I’m currently in winter and it’s so boring just a load of fishing and collecting items I guess! I’m too scared to go into the skull caves in the desert, I nearly die immediately but I want Iridium

It's good to know fishing gets easier lol, I can manage it if the fish stays near the bottom but soon as it jumps to the top then I've lost it

There are more difficult fish out there. It's entirely possible you have difficulties to catch some fish!
I got really frustrated tge first time round as well though I remember almost crying "I thought this was supposed to be a relaxing game?!"

You've opened up a whole new world for me, I had no idea there was a mod for lifts in the skull cavern. I hate that place with a passion, always end up passing out and I lost all my iridium ore once and didn't get it back from the guy in the mountains

Oh honestly it's great. It makes some of the ginger island quests for Mr Qi super easy, the ones where you have to make it to level 100 without eating or with more difficult monsters. Some days I go to the Skull Cavern, go straight to level 100 to open the chest and try get an autopetter then leave.

How do you know when you get to 100% on the Switch please?

once you've unlocked ginger island and get so many walnuts there's a cave/room there you can unlock and from there you can see how much progress you are making which is helpful!!

Same, I haven't played since I completed 100% so it'll be nice to have a reason to go back to it!

I've been getting the stardew itch for. while and I can go and get back on my farm (I'm never starting over ever again ) and work my way towards getting a golden egg but I'm going to do that while checking out the update whenever that comes!

I’ve played 4 save files for 100s of hours and only ever found 1 ancient fruit seed (and it was at the beginning so I didn’t realise what it was and sold it ) last night after putting over a 1000 fruits through the seed maker I got 1 but I need to find the artifact to give to Gunther and it’s doing my head in!

Also, how do people catch the legendary fish that are really hard?

bait, and lures from Willy with the erm iridium hook and hope for the best you can also buy a soup from Willy that boosts your fishing skill even if you are maxed at 10, so that’s worth doing if your trying to the Legendary fish.

I actually loved the routine of it. I haven’t played for a while but I found it very comforting just doing the same thing every day. Caring for my farm and then hoeing my way round the town dating everyone

Actually my bad, am not sure you can get it from the ghosts or not or if it's rare, but it's actually those little dudes with the weird mask an black clocks that shoot a green thing at you, so from lvl 80 downwards you get it, an grinding lvl 80 for gold lol an getting some from those dudes

The training rod is really good in the beginning but remember it is only beneficial till I think level 5, the training rod gives the same size of bar as that so once you are past 5 you are better with the iridium rod, plus training won't catch higher value fish

Oh wow! How far are you on your first farm then?

Boyfriend and I bought Stardew on Steam now too so we can play together! It's so much fun!

I’d pretty much completed the main storyline things like the community centre etc and got married to Shane and had kids but I haven’t touched it since the ginger island update so I’m really excited to delve into that!

I married Sam and then dated and got to 10 hearts with Leah, Sebastian, Abigail, Haley, Elliot, Alex, Shane and Emily I felt I needed to do that as I married Sam quick and felt I’d missed out so went and saw what the 10 heart events were with other characters I liked and then realised staying married to Sam was fine and I wasn’t really missing out. He’d only occasionally have dialogue about me gifting others and whether he should be concerned but I never lost hearts with him or anything .

Does make me laugh to think I dated a few of these characters whilst presumably heavily pregnant with the two children I have had with Sam (obviously you’re character never looks pregnant in the game but just imagining)

I really want to try Stardew Valley but I have no idea what it actually is or what you do, is it like Animal Crossing? A lot of the people I talk to online also play AC so makes me think they're similar?

It's brilliant Apple, I don't play AC but my daughter does, they're kinda similar in that you potter about and have villagers and crops, same cute vibe.

I got My Time in Portia the other month and I do enjoy it but wish I’d got it on switch rather than PS5 as I reckon I’d play it more often if I had. My boyfriend hogs the PS5

It's soooo comforting, it's my winter game for sure, I play on the Xbox but my daughter's just bought it for herself on her switch

Ahhh didn't know we have a thread for this game! Bit of veteran for this game but have never done 100% which I plan to do on my current save. Currently fall year three! Think I'm only at 33% but it'll go by quickly!

Just started year 3 an I am stuck at lvl 9 mining, I spent maybe 3 or 4 days just mining every rock till I ran out of energy or it got too late if I had food, also sold a ton of minerals since it said online selling those also counts but I just can't hit lvl 10, I've went from lvl 6 to 8 in combat

I really hope my game isn't glitched cause I don't want to start again

There is different types of rocks in the mines that give mining xp, one type doesn’t give any.

I’d try again again but making sure to clear floors of rocks completely before going down the stairs

I've no idea what one it is lol, it's one of the pale skinny ones, must be the 10 days then cause its taken forever, it was whatever one I could find my way into to place the tapper on

Maple, oak or pine.

The pine trees look like green pointy trees.
The oak and maple trees look kinda similar. Skinny trunk and green tops etc.

After several hundred hours on stardew, the best way I can describe the maple and oak trees is that one of them had a complete bush and the other has gaps in the bush..

Oak is complete.. maple has gaps..
I remember it by saying Oh complete, maple gaps..

maple - 9 days
Oak - 7 days
pine - 5 days
