Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go for a staycation please? Decided it‘s still too risky to book anything abroad for this year. Love Devon and Cornwall but I think it’ll be super busy this year and we have a weekend booked for the Yorkshire coast so suggestions for elsewhere would be great as just not sure where to go!

I think most people think of it as a holiday in their own country
;) I know.

But it was originally termed as a cost saving alternative to a vacation.....something which holidaying in Britain certainly is not!

To answer the OP, there probably won't be anywhere that isn't ludicrously overcrowded this year, especially if people allow the government to restrict travel abroad.

Agree about the cost, it’s probably cheaper to go abroad in some cases!
Yeah, everywhere will probably be super busy 😬

Anywhere coastal will be sooo busy.

Perhaps look at inland places like Cheltenham, Oxford, Cambridge, Stratford Upon Avon? So places which may not be as busy but have good infrastructure and good outside spaces to enjoy?

Scottish Highlands and Islands? Some great beaches on the coast, if you have kids there is the Harry Potter train journey between Fort William and Mallaig, Nessie’s Adventure land near Fort Augustus and Loch Ness boat trips

Glastonbury and Avebury could be worth a shout as there's no festival this year.

I would second the Scottish Highlands. Beautiful beaches, lots of lovely picturesque villages and towns, loads of things to see & do. You could do it as a camping/campsite holiday or as a more luxury hotel type stay.

South west West Sussex: particularly Arundel and the South Downs national park. (lovely wooded nature reserves there.). Arundel has a nature reserve (the Wetlands), a massive castle, a cathedral, a lake and wooded hilly country walks, and a cute town centre.

There are some nice beaches in the far west of the county too. Also not a million miles from the New Forest (also lovely) and the Isle of Wight.

If you want sun, the Sussex coast is statistically by far the sunniest place in mainland Britain.

The Lakes District looks amazing - as does Cornwall.

Do you cycle? If so, pack your bikes - I'm sure there are heaps of places to explore.
