Ah here. It’s completely impractical and kind of icky of it to not allow some form of laundering. I don’t consider sponge cleaning to be cleaning. Worst thing that can happen? It disintegrates. Does the other side of the label indicate the material? Unless it’s held together by some kind of water soluble glue, I think you should still have something that resembles a throw after a cold wash. I will say that I am ruthless with laundry. Alcohol hand gel will get rid of dressing glue. Just soak a cotton wool pad with it, then hold it on the glue and rub (gently!), the residue should come away from your skin easily.Folks, have come home from hospital destroyed with residue from the tape they used for the cannula, IV lines etc. I’ve scrubbed my skin raw to no avail. Anything I might have laying around the house (or could get in supermarket) that might sort it out? My arms and chest are wrecked!

Ususally they will replace the broken parts of piping / connectors, which might include opening up the wall. Hopefully they can get to it without taking down tiles in the bathroom. Expect dust.So we have just discovered there is a leak in our bathroom. Looks like it’s been there for some time. Pretty sure it’s one of the connections to the taps or shower supply which backs on to the wall shared with the boiler cupboard. The wall is black (we never go in the cupboard), the floor is showing signs of warping (our hall way flooring), the bathroom door has started to be tricky to close - it’s warped, we put it down to change in temp or something.
Anyway, I have a few questions…
A) what’s the process? We phone a plumber to come and investigate tomorrow? What kind of reparatory work can they do? It’s so annoying because we were planning to do a big overhaul of the house but not for a few years…. Bathroom very likely to move from where it is…
B) is it likely we will need a new wall?
C) I don’t know what else I was going to say, is there anything else that should be on my mind?
Thank you - I think this is at least where we are lucky that our bathroom is on the ground floor. I think the damp has done some damage to the tiles side of the wall because the grout is a bit grubby looking and I couldn’t get it clean even when I blasted it with the steamer and bleach… to be totally honest it’s a bloody old bathroom that is falling apart, bits of iron have been falling off the tub for the last year, and I can’t wait to update it but the timing is just terrible! You can then get an industrial grade dehydration device for the cupboard to take out the moisture from the wall and floors if they haven't damaged the tile mortar - that is gonna be tricky but hopefully you will be able to dry out the wall from the cupboard. If not, you might have to take the tile down, as it will eat at the plaster and everything and cause mold and other damage long term.
As long as there is no obvious damage to the joists such as weakening of them, you should be ok to leave the warped floors if you don't mind having them.
Edit: and yes, phone a plumber first thing yo assess damage. Contact your household insurance too to see if they offer financial help. Sometimes they have specialists to recommend too.
If you can, turn off the water to the bathroom too at least overnight.

We moved in last year and there are so many cowboy DIY jobs that have been done around the house and little holes everywhere I can’t wait to give the house the love it deserves. Bringing reno forward… not sure it’s possible currently but we may have to see how viable it is. If there is moisture behind the tub /shower inset (if you have one) or underneath the floor it might be worth moving the reno forward if you can swing it at all.
Or possibly they can open up the cupboard wall and leave it exposed so it has a chance to dry out, that could be feasible too.
It all depends on how saturated the wall is and if it has seeped into the underfloor of the bathroom as well. Is the floor tiled? If you leave that moisture there (as it will not be able to evaporate underneath the tiles) it will eventually damage the joists and you will have to renew them which is not a fun nor cheap task at all.

You need to till the ground and then put down a weed barrier cover that will prevent any new growth. The cover looks like a black tarp.I have a strip of garden that I want to stone and put pots on. Random bits of grass come up on it, how do I prepare the bit of land to do this. Complete novice?!
There are a lot of people on the hoarding spectrum where I live. It’s baffling how it all flies under the radar instead of putting in support services. Someone turned to Facebook asking for nonjudgmental organizers to help them out. There were so many people with referrals! Maybe you could try doing the same 🩵Just been out in severely overgrown garden to put out dry waste to be collected and after putting it out and standing to get some cool air a massive rat came out severely overgrown grass to head inside. It was a very big and healthy look rat. I jumped and made a bit of noise and it sauntered off and I mean sauntered off, if could have it would have shrugged at me.
The garden is the landlords responsibility. They won’t sort it. Literally been saying for weeks to be patient.
I’ve a severe hoarding problem, but can access zero support, I’ve been forced to have contact with fire brigade, police, social services, mental health team, hoarding uk - am too ill for any treatment programme. I can only access gp for heart attack, stroke or appendicitis because my conditions aren’t ‘fixable’. I’ve lost my benefits because someone stole my forms, I was refused appeal as no medical access since March 2020 due to ‘covid risk’. I was offered a student for two hours to throw everything (literally) i own which would be dumped in the garden to be collected at some point, last time it pushed me into a breakdown a long hospital stay, as it wasn’t collected for a month and was devastating. I’ve no money to replace anything - my income is currently £60 a week. Covid restrictions proved there’s no one I can rely upon for help at all.
I’m terrified I’m going to be blamed for it. I put my waste out when I can, it’s really hard for me to do and, when I put out the dry recycling today I saw my neighbours have dumped loads in the overgrown garden - food, glass, all sorts, including animal waste as they’ve pets not declared to landlord. Last time I spoke to the landlord they had a go at me for putting everyone’s life at risk for being filthy dirty hoarder. My fire alarms and exit is clear, my neighbours have covered all their alarms with socks because they kept setting it off.
Ok long post. If anyone has any advice I’d appreciate it. I usually lurk on tattle except on the Ingham thread. I will try and read responses, sorry it’s long. My ptsd can mean I tend to over explain and get confused, especially right now.
