I think it's the hype that bothers me too. It also seems very self-indulgent on Serena's part.

I wouldn't be as bothered if it had been announced with the other wild cards, but all the 'will she or won't she' talk has been a bit much.

There’s talk now of weight loss drugs being banned in tennis, as Serena has openly talked about taking them and it’s obviously helped her get down to a weight that means she can be more competitive.

Realistically that WC would have gone to some private school Brit who'd be put on Court 17 and have no chance of making it past R2. So I think Serena is deserving enough tbh!
