When my mum passed away, my then 17 year old daughter decided she wanted to see Mum in the Chapel of Rest the day before the funeral. We tried to talk her out of it but she was adamant, so being the dutiful mum that I was, I couldn;t let her go alone and I went with her. I wish I hadn't but wanted to support my daughters wishes. My daughter and I have never spoken about it but I hope it brought her some comfort even tho it didn;t for me.I did too until my Mum passed away and they explained it to me there, so was 28. I was like dafuq. Had to as my Grandparents & Auntie insisted on having Chapel of rest viewings and was 3.5 weeks until funeral. Me and my Brother did not go and I regret nothing.
