cash...they just want someone else to bankroll their fantasy

I’m sure many people live vicariously through these chateau owners, wishing it was them....but please FGS if you really have all the spare time on your hands not to mention the spare cash why not donate it to a real genuine charity who needs help? Covid has decimated so many wonderful local causes and they’re desperate for help.

On TV a few days ago there was a 12yr old lad with lots of physical issues and learning difficulties after he suffered horrifc brain injuries at 2 days old. His name is Oliver Voysey. He had a wonderful personality and was doing little challenges leading up to his birthday this month to raise funds for a specialist outdoor activities center in the Lake district where he used to go on holidays with his family. So standing unsupported for 13 seconds was one challenge he did on TV . He’s up to about £62k as of now but the charity involved could lose £1m this year.

So....wouldn’t it be great if some of these odd fivers and tenners could be better spent elsewhere in these torrid times

Rant over, pours drink

"May all your doughnuts turn out like Fanny's"
Why would anyone dress like that to sit at home opening cardboard boxes in the middle of winter? I thought she was going to spill her melted camembert on her skirt, I was rather disappointed when she didn't! I see some of the gifters have got the measure of her: sending Playdough, a stole with a teddy bear on it, dolls' house crockery, and OTT sparkley gift wrap that a five year old girl would love; all certainly age appropriate for the 45 year old child! What dreadful Christmas stockings, but thy were the right giant size for the acquisitive queen. What's the betting that, by next Advent and Christmas, all this stuff will be lost or forgotten, never to be seen again?

I could throw something at the screen when I hear that awful laugh and the unnatural hand gestures. These gift grabs surely have to stop soon; they are abhorrent.

She thought it was hilarious that Selmar is always covered in stone dust after working on the tiles - really sympathetic of her; It will be her fault if his lungs are damaged. I wonder if his pride was hurt after all the criticism of his apple pies of which he was so proud.

Sorry, didn’t realise as a newbie to this thread. To be honest the whole patreon, YT paid for content is also new to me and so I’ve only understood it better since reading the comments here. In such terrible times as this, in the midst of a pandemic touching so many people it would be nice if people thought more about where and who they paid their money to

FFS! One of the minions commented under the latest Shit Unwrapped at the Chateau this regarding Stef having to ring Michael to see if he is okay:

Cyanide to the water system at "that" odious chato, you know which.

Seriously, cyanide at D&A's! I down thumbed that.

Also, I assume everyone is downthumbing the Sadie vlogs, and Shit Unwrapped, and IF Michael ever uploads a vlog?

And somehow I feel, Nati might be leaving as well when the Pandemic is under control. She used to travel the world, and don't think she's ready to settle in the middle of nowhere France.
So, I'm just an ordinary middle class working slob that has to pay my bills and plan for my future financially. And what about these other people, like Nati, Marie, Philip, Selmar, etc. Are they all just independently wealthy or something? Surely, they are not making much money working at the chateau? They're not working for any government that I know of, so no pension. And do any of them actually have a career anywhere, anytime in their lives? Really curious! And travel, last time I checked it still costs plenty of money to do that. Are they all just a bunch of professional moochers? Well, unless they have a nice trust fund, they may be in for a rude awakening when their youthful looks wear off and they're left with hand-me-downs from the chateau to see them through their old age. I think Selmar must have some other income.

Michael Potts paid €89,000 on 27/05/2019 for a 80 m2 three-room apartment in the château, which included a share in all the land. I think, although I'm not sure, that the rest of the château is owned 50-50 by Stephanie and the camera-shy fellow with the bag over his head.

Stephanie's got a siret number (company registration number) for the chambres d'hôtes business but most of her (tax-free) income comes from her activities on YouTube. She's now getting nearly €20,000 a month from Patreon plus revenue from YouTube, which means there'll be a hefty tax bill to pay. Tax evasion in France is a very serious matter and is punishable by a hefty fine and/or a prison sentence.

According to my calculations, Stephanie should be paying €9,407 per month in tax.

And Michael Petherdick should be paying €970 per month in tax.

Stephanie's annual tax bill is/should be €112,884

Michael's annual tax bill is/should be €11,640

They're all living off tax-free Patreon/YouTube dosh. It's all completely unregulated. The whole thing's a scam!

I'm with you, no trust fund baby here
I know of people who travel the world couch surfing, doing odd jobs, selling stuff they handmake like bracelets, and somehow manage to see the world this way, backpacking. Who knows if they care about their future when they are old, and maybe yes, Lalande could be the perfect retirement home for them, so SJ is never alone.

She always thinks it's hilarious when people are working hard but Selmar is a grown man and responsible for taking care of his health when working. I tell ya, she is starting to behave like that imbecile Marie Antoinette of whom she is so proud to be associated with! And poor Selmar, he is a gentle soul. I can't stand his goofy laugh though (I know, I know very catty). I know that what I'm going to say is a horrible generalization, but I have known a few men in my life who get very sensitive about their cooking. They seem to think that whatever they turn out should be highly prized and admired by all. Personally, I wasn't impressed by those pastries. They were more an exercise in folding dough than turning out something delicious. I don't think Selmar was really into this whole cooking competition thing to begin with, it's not his forte. And when he originally said he was going to make his apple cake (which is really a pie) I thought "NO! Not again" it's a competition you need to up your game! I never did understand the banana thing at all.

Yes, a retirement home for moochers and other weirdos! They will definitely need to have a Patreon account and live chats to fund that.

If I understand correctly, if you downthumb a video, that gives them revenue also. Until I know for certain I wont
