Nah, it's a joke... Rik, at the time, was really angry with Stephen, though I think they made peace in later years. I think this is Rik's way of talking about the situation with good grace and humour...?

Having a nose and found this on datalounge 'read a story about Rik Mayall leaving an interview when Fry began talking about his dalliances with underage boys.'

That would make more sense - it must be something illegal, which if Rik sat alongside Fry would implicate Rik in some way, as well as being personally distasteful to Rik?

SF always maintains that he did a runner because the stress got to him and he had a bit of a breakdown iirc.
Reading these posts though makes me think he literally may have been on the run.
I seem to remember that he’s done that before - think when he was in his teens he stole a credit card and ran into hiding.
Plus SF always says that RM never forgave him, and kind of presents it that people didn’t sympathise with his mental health issues.
But perhaps the truth is a lot less palatable? Maybe RM knew exactly why he ran?
Probably not fair of me to speculate but Fry just seems such a deceitful and duplicitous character.

I heard years ago that he liked young boys from freinds in the business. The mental breakdown or bipolar event was over something he'd done & was going to have a whistle blower spill the beans about it so he panicked and disappeared.

I'm so glad this is a thread, I used to be a fan till I read his autobiography and found him a massively self absorbed a, "I'm so much smarter than the average person" bore off. Seeing he's getting a knighthood, urgh of course he bloody is, how do people not see through it all

Sandi T made QI so much better!
My hubby was watching some video on YouTube only the other day and I remember the narrator mentioning how Sandi at was brought in to present Qi after Fry stepped down but apparently this was all done by Tony Hall in early 2015 after the Operation Yewtree Investigation. Not that Fry was involved in anyway but his departure from Qi apparently wasn’t his decision, TH wanted to diversify the BBC. On a side not from this. This was also the same year Jeremy Clarkson was let go by the BBC and TH wanted to replace Jeremy with a female on TG

From the article -
“Why are so many of Stephen Fry's heroes men who grape boys and who wrote at length about their pedophilic fantasies? Why does Fry also focus on adult/child sex in his plays and books?

Malcolm Clark @TwisterFilm has an enlightening thread on the subject:

"1./ 🧵Stephen Fry and Britain's Failure to Take Child Abuse Seriously. Our headlines are dominated by the scandal of institutions that refused to protect girls for fear of seeming "racist". My latest article suggests Stephen Fry's knighthood is from the same copybook.
1/of 21"

"2./ In a society that took child abuse seriously Stephen Fry's long track record of minimising child sexual exploitation would have disbarred him from the nation's top honour. In Fry's first play 'Latin' an adult teacher sexually abuses a 13 year old boy and takes him to Morocco."

"3./ The boy writes back to his schoolmates praising the country which he claims takes a relaxed attitude to sex between men and underage boys. They petition to visit. Fry's interest in adolescent boys continues in 'Hippopotamus' in which a 15 year old has sex with adults."

Stephen Fry confirmed for Celebrity Traitors, urgh. Can't wait to see him lording about thinking he's too smart to be fooled by the traitors. I PRAY he's not a traitor, I won't cope with his smug faux intelligence thinking he's one step ahead of everyone

They will definitely have him as a traitor. Lots of him giving off im the embodiment of Moriarty vibes while actually being completely transparent

I really like Jeopardy but I hate him as a host, he's so smarmy. Is he wearing a syrup, the top bit of his hair is a different colour to the sides?

Yes!!! I can’t watch him either. Like Jeopardy but with someone, pretty much anyone, else. Caught a bit of it whilst diving for the remote and thought he had a dead bird on his head 😆

'there’s no storm like pubescence and no port like a pretty boy’s bum'

Thats a quote from his autobiography.

I seem to remember reading online there was an incident involving him, a younger lad and a snooker table. But where it was I know not. He has since become a snooker fan so searching for his name and snooker is no help.
I've recently seen a blog suggesting the snooker governing body has a network within. It was a confusing read and offered no evidence but I've heard interviews with the promoters and they give off vibes that make me uneasy, I (sadly) wouldn't be surprised about fry or another high profile sport

From Rik Mayall's autobiography.

Mad to think that Stephen Fry went missing at the same time as Richey Edwards.
Never thought I’d be able to comment on anyone I knew irl on tattle. But I can guarantee that this excerpt doesn’t allude to anything nefarious.
Just rereading this extract. So a thing happened, and Rik is "not allowed" to speak of it.

Superinjunction?
No.
