I’m torn on the issue of funerals. On one hand I think it’s the last thing you do for someone, both my Mum and Dad wanted to be buried so I respected their wishes. I remember reading about people being buried alive at a young age and it became nightmare fodder. After my Dad’s funeral I had recurring nightmares about being trapped, worms, decomposition etc. i feel ‘twitchy’ just recalling if!

On the other hand for me personally I couldn’t care less about having a funeral service and would like my body to be dealt with in whatever way is the most eco friendly at the time. That said I’m aware that my family might need a funeral for closure and I quite fancy having ‘Circle of Life’ or ‘Highway to Hell’ played.
Ha! My dad had Haakon Hardenberger doing a bit of Purcell on the way in ( I used the same piece for the recessional at my wedding ), Let it be and Meatloaf on the way out - Heaven can Wait, because my nans would have expired on the spot if it had been Bat out of Hell . He actually said he wanted 'Light my fire' if he got cremated when it ever came up, but he got planted so we went with his favourites . My brother in law was aware he was dying so he picked the music, Baba o'Reilly on the way in and he wanted the curtains to go round to Always Look on the Bright side of Life and for people to sing along

I want to know more about the boyfriend that Archie said was being abusive towards him.
I think a whole load of stuff like this will be revealed. I definitely want to know more about him. I would be interested to know what her neighbours think too

Many parents of children with SEN are breathtakingly entitled. That’s speaking from personal experience. They seem to forget that the the world doesn’t revolve around their child and their child’s needs and schools will have 30 odd other kids in a class that are just as important and have just as much right to be happy and safe in their learning environment. Sorry if that offends anyone, but its how I’ve seen it time and time again. Also many of them have obviously undiagnosed needs themselves. Especially when it’s comes to things like autism and adhd.
Having worked in SEN education in the past, this is so accurate - and I say this as someone with an adult diagnosis of ADHD.

Some kids at my workplace were likely to be in a supported environment for the rest of their lives, often with 2:1 care due to behavioural and medical issues. Their parents were, on the whole, totally understanding of staff when behavioural issues were raised, and recognised their childrens' limitations/strengths/likely outcomes.

Parents of the kids on the more 'able' end were bleeping insufferable. We had students in GCSE classes who would piss about as children do, but when this was raised with parents we'd be met with excuses about the child's diagnosis - we even had parents refuse to let their child attend detention as they thought it was 'unfair'. However, when these kids played up at home we'd have parents screaming down the phone to us and the local authority about how we were 'failing' their child, how they wanted them moved (when many of these kids had been booted out of every school in a 50 mile radius), and how they'd be going to the press about us.

This seemed to me to become more prevalent with the current mistrust of experts/professionals, and if getting the parents of SEN kids to respect the opinions of specifically trained staff then I can't imagine how hard it is in mainstream.

These kids are absolutely set up to fail when it comes to living in the real world, more recently and since moving to a new career field I have had the parent of a new starter call me to make excuses for him when I had to give negative feedback to him in a meeting. This guy was 22 💀💀💀

My mum passed away around Christmas just as we went into the second lockdown. I was adamant I didn’t want to see her after she passed. But my brother and other family members wanted her home. Not religious just a family tradition. We couldn’t due to covid. Our funeral directors were amazing. She looked so ill in her final days/weeks that when we all went to see her she just looked so well and peaceful. Like she was sleeping. No mad makeup up hair. Just exactly like my little Mum. I went nearly every day. The funeral was just a basic funeral, but it was lovely that’s how she wanted it. Nothing over the top. Just a shame restrictions were in place. 30 people when you’ve got a big family doesn’t to very far 😂

Agree with Steve here
Are you just ignoring everything people are replying? Have you read anything factual about the case?
They weren’t ‘taken to court’. The family refused mediation and pushed it to court themselves.

Thanks for reply but people are sort of describing as if someone is rotting away throughout their body completely left on life support - but that doesnt happen quote like that does it ? ive read in USA when people dont want withdrawal they go from hospital to another facility and looked after till die or occasionally come out of coma . ( grateful of any info , thanx ) i realise there are all sorts of bodily functions to go on to sustain life and maintain a balance of everything and it cant keep going if not and u will die even if on life support .

There is a difference between a coma, brain injury, and brain death. This is where the reporting is poor.

The scans conclusively show that Archie’s brain was decomposing and had no blood supply for a minimum of a month.

In the same way you could not retrieve a body from the graveyard and expect it to recover on life support, or expect a decapitated head to be re attached, if the brain has decomposed, there is no road back.

This is absolutely not the same situation as a coma where although the brain might not be working, it is physically intact.

You should read the court transcripts, it makes it very clear why the situation was impossible.

I can assure you organs necrose despite a pulse and circulation all the time (I work in icu with life support) so forgive me for being wary of people who think they know everything because of something they found on the internet (not trying to be rude but it’s really important people understand Archie’s brain was dead, not just injured.) he was not in a coma, sleeping or in a vegetative state, his brain had died and was indeed decomposing.
Thank you again , im just trying to find out everything i can . i see what you mean about bad reporting / ive seen his condition descibed as coma , vegative state and brain stem dead. !
and wondered why different terms being used . !
So glad to have found someone working in ICU that can explain things to me ( as u can probably tell my biology knowledge , goes back to about 2nd year of senior school and stopped there and even then not so good ! LOL .)
Can you explain roughly if someone was left in Archies state , on life support , how long they might live and what the process may be like till they actualy die .
Thanking you .🌺

I wonder if the mother herself has oppositional defiance disorder, adhd or anti social personality disorder. She certainly ticks enough boxes. If adhd isn't parented effectively it can certainly go wrong and these kids need a lot of support, discipline and guidance which archie certainly lacked.
I think all little kids regardless of whether they have ADHD, actually thrive on boundaries and guidance?
From experience with my kids,i think they feel more secure knowing they have rules to follow if that makes sense...

I found this very interest indeed. HD was playing the blame game 4 years ago too. I was scouting around for some background info.

It appears as though she's had many stints with courts, liars and corruption - also blaming her child having SEN on the fact the school wouldn't have him, it definitely doesn't work like that and I'm no specialist in children behaviour.

There is only so many times you can try and blame others before you have to realise that, in fact, you are the problem.

I believe she 'fought to the end' because she is hiding something very dark that will come out eventually and bite her on the a and she wants to pull the sympathy card first.

AA lost 400 members overnight, it won't be long before the rest toddle off and cling onto some other dying child..
ASD here and I am tit with hints...what is the very dark thing people keep referring to that they think may have happened?

oh , and also apart from thanks for all information , Thanks for describing the dying processes in a much better medical way ( deteriorating and decaying ) than just " rotting " . 🌺

I am thinking of that poor child tonight.
I hate to think that a twelve year old wanted to end his own life.

Someone said this upthread and I was thinking the same thing - I am not sure that some people, particularly younger people (or in this case a child) realise the finality of suicide.

He hadn't a great life from the snippets that have been revealed. I imagine it was lonely and friendless. I hope I am wrong. It's horrible to see that he wasn't even given dignity in death by the one person on whom he should have been able to rely.

May he rest in peace, poor child. It's all so very sad.

That
There was a Just Giving aswell that had around 10k in it

ETA both together are at £45,872
That money isn't needed now, well not all of it..
I spent lots of time in hospital with my son when he was small. He had lots of allergies, peanut allergy being the life threatening one..
Imagine he never actually ate a peanut, and after the testing it came back that it was his largest problem..Also grass and pine trees etc triggered him and awful hayfever..Basically he was allergic to processed food, projectile vomited a few times, when he was introduced to say the likes of a cereal like coco pops etc..
Anyhow, sorry I'm off on a tangent ,didn't mean to ..We spent alot of money while he was in Hospital, and lost work also so I understand that it may be the case with Archies parents..
Myself and my husband just got behind

Oh god 😪 I want to know that too,I didn't realise there was a "very dark thing" ..
I don't for a minute think poor Archie was doing an online challenge..I believe that poor little child was trying to commit suicide 😢

Does this read that Hollie was asking for the opportunity to let him ‘turn blue’ so he would breath for himself as she believed he would do? I don’t understand what she’s getting at. Seems a little fixated on this blue thing perhaps?

So many different explanations for the death of a child. : here’s hoping the investigation will not be mild!
I expect and hope that they will be very, very thorough! No stones left unturned. I am sure that investigations have already been going on for months. I reckon HD will get whiplash with the speed that things will turn some time after the funeral. Patience is a virtue!

It looks like...... she actually still expected him to wake up or something? And something about disability discrimination? And maybe he wouldn't have turned blue if he'd flattened on ventilator? I don't know, I just woke up.

This could really backfire though. With such a high profile case and with all the courts interventions her review will mean a full investigation into how Archie came to end up in hospital.
They are going to review exactly what happened to him and highlight all the inconsistencies in her story.
They will also look at how she refused tests to be conducted etc.
Had to come back when I read HD wants an enquiry as they had no rights in all of this. Why can't she understand it wasn't about HER but was about Archie's rights? The hospital acted in his best interests because she acted in her own interests. What a vile specimen she is and is still being given far too much airtime to spew her venom 😡

I’ve heard so much about a ‘muvvas rites’.
Parents don’t have ‘rights’ in this country. They have responsibilities. It’s the child who has rights.

Iv just read some background very very sad case.
His mum seems like she struggled with him and didn’t receive much support. Suppose to help parent a child with additional needs.
And I doubt any person in here have ever lost a child in these circumstances or infect lost a 12 year old i as a parent would probably do the same waiting for a miracle unbearable pain.
There was never going to be a miracle. Archie was sadly brain dead.

The mum's story around what happened on 7 April has varied several times and not been entirely consistent, I'm sure I saw it somewhere that there were around 11 versions.

They say it's easy to tell a story that's true but difficult to maintain a narrative that isn't. A few folks have also picked up on her body language & behaviour during interviews as being a bit at odds with what is being said.

Just another lurker breaking free from lurkerdom, I’ve followed various threads for months on here but this is the first time Ive felt so strongly about something that I had to register to comment. A very emotive case which seems to have got a few of us doing the same thing.

My take, like many here, is that she’s lying. About what, I don’t know, but she’s lying about something. When someone lies they tend to exaggerate and tell ridiculous amounts of unnecessary details, the clip on This Morning with Phil and Holly highlighted this the most, she was talking blankets, how many doors, rabbits, neighbours and her trying to get him down (she couldn’t lift her 12 yr olds weight?) running outside ? Back in again to save him herself… what?
The suggestion of the TikTok challenge immediately, why? Who presumed it’s an online challenge straight away? Why would that be your first thought? Was he filming himself on his phone? If he wasn’t filming it, it wasn’t a challenge, what would be the point without proof? so why encourage that line of thinking? Cos she knew ppl who only heard bad stuff about these apps and challenges would all believe it, but why not just accept he tried to take his own life? The first story released and it being so salacious is bound to be headline catching and more likely to become the narrative. Gaslighting? By making it look like they’re the victims of a social media trend shes more likely to get sympathy than be vilified for a boy of his age being so desperately sad?
Shes always been quite media savvy, photos/stories in the papers… glass from a broken phone box, eye drops error, straight to the media, does that sortve thing pay? or is it just attention?

All I see is Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Münchausen syndrome or ‘Factitious disorder imposed on another’ as its now known as.

So many different but very detailed stories - also why, if she was also upstairs and feet away from him maybe separated by a door, I don’t imagine her house is massive? Why didn’t she hear anything? Surely he must’ve been struggling for a few minutes??

I can’t work out what she’s lying about but she’s lying
