I’ve recently plucked up the courage to leave a violent ex, blocked him on all social media platforms but he emails me with nasty messages, last week in one day I had over 50 emails, I did respond by asking him to leave me alone & saved them, I rang 101 to report him they said it’s harassment, the police have been to see me & recommended a non molestation order, but in order to get one I as the victim have got to pay for it as I don’t qualify for legal aid even though I only work part time, the domestic abuse helpline did ask me very strange questions like do I have anything worth over £500 & only asked how much rent I paid, said no other bills/food are taken into consideration, I told her I would think about it as it’s a few hundred pounds which I just can’t afford at the moment, has anyone else taken one of these orders out?

I can’t help with the question you’re asking but wanted to say well done you!
One piece of info I heard in the past that stuck with me that might be relevant… when someone sends 500 messages and finally gets a response telling them to leave you alone, all they see is that it takes 500 messages to get a response rather than the response itself which isn’t what they’re interested in. They’ll do it again and do it quicker to try to get the response again until you’re hounded.
Maybe he wanted to get a point across and is now done but If he continues to message you, it might be in your best interest not to respond further. It’s likely a way to continue to control and abuse you and you own him nothing.

I’ve not responded after telling him to leave me alone, the police have visited him, but when they came to see me there was no mention of paying for this order, my rent is over half my wage each month, then I have bills on top, it’s awful that people of domestic violence are having to pay to keep someone away from them.

Email or ring CAB and see what they advise. No one should have to pay to be safe.

You could use the 'CourtNav' system which is a digital service provided by Royal Courts of Justice and Citizens Advice. You fill in some details that are used to prepare an application for a Non-Molestation Order. If you can't get Legal Aid and can't pay privately, the form will be checked for free by a legal adviser at RCJ Citizens Advice. You'll need to register with CourtNav to use the service.

You can also get help and advice from FLOWS (Finding Legal Options for Women): https://www.flows.org.uk/support-for-women and Rights of Women: https://www.rightsofwomen.org.uk/get-advice/

Women’s aid may also be able to help. I know where I am they will do all they can to help. I know they’d be especially interested to hear about the need to pay; even if they cannot help it’s evidence of difficulty trying to get away.

Hope this was useful. It was bit rushed because ironically, I was just about to start my Citizens Advice work. Also not disputing what the domestic abuse helpline said but you can check your entitlement to Legal Aid yourself on the government website: https://www.gov.uk/check-legal-aid

This is the Citizens Advice website information on domestic abuse which includes action against harassment and stalking: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/f...c-violence-and-abuse/#h-starting-legal-action

Thank you, I just found the questions utterly bizarre, as if i was applying for some sort of debt management not a document to keep someone away from me x

Surely that was to assess your eligibility for legal aid? This is the Non-Molestation Order application form that is sent to the court and unsurprisingly it doesn't ask about rent or valuables:
But according to them they don’t take any utility bills like council tax or food into consideration they only asked how much rent I paid, if I had a car & if I owned anything over £500, they were just really strange questions, even when go into a debt management agreement they ask about every outgoing.

It's a long time since I actually did an eligibility check for legal aid so I can't remember all the details but according to the government website that I linked above the calculation takes in to account:
  • income, including any benefits they claim
  • outgoings, like housing costs, maintenance payments and childcare costs
  • savings and investments
  • assets, like property and vehicles
So it doesn't look like other bills are taken into account. Don't ask me to explain the logic but 'them's the rules'. The online checking tool on the government website will confirm it for you. The good thing is that the CourtNav service will get you to the point where, at no cost, you have a correctly completed application form which you can then send to the court. There's no court fee for non-molestation orders either. if you can't get legal aid or pay for a solicitor to represent you in court, you can get advice from someone like 'Support Through Court' - https://www.supportthroughcourt.org/

Debt assessments do take other costs into account. The aim there is to understand how much money the person has available to deal with their debts. There's no point making an agreement to pay a creditor £50 a month if there's only usually £10 left after all allowable spending because all that will happen is that the debtor will default, the creditor will cancel the arrangement and probably won't be inclined to agree to another one.

Does anyone own a Lumi spa, that isn't affliated with them, or is a salesperson selling them? Looking for genuine recommendations

My personal opinion is that it over exfoliates.
No doubt good in some senses but the marketing is awful and lies. Claims like 100% increased brightness and bounce - they’d not quantifiable!
If you wash your face for two full minutes with any product you will see better results than a quick wipe over so when peope go from little effort to full routine twice a day, they will see results.
In the same way that electric toothbrushes are better but a lot of it comes from the fact they have timers and guides on so invariably you’ll brush far longer and hit more areas.
I know people who’ve had good results but never miraculous, one girl it caused massive irritation. The people I know with acne and pigmentation have not had life changing results at all, no miracle cure. No one still uses it religiously. The one girl who sold it (hence I know so many people with it) had changed so many other factors like her make-up and lack of routine previously did see results but they can’t be attributed to the device only. Also IRL the results were not what she showed online.
Plus one min it’d be the lumi, next the AHA pads, next the collagen, next the new improved lumi all allegedly responsible.
They also sell you cleansers with it so the cleanser’s active ingredients could be as responsible for the results as the device.

The die hard girl who sold it has now left and is shilling another ‘life changing’ MLM.

TLDR - if you go from a simple face wash to cleansing with it for 2 mins twice a day with a targeted cleanser you will see results. But you could get similar for wayyyyyy less with a knock off or other foreo type knock off device with the right cleanser for your concerns.
Try a £12 foreo knock off from Amazon and see how long you keep up using it first. If you do get it, 2x a day is too much imo. Look at over exfoliation and the stratum layer.

(I used the original a few times and a knock of many times, the latter over exfoliated and possibly triggered dermatitis)

I have a lumispa and I go through stages where I remember to use it. I’ve used it for the past two weeks and my face is so, so dry. It’s peeling like I have sunburn. I don’t have bad skin, no spots or problem areas and I’ve now realised after reading above that it’s the lumispa making it dry as it’s happened once before.

Thank you both for your replies, oh no! Hope your skin is better soon 🥰

I really appreciate the time you have taken and the detail you have given in your reply to me. Thank you! It's made me think twice about rushing into one as they're not cheap and it sounds an alternative is the better way to go. Your comment is really helpful xx

Is there a way to resize photos so that it fits as a windows 11 background, tried to put a photo as my background but it's so big that its cutting bits off, it's telling me I need windows pro to be able to customise which after just paying 1299 for the pc am not paying more for windows pro, I just want to be able to reduce the picture size so it fits better, I did open it with photos an resized it on there but it's not made a difference on my screen

Will I need to resize it on my phone then send it to the pc an do it that way?

I have Lloyds Pharmacy own version. Combination skin. I use it once a week for a deep clean on my most oily parts such as my nose and chin. It helps with blackheads, but I don't go near my dry patches! Then I pop the head off and put it in the little bag I clean my reusable pads in and washing machine it. It's quite a lot of faff 😂

Maybe it's just a different shape to your screen, so it would cut off bits regardless? I would just Google for an online photo resizer if you need it, Adobe do a free service for changing the format of pictures, you must be able to resize too. Otherwise, the photo app on your phone and email to yourself?

Thanks I'll try that, don't know why it wants me to have windows 11 pro just to be able to put one of my own pictures as the background, you'd think that something as simple as that would be included on windows 11
