I'm imagining having to tell my daughter her friend was murdered. The bickering doesn't change anything, this is a horrific and needless tragedy and politicians, institutions, services etc. all need to be held accountable and changes made. Does social media for under 18's need to be illegal? Does antisocial behaviour actually need a proper crackdown?? We need to be brainstorming and coming up with ideas to fix our society. Talk does nothing. Change has to happen. It's just not good enough.
It's easy to blame the parents but we live in a society. They weren't the only ones responsible.

I think if the judge has ruled they can now name him, then the media have every right to share pics of what he looks like now! The police did everything by the book and appealed to the court to have him named using totally the correct channels. I don’t get why people are having a go at the police for not disclosing anything earlier! They have to be very careful not to jeopardise this case and make sure this b gets sent down for a very long time! I would imagine his family have been moved to a safe house now too in case of attacks on them!
I find the language used quite odd. Calling him a ‘boy’ when he will be 18 next week instead of saying youth. Then posting this photo which clearly isn’t recent. If he does have some sort of mental health issues then I feel sorry for him but it does seem like a targeted attack.
It annoys me how mental health issues seem to be used as some sort of excuse these days. Not saying you’re doing that Grifty. But look at Huw Edwards he used Mental Health to get an easier ride with all that carry on last year.
I know mental health isn’t a black and white but there are millions of suffers who don’t commit crimes and/or have dodgy dealings.
Is it just me who finds articles like this a bit weird? Has she been paid for this story?? Why’s she making it all about her and her daughter?This is just heartbreaking

There’s plenty of people have mental health problems and don’t turn to killing innocent little girls! Who knows what his motives were or what his family like was like! I suppose it will all come out in due course!

very impressive I’m sure he’ll go viral.THANK YOU. I was feeling a right wrong un but I saw them on the news and it was an uncomfortable watch. A bit of mourn porn tied up with grifting your child about for attention. Parenting capacity seems off to me.
Yeah, don’t worry I didn’t take offence at your post and appreciate that we can discuss things like this. I do have some people close to me who have serious mental health issues but they wouldn’t hurt a fly, but then I also know of someone in NI who was psychotic and killed his mum. (It wasn’t a clear cut case and very heavily drug influenced and was just a terrible sad situation)
I don’t think any of us know the motives yet because this was horrific and I feel for the defence team who have to do their best to represent the client to ensure a fair trial.
yeah I find this one weird. The actual child Poppy, who lost her friend 3 days ago is talking too.

I actually didn’t read the headline properly and thought the article was about one of the poor mothers finding out her daughter had died. I find it a pretty crappy thing to do if they really were as friendly as being made out to have her posing and being interviewed by a stranger mere days after.
BBC News has been pretty terrible on this, I watched this
live and was amazed at the ignorance, and I don't think they ever corrected it. This is the guy who's doing the main coverage of it.
