I think you have a typo I've checked and spelling was scotchette (like a little Scotch)

I tried a little test the other day because I thought I had seen it both ways! I could only find sans the first t.

Also, nowadays I like to be in bed and asleep before midnight. For me it removes the stress and expectations of the new year and makes it just another day/night.
