I remember the first time I heard wannabe on the radio, I was on my own at home and I remember actually cringeing. I thought I was way cool back then and they were so cheesy. But now as an older person I feel quite nostalgic about them, they were a lot more real than performers now, really natural and just in it for the fun.
Bizarrely I know most of the words to all their hits, god knows how, maybe by osmosis, my little sis was a huge fan and I'd happily singalong to them now!

Happy 25th(!) anniversary to Wannabe! Can’t believe it’s been that long already. The first time I heard it was on the radio and I literally thought ”wtf”, especially because Jo Whiley had just introduced it saying they were like a female Beastie Boys!

Just saw that Emma Bunton cancelled her concert in York last night with about an hour or so before it was due to start. She’s always seemed like a nice, genuine person but it’s a bit strange that she was happily dancing around on stage earlier in the week in Brighton then a couple of nights later she was so ill that she had to let her all her fans down. They must have been gutted…nights out like that are a treat, and especially for those who had booked a hotel, gone for dinner and so on..

Emma says she can’t stop crying.

I’m so glad I was caught up in the whole spice girls phenomenon when I was young. Hearing any of their songs just instantly takes me back to happy memories. Most songs are still on my playlist now lol songs that have came through the years with me

At the time there was a girl in our local nightclub infamous for dressing like ginger spice - Union Jack dress, those massive platform trainers, short ginger bob. Oh the fame!

I loved SG, although I never really appreciated VB’s wit as an early teenager. looking back she was hilarious.

I watched Mel C on Diary of a CEO a few months ago. She came across well. She was always my least favourite but I think that’s because of the tomboy image and 13 year old me liked the platform boots and inch thick make up look

I have just read her autobiography, would seriously recommend. Lots of interesting nuggets from the Spice Girls days and I learnt a lot about Mel C. She comes across as so lovely and down to earth.

I loved Victoria in the movie. None of them were going to win any Oscars, but it was a really daft, fun film.

Remember the bus jump scene, and Victoria was driving, “hold onto your knickers girls!”
And then it shows this tiny toy bus jumping over the gap in the bridge!
