She was giving out about sugar in something there a few days ago (mustard i think it was) and it was miniscule plus sugar is an ingredient to make it!! The stuff she gives out about is really ridiculous.

The scare mongering on mustard really annoyed me, how much mustard can any person eat in a year, a few teaspoons.

There are products on the shelves that are highly processed, for sure , but that's because people buy them. They wouldn't be there is no market.

I believe and I maybe wrong but the vat majority of people who eat highly processed foods do because they can't/ won't cook. I have a friend who buys all prepared food, frozen roast potatoes, roast diners ready to go in oven.

I think Sophie would be better focusing on getting people to cook more, it's better for you & cheaper in long run, rather than scaremongering on the mustard and ketchup you use.

I’m so glad to have found a thread on this one. She is absolutely painful. And her obsession with ingredients and ultra processed foods is just another form of disordered eating disguised as a trend. She has zero qualifications in nutrition and food science yet people follow her blindly and bankrupt themselves trying to buy what she recommends. Yes, less processed foods are better for our bodies but the obsession with them is not better for people’s minds, pockets or family life. We all do our best with what we have and don’t need Saint Sophie preaching from the aisles of the supermarket telling us we are poisoning our children.
Does anyone know or can anyone find out what qualifications this dose has? Because my head is wrecked people going on about "Sophie the dietician"

It’s my understanding that she’s a nutrition coach. Something I think I could qualify in over a week of lunch breaks from my job.
A dietician is a medical professional and would not need to shout into their iPhone like an escaped patient around Lidl with unbrushed hair ranting about stabilisers. She never explains what the actual problem is with these ‘bad’ ingredients though. Just that they’re bad. She’s a dangerous idiot.

I listened to a really informative podcast with Caroline O’Connor (Solid starts Ireland) she is an actual qualified and registered dietician and she was brilliant gave really informative and useful advice and spoke about the differences in qualifications between dieticians and nutritionists and no regulation around nutritionists etc it’s well worth a listen.

Binge.eating.dietitian is very good too. A lot of them dismiss her but just give out proper advice instead of just calling her out

She needs to be stopped. Today telling us what biscuits are better one being "bad" because it has palm oil and one being better because it doesn't. Like what does that even mean? Eat the biscuit. That would be so bad for your health the stress of reading every label. I worry some people are taking this so seriously and are probably stopping buying lots of foods they once enjoyed or feel shame around eating something with a bit of palm oil. So dangerous when she doesn't even go into any evidence based information or any educational piece at all. Just something is good or bad. Nutrition is far from that.

Gary McGowan (used to be skinnygaz) has an interesting story about Sophie. Apparently he has asked her to back up her claims on numerous occasions. She never replied and has now blocked him. I should point out that Gary is a medical doctor doing a masters in cardiology. Like him or not, he knows his science! Whereas Sophie is spouting incomplete, and often inaccurate, information. She really irritates me 🤬

He’s very good he actually at calling out spoofers. I can’t think of the fellas name but he says “wake the duck up guys”, English in maybe his 50s/60s. He didn’t think twice about calling out his bull tit

eddie abbew I just remembered!

It's such a cult. Not remotely to surprising to see she spawned out of Ballymaloe.

They're just as bad with their anti scientific beliefs about organics and natural vs synthetic chemicals. Its one big circle jerk of woo

She recommended brioche buns from m and s they are 3 euro for 2! Also I looked up the ingredients online and they contain the things she stated she thing are bad! So she is so dangerous she doesn't even research a product properly. She cannot be trusted. People claiming they lost loads of weight because of her and feel great is just weird! She also recommends bake at home Tesco rolls if you check they contain seed oils which she says are bad. In a minuscule amount but she has claimed other things with a minuscule amount of oil is bad before. She really doesn't check her content. I'm surprised she hasn't been sued by a food company yet as her recommendations are so flippant.

Can you imagine your kids being in same class as her kids. You just couldn't invite them to birthday parties. I'd be freaked out there was going to be an Instagram live of her having a meltdown in my kitchen surrounded by Cadburys, Haribo, cocktail sausages, pizza and worst of all chicken goujons from Lidl freezer section 😆

Also... Why do we need a clever swap for broccoli 🙄🙄🙄
