It's not your bleeping business to be looking for inconsistencies and holes in her statement.
I wasn’t trying to tear anyone down, just offering a voice of reason. There are clear inconsistencies, but I don’t blame Charlotte too much — she’s young and probably naive about the law. She likely thought that this ilkke person on TikTok was helping her. But in reality, ilkke is just using her for clout because she did the same thing with the Anna Paul situation.
Her videos are mainly focused on people attacking Tammy, not supporting Charlotte or the other potential victims involved. Sadly, by listening to her, Charlotte might be putting her own case at risk. It’s obviously a serious matter, and online posts can and do impact a real legal case. I have family in law from police to lawyers and they always tell me this.
From my experience working with DV survivors, the best advice I can give is:
- Get legal help first.
- Avoid posting about the case online, especially if your abuser/their friends can find you.
- Trust the legal process and always keep the prosecutor informed.
I really want to help people, that’s the only reason why I’ve been so critical about all of this. And I feel like my posts have strayed from the underlying issue. If anyone is in a similar situation as Charlotte, here are some resources available in Australia:
- 1800RESPECT - a free 24/7 national counselling and support service for anyone impacted by DV or SA
- Women’s Legal Services - provides free legal advice for women facing DV, offering support, resources, and guidance to help navigate the legal system
- White Ribbon Australia - a movement focusing on men’s violence against women and supporting survivors. Their website offers ways to get involved.
If anyone actually knows Charlotte personally, please relay this to her and let her know not to trust anyone on social media who says they’re an “advocate” unless they’re actually proving good, legally sound advice. She may think that speaking out now will help, but in the long run, it could hurt.
