Rubelev seems to have arrived on court without his rackets!

People either don’t really care about him or are big fans. The media protects him a lot and ignores all allegations against him. He’s dating a famous German actress (using the term loosely here, she’s more known as a nepo baby and for being famous) so there’s that too.
German tennis fans are obviously super crazy about him and call him the best German player ever.
"Hello, I've got Steffi Graf & Boris Becker on the line. They'd like a word ..."

Yeah some of his German fans are just delusional. They also claim that it doesn’t matter if he won’t win any grand slam tournaments bc he’ll always be considered one of the best players ever. I would like to say to that, that poor old Stan Wawrinka won three majors in his prime, defeating Nadal and Djokovic in the finals. He has an Olympic gold medal. And yet he’s never mentioned as part of the *big* ones. Why anyone should talk about Zverat in a few years time is beyond me.

And Wawrinka is always so non-egotistical about not feeling that he should be included in the Big Three/Big Four discussions, even though he has the same number of slams as Murray. He's not too fragile to acknowledge that Murray had a better record outside of the three Slams.

This match between Ruud and Fonseca is brilliant, both laying it all out there. I want to sleep but I want to watch.

I’m quite sad they’ve had to face each other because I would like both of them to stay in - especially Ruud 🥰

Something just happened during the second set tie break however where a member of the crowd called a ball out, and Fonseca was given a point rather than them having to replay 🤨 but earlier on in the match when there was an error in line calling, the point that would have gone to Ruud was replayed! Make it make sense.

I'm going to watch a bit longer, then record the rest and avoid the score until I can watch it tomorrow afternoon!

Rublev is out too 🤯

There were so many amazing 19- and 20-year-olds playing over the last couple of days it’s amazing to see.

McEnroe was going in on Zverev in the studio on TNT. He said he's got absolutely no excuse not to win this tournament now, and if he doesn't, he probably never will. Can't disagree there!

Also laughed at him for putting himself in the same category as Carlos and Novak.

I watched the Ruud/Fonseca match until the end (which I’m going to regret this afternoon at work when I have to keep a bunch of year 8 students under control). Amazing tennis, and some very close moments where things could have gone either way.

So it’s Zverat vs Gen Z in his half now and all three of them (Mensik, Jodar, Fonseca) have already played multiple five setters. While Zverat for once cruises through! 😕 I hope the pressure gets to him and he goes out in massive tantrums against young Jodar.

Edit: Zverev is 29 which technically makes him Gen Z too, I’ve just realized lol

Think it will be funnier if he loses in the semis or finals so I’m not losing hope yet

I see Serena is back and has received a doubles wild card for Queen's which is next week.

So happy Matteo B is through to QF 🥰 what a comeback in that third set tie break from 6-3 down!

Yeah I was watching the live score and saw he was down that much in the tie break so I was sure there’d be a fourth set. Amazing that he pulled through and happy for him to have already made a better result than he probably expected.
How funny though that with Sinner gone, three other Italians came through, last one to play right now is Arnaldi.

Cant wait for tomorrow’s matches tbh
