Glad you got sorted 🥰 I am the same with certain things too so you’re not alone lol the web assistants are so handy and give you more time to think before answering lol

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I thought there was a scam thread but could not find it.

Straight from the City of London Police fraud team - Extremely sophisticated scam going about this week, involving all banks. You get a message saying a payment hasn’t been taken e.g O2, Vodafone, 3, Giff Gaff or EE and to click here. As soon as you touch it your money is gone. They already have all your details and it’s the most advance scam the bank has ever seen. Pass this on to everyone please. This is straight from work this morning - the banks are being inundated with calls - thousands flying out of peoples accounts! Spread the word to your family and friends!”
Be vigilant !!!!

As confirmed by Martin Lewis this morning!

My OH has lost his passport and we go on holiday in about 6 weeks! We’ve turned the house upside down trying to find it but no luck. We are trying to sort out a new one via 1 week fast track, but when we click the link to book an appointment and pay it says there are non available! We’ve been checking constantly over the last 24 hours including through the night and first thing this morning. It says ‘extra’ appointments will be added but I have yet to see any. What are we meant to do if we can’t even get an appointment? We have all the forms filled in and new photos that have been co-signed and the money is waiting in the bank to be paid. Just want to get it sorted now. Would calling the passport advice line be of any use? Really starting to panic now.

Have you look at going to the embassy? Sorry if that's what you are looking at.

Im not sure where the appointment for 1 week fast track will be, I’d imagine my nearest city. But if we have to go to the embassy then we will do that. Going to give it another couple of days of trying to get this appointment then we are going to call the passport line I think. It’s ridiculous if you ask me. It says there is high demand and they will add extra appointments so keep checking, but they never show on the site.

Quoting myself but just wanted to say we finally got an appointment. Have to drive a couple of hours to Peterborough but what ever it’s worth it. Panic over.

I’m glad you got it sorted. We had to wait ages for ours and there’s been lots of delays at the passport offices (we applied online).

Are you in the uk? I don’t think they have anyone answering the calls to the advice line at the moment 🙈 they generally release dates for the emergency appointments first thing in the morning so I’d try 6/7am in the morning to see if you can get a slot. If there is none there it then means they are all booked. Another option is to reach out via twitter, they are apparently active on there.

ETA just seen you got an appointment 😁😁

Is the embassy where you go when you lose your passport when you are already away on holiday?
Yes but there are some in the UK where you can go and get a passport in the day, generally in big cities. I know there is one in London where you can get a Uk passport there and then. The ones abroad usually only issue emergency travel documents to get you home.

Hi all. I’ve got a question about my iPhone.. I didn’t know where to ask it!

when I go outside into the sun (like right now 🤣) my phone dims really low even though it’s on full brightness? But I can’t see anything? This must be a design flaw, because I need it tobe brighter in the sun not dimmer. So weird! It just does it automatically 😤😤😤

Think it’s the same on all iphones. I just cover the screen with my hand to see something.

Not really a problem, more looking for suggestions… does anyone know of semi fitted lounge wear that doesn’t make you look slobbish? I’d love a black co ord set that looks out together rather than my usual track pants and T-shirt. Something that looks out together if you know what I mean?

Next have a few bits. Soft but smartish trousers that would go with a comfy tshirt. I've got a couple of pairs I wear at home, like a smarter, lighter jogger. Some of them have matching tops instead of just wearing whichever tshirt falls out of the drawer first.

I got some really cute and flattering ones off shein and isn't that expensive either

I don't need advice on this one but opinions.

I received this PM on FB from someone that I have only interacted with once or twice on our towns local FB pages.

In your opinion what do you think she is asking me for?

Good evening Purrrrrrr this is a bit of a long shot and probably very short notice. I’m reaching out for support and can’t think why we haven’t met as we’re both on the same page regarding the covid jab etc.
I’m currently going through some mental health issues and I find the ( removed the name but its a a garden centre a bit out of my area) so very therapeutic. Would you be interested in going for a coffee there tomorrow and I will cover petrol costs? I know a lot of people who drive but most of them just don’t message or respond to me like they use to. It’s probably too short notice. Hope you’re well.

I will post my reply and her reply back tomorrow but just wanted some feedback on this as I totally read it wrong. but no matter how many times I read it and even with her reply etc it still reads the same way to me

Hmmm, I get the vibe you are being shamed for not reaching out to them and also they are emotionally loading this onto you by saying others haven't bothered. That's how I read it. It sounds like a demand that will leave you being the bad guy if you are not available quick enough for their liking? 🤔

On the other hand if they are genuinely struggling I feel for them. How well do you know them?

It seems like an awkward position to put you in, committing you to essentially a day out of your time with no notice. I wonder if a compromise could be a phone call, or pointing them to a listening service or local service?

As a complete stranger, sounds to me that they are lonely and wantan ear/a friendship?

Am I also reading correctly that they want a lift, i.e. for you to drive?

All in all, I’d say maybe a BIT presumptuous to suggest you picking them up and driving to their choice of place for first time meeting, but they chose the place for a reason (therapeutic) and did offer to pay petrol so I wouldn’t be too put off by it. Do you get good vibes from them/do they seem like someone you’d get on with?

editing To add, as above poster ^^^ said I also agree it puts you in an awkward position, given that you have to drive to and from and that it’s a bit out of the area. And very short notice.
