Why would that be? In case the prole's make the wrong decision?
People voting for people to represent them in Parliament. Maybe you should look it up 🤷‍♀️

~ I think the democracy we currently participate in is the best one

~ OOOOOO WHY DO YOU HATE DEMOCRACY????
Because we must have referendums on every issue otherwise we are essentially a communist state like China.

But of course it's the left who have made extreme ridiculous statements on here by saying people with right wing views are right wing.

Let’s just have people vote on a daily basis on multiple complex issues by 👍 or 👎 on Facebook. What could possibly go wrong?

No point paying MP salaries when the experts are on Tattle 😂 I guess the referendum could only be open to Guardian subscribers 🙃
No, the experts on tattle think they should be consulted via referendum on every issue in the UK.

Whereas I think MPs should be paid to represent us as I realise the majority of us do not have the knowledge or expertise to be consulted on each issue.

Nice try though.

That's the system we have now, referendums are a part of democracy 👍
Yes thank you, all three of them which have gone swimmingly 👍

There was

Ireland had referendums on abortion and marriage reforms I believe.
They both delivered quite surprising results.
They tend to grasp true public opinion, the recent Irish one blew the leading working class party completely out of the water, much to their surprise .

They are paid but not necessarily in touch that’s why referendums are so important in the democratic process.

Referenda may gauge public opinion, but not necessarily on the actual issue at hand

Or you could just elect someone who you think is more in touch during the next general election 🤷‍♀️

Like I pointed out above that doesn’t always work, thinking something is just that sometimes it’s better to have your own voice heard.

You can make your voice heard at the ballot box during a general election and local election.

Honestly if we had direct democracy and were consulted on every issue do you think people will have the time and inclination to read through every bill?
