The Archers #2

Not heard from Jim and Alistair in a while. Tracy mentioning them reminded me they existed - i now miss them!
They must've heard you! In part - we got Alistair. But no Jimus. Although he was mentioned as having a Kindle.

And wow Stella does not want children Pip 😬 And certainly not to be pregnant. Of course Pip misses all the obvious signs from Stella and blunders on wittering on about it.

Is something going to happen on this coach trip on Friday to see the cricket? They keep going on about it.

The Archers got a brief mention in Conversations from a Long Marriage this week. (I think they were referring to Lynda Snell).
Nice little crossover for this thread 😀

Is that really the send off for Jim?! He’s one of my favourites, I’ll be so sad if we don’t hear him again.

I would think almost certainly, He’s also 86 years old and hasn’t been heard on the show for ages. Additionally Friday’s podcast was all about Jim but he wasn’t in the studio, Alistair and Jazzer were studio guests. Worth a listen if anyone hasn’t heard it, the podcast is on every Friday right after Friday’s episode. Last Friday they played a lot of archive material featuring Jim, really enjoyable.

OK folks .. time for a debrief.

Brian knows, obviously as he was there.

Ian knows. We knew that.

George has been told but doesn't believe. We knew that.

Now Brian knows that Ian knows.

We now know that Ian has threatened to tell George.

Ian doesn't think George knows and doesn't know he has been told and doesn't believe.

An important point: Brian also doesn't know that George has already been told and doesn't believe.

No-one except Brian knows that Ian has threatened to tell George.

No-one except Brian and Ian knows that Brian knows that Ian knows.

Now, I think I've got that right. 🤔

Lilian knows too right? And obviously Adam. Appreciate you’re just listing out the current conundrum but feel like most of Ambridge knows at this point and am amazed no one thinks that ethically they should tell the police!

Just a bit of Saturday fun .. and yes know that Lillian knows but otherwise can’t think of anyone else in the know.
Otherwise [generally, not directed at you personally] … it is not against the law to not report a crime you know about to the police,

Lottie, girlfriend of Chris, has a voice that's too similar to Alice, ex-wife of Chris

That reminds me what's happened to Marky and his gang? Has the fact George grassed them up been dropped?

Sad to hear Paddy Green 'Jill' has died. I presume they don't have to kill her off on the programme any time soon as she hasn't appeared for ages.

It’s v boring at the moment. The only storyline I’m vaguely interested in is Helen and Tom’s wrestle for money/ control.

Devastated Bert is back. He’s so negative and rude.

I wish they would go a bit deeper with the succession stuff. It’s such a juicy area when it comes to farming. I liked it back in the day when Natasha tried to edge into the main house and turf pat and Tony out.

I know several farming families where it is still very much - the farm goes to the oldest son - and then the oldest son gets married and the new wife is delighted at her good fortune only to be essentially waiting forever. Then when they do get into the main homestead, it’s never really theirs. Good old mother in law disapproving of everything. I love it 😂😂😂

I don’t know what it is with the succession stuff but it’s just poorly done. I’m not really rooting for anyone and they’re all unlikable so maybe it’s that. It also feels like it’s being progressed too fast and slow at the same time

George and Amber are basically carrying the story for me at the moment and they’re not particularly interesting

It's like how Ruth and David managed to alienate Josh so much he's fecked off thousands of miles away.
Of course sainted cat Pip would get 99.9% of the farm. And then dense Ruth 'do you think we've upset him?' 🤦‍♀️
I'm hoping at some point he'll sell his 30 acres for a large housing estate or industrial complex just to piss off his smug sister.

Ok a second storyline I’m into is Stella having zero desire to expand the family and Pop absolutely wanting more kids.

I think the Harrison and Fallon end of marriage stuff is being done well. The constant misunderstandings and and flat tones with each other. I hope the woman who had the hots for Harrison follows him down and Fallon has to navigate her being on rural team. Meanwhile Harrison begins to lead a double life.
That said, when Fallon was trapped in the car in the river and thought she was about to die, it really got me when she cried out his name 💔
