Considerably worse than Eunice here in the North West. I’m pretty appalled there is only a yellow wind warning, especially when this is coinciding with rush hour. It’s hazardous out there. We have a motorway closed, train cancellations and planes struggling to land. It really does highlight the North/South bias.

I'm in the SE and Eunice tore of roofs and has downed so many trees where I am.
Yesterday when the winds picked back up even more trees have come down where they're so weak. We thought we'd lose power last night in the power surges but so far so good, although parts of the town have lost power with it not expected back until tomorrow - some people have been without power since friday/Saturday though.
I begged my eldest not to cycle to work today, but he's done it anyway. No word if he got there ok, so hoping he's just too busy to reply and not been blown over or hit with debris because it's brutal out there today!

I really don't think the met office are in on a north / south bias. It's based on the data.
Make sure you wash your net curtains!
What's the divide? How is it being displayed? I'm in the south we have a yellow warning and more destruction (from my POV) than the last storm.

This storm has come in from the West and was not forecast to primarily affect the South. With Storm Eunice, it was the South that was forecast to take the brunt of it - red warnings and all over the news as the worst storm to hit the country in years. This is just as bad up here as Eunice was in the South and not even an amber warning. News headlines about some rapper who has died, rather than the impact of the storm. No offence, but I think the North/South bias is much more apparent to those who live in the North and goes beyond the weather.
Wonder what part of the UK this is 
Franklin has not been as strong as Eunice.
This storm has done more damage to my area than the last one and that was bad enough. Yet we also only have a yellow warning. nothing was cancelled this time, although on the first one everything was cancelled.. that was down to the local council.
I've said it before and no doubt will say it many more times in my lifetime.... The trouble with so many in the North is they confuse the South with London. The South is a huge area and mostly goes unnoticed by the media
I live less than a hour from London and yet if we are snowed in there is no mention of it.
I don't want this whole north south conversation to derail this thread because it's so ingrained and tribal. But the power cuts in the north were mentioned for weeks in the 30 mins headlines nationally.
Maybe it get go on a seperate thread? Lots of the same arguments could apply to many other parts of the UK. Even within London regions would say they're ignored by Westminster. Loads of areas in the south are just as ignored, huge parts of SW are deprived and the SE; like Clacton which is the most deprived part of the whole country.

I am close to Crosby so I'm not surprised to see that speed. Franklin took FOUR of my fence panels!
Why were there no weather warnings for Franklin? It's been so much worse than Eunice. Front gardens now has a pond! Garden furniture ended up in the farmer's field, but I've no idea how it blew up and over our wall and his fence. Just rescued it and luckily it's still in tact, albeit covered in thick, slimy mud. 
Franklin has not been worse than Eunice. It may have felt worse for you if you live in an area not affected by Eunice.Why were there no weather warnings for Franklin? Also, flood warnings are issued by the environment agency not the Met.
Yes, there have been many on the thread saying how still it was where they are even though they were expecting carnage. It's been awful where I am for ages now, even before Eunice hit, trees were down here,
For me, although Eunice was louder and scarier Franklin has done the most damage but that could be before things were already damaged before it hit.

Yeah i think all damage at this point is due to the ongoing storms and aftermath of bad weather rather than it being 'new' damage
We aren't used to this weather and the sheer amount of it since November has been causing structural damage ever since
My neighbours front fence for example survived all the previous storms but a bit of bad wind this morning caused it to eventually fall

A work colleague tied her kids upright trampoline to a tree and shed. The tree and shed came down 
Remember at Christmas the government pay for ads to say cook your turkey properly else you could get food poisoning? I think they need ads to tell people to turn the trampoline upside down and put something on it. There's nothing common about common sense.

I've just been outside cutting trees with a crappy handsaw as Franklin has brought them down onto our fence. One of ours is also now blocking the road.
