Does anyone have any tips for settling into a new job? I’m really enjoying it so far but starting to feel a little overwhelmed as obviously being new, I’m still learning all the routines and how things are done. I’ve learnt things pretty quickly so far, but have been picked up on a few minor mistakes today which although my boss was really nice about it, it has knocked my confidence a bit and I’m doubting myself, I think it’s my anxiety. I know starting a new job is difficult, I want to keep a positive mind set and not let my personal issues ruin this for me, it’s only been a week so I guess I need to not be so hard on myself. It’s gone a lot better than I originally imagined.
It takes a good 6 to 12 months to really settle in to
Most jobs and feel completely comfortable. You’ve only been there 1 week!!!!! Give yourself a break. Take the pressure off. The things you were picked up on today - stop viewing that as “mistakes” - you are new, and you are learning the ropes. Don’t over think it.

Thanks for this, it’s all true. A week is nothing really is it?

That’s a big problem of mine - over thinking and putting pressure on myself.

Now that they changed the rule on PCR/Lateral Flow Test, how the hell do I get one now? Hubby just tested positive and I now need to test for myself.

Anyone know if theres places to store luggage in London? I'll be down mid week, we get there around lunch time an the hotel I believe seems fine at taking the luggage till check in an we get our room, however check out is 11am an that's them done with us which I obviously expect, we won't be getting the train home till around 7pm or 8pm, I don't really want to be going round London with my suitcase for that long plus honestly it's just going get in the way

Its going be kings Cross we leave from so preferably I'd like somwhere close or the station to store it

Is it possible that the train station will have luggage storage?

I’d be interested to know this too actually as we plan on visiting London over night by train at some point this year. I know airports often have lockers you can store your luggage in but not sure about train stations.

Am hoping that's the case, I've never been to London so I don't know what anything there has, I know our train stations don't have anything like that but with London being such a large city an having thousand of tourists in an out I'd like to think there would be somthing

I'll be there end of this month, if I don't get a answer then I'll let you know what I find

Won’t the hotel keep it? I always ask hotels to keep my luggage after I check out and then I collect it in the evening.

I can ask them but am not expecting it, I've never been to this hotel so I don't know if they will just say no since after check out they really have nothing to really do with us then, I think most travel lodges an the such usually say no so am just assuming they will work a similer way

Phone the hotel and ask? Most hotels do offer a left luggage option. Anyway, yes, the main train & bus stations have luggage lockers, obviously you have to pay for them but they are there. Try googling the station you are leaving from, look to see if they have it and then drop your stuff off so it’s easy to collect when you are heading home

almost all the major stations in london have left luggage options - kings cross certainly does because i used it a few years back! if the hotel won’t let you leave your luggage there then i’d just pop over to the station and book it in :)

sorry if tmi but im burping a lot, the ones that taste liek
Rotten egg 🤢 I had some onions rings on Saturday which I think triggered it
Nope - you’ve more than likely got the h - pylori infection. Rotten egg smelly burps are a common symptom, as are other general indigestion type symptoms.

have you ever had a stomach ulcer?? Do you have any omeprazole in the house? That is very good at calming it down but it’s only on prescription.

Try to get to your Doctor tomorrow if you can, tell them your symptoms and say you’ve got the eggy burps and think it’s h-pylori. They may ask for a stool sample so if you can, gross as it may be, try to get one.

They cam test for h-pylori via blood so don't worry it may not involve a stool sample. Worth getting checked though as it can be easily treated.

Other than that I'd second the Omeprozole. I had awful regurgitation (for want of a better word. It wasn't diagnosed as anything specific) for a while a few years ago and was prescribed it for a while. Pretty much solved the problem and I no longer need to take it regularly now.

thanks for the replies. No I haven’t got a stomach ulcer. I woke up about an hour ago and was sick and have the worst stomach cramps. 🤢
