I personally wouldn't use this phrasing, as it reads as though something bad has happened, which it hasn't, you just preferred the other company. I would be honest and say that you received another offer, which you've accepted, thanks for the opportunity... - I wouldn't say, "so sorry to mess you around" either, even if you feel that way, it's better to keep a professional and less personal front!
Good point, a conflict avoidant part of me has surfaced it seems 😩 😅

Does it still sound good if I drop the second sentence and don't add anything else?

you could say something like: due to another offer, I wish to withdraw from my position as (role title) with (company's name)...

congratulations on your new job btw 🤗

Thank you both! I have been so unhappy in my current role, so I am sure this will feel great once this has been sent and sorted :D

Don't worry. I think my reply was a bit blunt actually when it wasn't meant to be rude either, I was just trying to be helpful 🙂.

What a horrible situation. I think just being there for her is probably enough. You don't need to say anything except acknowledgement of how tit it is.

The only other thing I can suggest is more a what not to do. A few years ago one of my children had tests for suspected Lymphoma. The wait for the results was torture. I spent a lot of time on the internet researching. Journals, studies, scientific papers, anything I could set my eyes on. Somebody told me I should stop reading things. Reading things was the only control I had and their comment infuriated me. So I suppose my advice would be let her do what she needs to do, whatever that is. Just be close and ready to listen.
🤍
Thank you. And I’m sorry you’ve been though this crappy long wait torture.

What would be the best thing to do/say in this situation? Sorry if it is long and confusing.

I hated my job, applied for 2, got 2 interviews, got offered both. Happy days. (This was about a month ago)

The one I preferred required 3 references, all with 13 questions each. This took a while to sort out. I'd only had a conditional offer, and I was told after the referencing was all done I'd get a start date. In the meantime I didn't want to reject the other job, because if anything happened I'd be back to square 1.

The other job were aware my manager was on annual leave, but they kept sending emails pushing me to accept the job offer online. She said on Friday if I don't accept by midday they're giving the job to someone else regardless. I panicked and accepted as I was waiting on a message from the job I want.

Today I have had a start date confirmed for my new job at the company I want to work for, I've handed in my notice at the current job and now I just need to tell the other one I won't be starting with them..

Does this sound okay? I wish I didn't have to accept it but it was push push push.

Good Afternoon,

I am really sorry but I need to withdraw myself from the role of XXXXXXXX with yourselves.

Something beyond my control has arisen, I am so sorry to mess you around

Thanks for the opportunity
XXXXX

I need advice on how to deter a cat from using my front garden as a litter tray.

I have a flower bed and gravel driveway.

A cat was using the flower bed as a litter tray so I was clearing it up and tried every trick in the book but nothing worked. Eventually bought some cat scatter spray and followed the instructions and it seemed to stop, until we went away for a week and couldn't keep up the spraying.

We came back to the flower bed literally covered in cat tit.

Cleared it up and started the process with cat scatter again but now it is shitting on the gravel too!!

I am at the end of my tether with it.

I would get one of them things that makes noise but the reviews are all bad. I can't see the cat from my office so I also can't spray it with water or whatever to scare it off.

But I am fed up of the front of my house being covered in tit, any advice appreciated. Thank you.
Oh gosh we had the same issue. In the end, the only thing that worked was those sensor things which do a high pitched beep. We just got ours from Amazon and no more litter tray!

It helps to give a reason - especially if another role pays more. It can all be useful feedback to the senior bods. I'm in HR and we've had a right battle with poaching staff and high turnover, using those bits of feedback from declines & withdrawls is helping us push for higher salaries 🤞

Does anyone know if you can remove the “for sale” sign from your home when it’s sold subject to contract? I see a lot of houses have theirs changed to “sold stc”. But a house near me has removed the sign completely, but it’s showing as sold stc online. Is this down to the hone owner, or do the estate agents have rules about how long you have to keep a sign up for?

Tbh it's really up to you an what the new owners want, first house we sold we took it down before the put sold on it because new owners didn't care for it, second time the new owners wanted the sold sign in the garden as it was first home for them an they wanted a pic holding keys outside it, some company's do prefer to keep it up with its sold on it cause its a good look for them if others see that but really so long as you know its definitely sold then you can do whatever with the sign, some houses round here don't even bother with a sign in the first place now since they know people are going see it online anyway

Thank you! That’s useful to know. It’s actually because I want these people to have a successful sale (as do many people on my street as they’re not the easiest neighbours 😁). When I saw the sign had gone, I thought I had jinxed myself and they’d taken it off the market (because they have done so before) but it’s still sold stc on the website 🤞

😅 Fingers crossed for you then, yeah it could be they just don't want the sign anymore in the garden or the new owners don't want to deal with it an have asked them to take care of it before they move since when you want rid of it you have to go through the bother of getting someone out to take it an honestly it can take forever lol

My sister just sold hers and they didn't change her sign until the contracts were signed ,maybe incase the sale falls through ? you could always ring and ask them .

You don’t have to have a sign up at all, so it’s up to you to do as you please. Two of my neighbours put theirs up for sale, no boards and I only know as I’m nosey about prices so regularly check my area online.

when I put an offer on on my house and it was accepted, one of the conditions where it went off any selling websites and the sign came down. The owner was more than happy to agree :) at the end of the day they want their house sold

I need shopping advice! I was given an Amazon Aus voucher for $100(AU) and I’m feeling a bit paralysed with how to spend it. My normal go-to would be to get something practical for the house or family, but I want to treat myself. How would you spend the money? What would you buy? I need ideas! Thanks

Honestly whenever am given gift vouchers I always see that as money I would never have had in the first place so I usually treat myself with something, unless it was somthing I desperately needed an just couldn't afford it then I don't feel guilty allowing myself to have a treat

Maybe get yourself a treat an then what's left over get something pratical?

I would get some nice cosmetics/personal care items myself but if you feel guilty you could get something practical but that makes your own life easier so it’s a bit of both, a treat and a household item.

I promise I’m not dirty when I say this
But for about a few days now I’ve had no more than 2-3 flies in my house. I’ve hunted high and low to see if there’s something they are attracted too. But have been unable to find anything. I’ve cleaned up. I’ve mopped up. Ive bleached. I’ve used zoflora. I’ve just (within last hour) moved my outdoor bins as they were originally under the kitchen window (on outside) I empty my kitchen bin regularly but I can’t seem to get rid of them! I’ve left windows open. They don’t seem to leave. They’re not multiplying either. So doesn’t seem to be somethinf that will cause an infestation but they are SO annoying. It seems like the same 2-3 all the time. How can I get rid of them?
