I remember reading a while back that MI5 think the biggest terrorist todays comes from far right groups rather than Islamist extremism. The government will have intel on this.
German government has released a similar statement based on the numbers of far right attacks and studies. Obviously it’s being ignored in this country too, because the far right scream louder than anyone else. Far right extremism IS a real threat to democrats, freedom and lives - but it’s easier to focus on alleged bigger threats posed by refugees and immigrants.

I love how they all talk about the burden immigrants place on public services like the NHS, when most of them look like heart attacks, stokes, cirrhosis and type 2 diabetes waiting to happen🙄

This is America, not the UK, but it's really interesting. https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/what-nij-research-tells-us-about-domestic-terrorism
I've been fairly fascinated about domestic terrorism there since the Oklahoma bombings. The guy who did the mass shooting in Las Vegas is a more recent example.

And then go and burn down places like libraries and CAB offices ...

Another thing that appears to be happening which doesn’t help is the amount of people going purely to live stream it. These people are wannabe TikTok famous people that are using this to grow their following/views.

That’s not me saying seeing things play out from the ground isn’t helpful, to an extent it is. But last night I watched one from Bristol just as it started getting violent and the police were running over to the area where they’d starting fighting and were having to shout “Get back” “get out of the way” and onlookers filming. The guys whose live I was watching got shouted at and then he went off on a barrage of abuse at the officer “I’m bleeping moving you bleeping wanker, bleeping wick” YOURE IN THE WAY YOU ABSOLUTE BAFFOON

People putting themselves at risk purely for TikTok views. This world is mental.

La's a Liverpool thing. Like the band The La's.
Maybe because the government don’t listen to them and they have no other avenues left. And I don’t believe these people are ‘far right’ either.
It is easy to dismiss the rioters as knuckle dragging oafs but there must be a reason why they feel the way they do.
Generally working class areas are deprived to start with, and the influx of migrants from other deprived/war-torn parts of the world does not improve the situation for the original inhabitants. The infrastructure in these areas is already stretched to breaking point - introducing more people with their own challenges into the mix is not without problems.

Working class areas are disproportionately affected by migration, migrants are usually not placed in wealthy areas with an above average infrastructure.
I can understand how the original population of these deprived areas feel when they see additional resources being brought in to support migrants, when they have struggled with a lack of resources for decades.

I'm not excusing the rioters behaviour, it is beyond ridiculous to smash up your community and terrorise people, but I have lived in areas that were solid working class were the community were crowded out by migrants over a period of years. The area has completely changed and not for the better sadly, just dismissing people as right wing thugs without exploring the issues doesn't give the full picture.

Re the survivors, whilst they should not be forgotten, it may be a good thing they are not being reported on. They are very young minors still, the families may want to protect them plus it stops them from having to read back on themselves in years to come.
Excellent point, it’s just a shame that the reason they are being left alone isn’t because the gutter media have morals, it’s that they have something else to focus on.

The areas these "protests" are happening in have some of the smallest populations of people from ethnic minority backgrounds by the way.

In a large proportion of videos circulating about Harehill, Manchester airport and these current riots, more people are holdup their phones and filming than doing anything else.
Obviously until the main characters start the real violence and thuggery.

One of the main reasons is the stoking of division, fear and hatred by certain areas of the political and media class, imo.

Thing is, you’re hardly to be going to be able to have a discourse with people who are so misinformed and not willing to listen or debate in good faith. Some of these also fully believe that the State has some great conspiracy about protecting people who aren’t white or are trying to replace the white population and culture and whatever else

You don’t have to look far to see this in action even with the people who don’t seem to have attended these protests or been labelled as far right thugs 🤷🏼‍♀️

A man I know in Birmingham is on social media warning people to stay out of the city centre on Aug 17th because there is a 'protest' planned for then as well. It seems the violent ones have a long term strategy to drag this out :(

A lot of female MP's said after the election they had never know intimidation and violence like they had on this campaign and a lot of it was down to people using social media and filming things and sharing it to increase it that hadn't happened before.

It's easy to dismiss the climate protestors as silly posh rich kids but I'd argue they have far more of a reason to protest than this lot but didn't see that leading to a huge discussion about the absolute tit show climate change is going to bring to the country.

The biggest issue these riots show and the incident that started them off is male violence and that's what we really need to be talking about

Can’t believe what I’ve just read on here. Anyone with a brain should be concerned about the uncivilised immigrants that are entering the country everyday. If you don’t, and you have young children, then I’d be seriously concerned you can’t safeguard them if you can’t even recognise real threats.

Has anyone checked the long range weather forecast for Birmingham?

I’m willing to bet good money the concerned citizens won’t be out if it’s lashing it down x

I just saw a report where a woman was stabbed and they described the attacker as a white man (male violence again).

I was surprised at his race being mentioned, went to the replies on twitter and saw there had already been misinformation spread that a Middle Eastern Muslim committed the crime.

Maybe not on this scale, but I don't see this going away soon.

Perhaps we should just throw all men out of the country?

“The vast majority of child sex offenders in England and Wales are male, with men representing 98% of all defendants in 2015/16. A 2020 report by the Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse stated that "In the records of defendants prosecuted for child sexual abuse offences" among those in which ethnic background was recorded "the vast majority were white (89%); 6% were Asian, 3% were Black, 1% were from mixed ethnic backgrounds and 1% were from "other" ethnic backgrounds."

(obviously I’m not suggesting we throw all men out of the country)

There is already a 'protest' arranged for Glasgow in September.

I’m confused where anyone’s said there’s no concern about uncivilised immigrants in the country? It’s people who LIVE in this country, work here, pay tax, have kids that go to school here who are getting targeted. People are walking down the street and getting assaulted, British citizens because of the colour of their skin. I had to safeguard my kids yesterday in their own city from people who live here when I couldn’t take them on a day out in our city centre because of people rioting.
