I have tickets to go and see Josh at his stand up the beginning ish of September! Not sure how long his shows go on for after that but if it’s him I reckon he’ll end up cancelling!

I really like Josh, and I'm intrigued by the thought of an awkward, low-energy Eeyore-type in a role that used to be fronted by the queen of chaos 🤣

If the papers use the headline "Strictly Widde-Come Dancing" though, then we riot.
So they have missed a trick there, the presenting team should be Josh and Ann Widdecombe. 😁

Glad the speculation is over, time will tell whether it is a success. It will certainly highlight just how great a professional team Tess and Claudia had been.

Now it depends on which celebs they have managed to secure.

Eeyore is the Perfect description, unfortunately not in a good way, harmless also springs to mind

I think the Josh Widdecombe thing is a leap in the dark for the BBC.

Firstly, I think at various times, he'll think he's too cool for school and he might come across as a bit disdainful.

Secondly how will he cope if things go wrong??? He's doesn't give me the impression he can think on his feet.

Thirdly yes I'll admit that I'm raging that we've reverted back to male/female presenters. I know young folk might not believe this, but having 2 female presenters on a prime time Saturday night show was groundbreaking. But now it's reverted to type.

And lastly, Zoe was the Heir Apparent!!!! As a long term strictly viewer I feel like there's been some sort of revolution that I wasn't invited to (I'm being dramatic 🤣🤣🤣)

As someone else said earlier, maybe they are trying to kill off the show.

I think people are trying to fit Josh Widd (if it’s true) into the Strictly that was. We know the show is going to change, so it’s likely whoever it is will fit the new format.

I'm more sad that if it is him surely he'll be leaving The Last Leg

I never watched anything he was on. I guess, if true, it's a case of wait and see how things go.

DWTS has pivoted massively towards tiktok and social media to great success, so obviously BBC are trying the same thing here.

But he is not a presenter of live tv, so why give him the role when there are more qualified people? Alison Hammond is a prime example of wrong person for the job

i mean, he’s a very experienced stand-up (and the last leg is live isn’t it? he’s not a complete stranger to live tv) so i wouldn’t say he’s completely unqualified. he absolutely would know how to cope in a live presenting setting and be able to make quick conversation with people. he doesn’t seem like the “wrong” appointment at all to me!

He seemed to really enjoy his appearance on the Xmas show & often reposts Karen Hauer's stuff. He seems to have stayed close to her.

And he was covering a show on Radio 2 on Saturday morning so he has experience of live broadcasting.

Yes, I assume that there will be a big format overhaul. Fingers crossed!

Maybe Emma will be doing both Tess and Claudia's roles, Josh a podcast show and Johannes reporting on rehearsals, if he isn't dancing, but who knows. Wonder whether all the uncertainty/ speculation could be causing issues with getting celebs to sign up?

If I was a celeb I'd want to do it this year of all years as there will be so much attention on it, it'll be a good year for exposure. They might get some new viewers too.

I mean, he has been a co-host on The Last Leg for the last 10+ years which is live...

Josh covered the radio on Saturday afternoon and was dreadful. I will definitely be recording and ff his bits if it’s true. However, not sure we can trust the DM so I’m hoping it’s balls

Now you remind me, yes I have heard him on Radio 2. He was probably covering for Rylan this weekend who was in Austria for Eurovision.

When I heard him, a few months back, he was quite funny, he didn't know what buttons to press and was asking 'Sally traffic' amongst other things. I didn't know who it was until later so I thought at the time, he's a funny guy, whoever he is.

If the BBC are giving it a whirl at least it will be different, which is probably the right direction as trying to emulate Tess and Claudia would be an impossible act to replicate.

I like one of the three unofficially announced presenters so I'm definitely going to be hitting FF and concentrating on the things I enjoy about Strictly which is the dancing and Craig hopefully those two things still exist somewhere in the format 😉
