I bought something called "Second Skin" (there's other knockoff brands which are great as well), which is a wound plaster specifically made for tattoos. I bought mine off Amazon. Ask your tattoo artist about if you're unsure about it but I personally would never go back to regular tattoo aftercare with the painful scabs and the blood plasma everywhere and the Sudocrem etc.

For one of my tattoos the artist applied it directly after and I left it for about a week; the other wasn't happy about Second Skin (he's old school) so I applied it myself at home by cleaning off the Vaseline thoroughly with soap while not scrubbing (!) the skin and then putting on the wound plaster.

It's gonna look a bit gross because the wound fluid will collect under the bandage, but it's actually really good for the wound to have that plasma there as it promotes healing. And it means your tattoo will not form scabs that might peel off and take the colour with it. All my tattoos I did with second skin are super crisp and healed beautifully.

The tattoo might be a bit warm to the touch, but shouldn't be hot - a bit of warmth is normal from the healing, but hot indicates infection and might need antibiotics like any regular wound.

Edit: forgot the best part - you can shower immediately, and without the faff about drying off and accidentally ripping off the scab as well!
Brilliant, thank you. I've been reading about this stuff and it sounds so much easier than the usual method. I'm sure I can manage with stuff we have at home if I can't use it for whatever reason.

I have a funeral related one
My husband's uncle, married to his dad's sister , has died. I don't think I've ever met him , I've only met her. They live over an hour away so that will be well over an hour each way travelling to the funeral . I don't want to go .I have a few days coming up with several things on , and I bet it falls on those days.
I'm likely to have childcare issues, either getting back for pick up , or no one to look after my youngest. I'm sure if I was employed, I wouldn't be given the day off for it.
I'm not sure how to say I don't want to go.

I would blame childcare! I'm sure they won't be offended, it's not as if it's a close relative. Is your husband going? Send your apologies along with him if he is, and if not just send a condolence card.

It's for your husband to attend, not you. It's weird to attend a funeral of smoeone you've never met.

I'd just say either there's no childcare or your work isn't letting you take the time off, it's quite common for work places to deny the time off if they are not blood relatives an even if they do they usually only give you a time limit, my mum was only allowed 2 hours for a relative, it wasn't far so she was able to go but your 2 hours would be up just from travel alone

I’ve been to total strangers funerals before. Unbeknown to me the person I knew actually used their middle name as their first so not only did I wind up at a strangers funeral but stuck in a chapel pew with a service in Welsh nodding at total randoms, pretending to sing and the person I thought died hadn’t! I got away with it.

Not so much the second time.

I agree with others blame childcare.

I’m the same. I avoid funerals at all costs. However how does Mr Kim feel? Would he like you to go. I’ve gone to a funeral before because Mr Lolz asked me too

I'm going to wait until the date and place has been arranged before I say that I can't go. It might so happen that I do end up being able to make it.

I think he wants me to go with him . It wouldn't be a problem if it was local.

WHAT am I going to wear to an outdoor event this weekend. Food and drinks type thing where half the event is outdoors then the other half is indoors as the day goes on then we will all be going to bars etc after. It obviously isn’t the weather to be in shorts and t shirt. I have jeans (prefer black jeans for a night out, not really summery though) I am tempted to just not go if I can’t find something to wear 😖

am I being over the top. Does it matter how much what I wear?!? is anyone going to care as much as me?

It is hard to pick something that is day and night🤬

What about leather trousers and a nice top with shoe boots, can throw on a denim jacket later if needed 👌🏼

or long, wide legged linen trousers and vest top, can add a leather jacket or denim layer.

Touched on having the same issue earlier, but there's a thread for this and they're amazing, always great advice

I have ordered a long sleeved denim midi dress which helps for warmth but not rain. I think I'll end up in mom jeans, black body and blazer but yes I feel the same 😭.

How to lose weight quickly in a couple of weeks? I’m not looking for it to stat off permanently as I knowna quick fix never works. But it would be great if I could shift about 5kg very fast

You could try Michael Mosely's 5:2 (Fast 800 or Fast 800 Keto). His books also explain why it works long term rather than being a fad crash diet. Different things work for different people but it might be worth a go.

Maybe calorie count? Ive heard about apple cider being used but have never used it myself, also putting fresh ginger in food is supposed to be a good large burner, also stop eating I think it's 4 hours before bed, an apples if you are hungry between meals

Thank you both. I thought it would probably be restricting calories combined with more exercise. I'm just so bad at counting calories, I always get it wrong 😆
