Watching one last night where Jo chews the ears of Max, while standing up for her new team. She reminds Max that she now has her stripes and that she doesn't work for him anymore. Excellent!

I was trying to remember the ending of the necklace story, as I was watching - it was good! I always loved Reg too. It's very enjoyable watching those older ones where a lot of the ones I really liked are featured.
There are some good storylines in the final series but I didn't like the changes they made, overall.

I was about to comment here that the older series includes the storyline about Ray Moore. Remember Ray Moore and how often Heaton mentioned Ray Moore, Ray Moore, Ray Moore.

When Heaton first arrived I thought I'd never like him. He and Gina were constantly at odds at first, and then they grew to respect each other. He ended up being a multi faceted character, and I missed him when he left. I really don't like the rate at which characters were written out in the final series.
I got to watch Phil's last hurrah in uniform last night. The one where he grabbed the bike to pursue a criminal.
Still watching the final series, some good storylines, despite everything. I can't warm to Max, and he features in quite a few of these. One of the few characters that I didn't ever get to like.
I loved the storylines in the final series, it was the music and darkness that spoilt it!
Loved the bits of humour that was in it too. I was the same with Max, so annoyingly smug!
Some great storylines. Yes, the darkness and the music just made a mess of it. I also wish they didn't sideline Callum so much in it.
Yes, to me, every other character had more than one side to them. And I know they want to portray Max as basically being a bit of an a in general (like Mickey referring to him sarcastically as Sergeant Sensitive behind his back), but that's all that's to him, imo.

There's also bits that don't quite work, which would have worked previously imo. Jack insists at one point on Jo being the main person involved in a case, when Neil had already asked Grace to be involved. Then there's a scene at the end where Jack basically tells Neil off about having favourites.
It just didn't quite work, for me, and I think it's partly down to filling time with music and flashing scenes.
