So apparently the only reason obesity is a risk factor in how covid affects you is because of how health professionals treat large people...okayyyyy

I am far from a fan of Sofies but I am glad that she’s encouraging people to get the vaccine whatever the reason for it

pretty sure it has been proven that it does... I am all for her promotion of a positive body image, but it is ridiculous to deny facts

Of course. And that's a pure coincidence that most patients in intensive care are large. She's deluded and criminal.

In my country, all studies show that severe obesity (BMI superior to 35) significantly increases the risk of being placed under invasive mechanical breathing machines, regardless of age and regardless of the pathologies who can be linked to obesity (high blood pressure, diabetes...).
About half of the patients in intensive care for covid are severely obese (and there are far less large people here than in Britain, let alone obese).

That's why they need to get the vaccine and protect themselves particularly. That's why they are on the vulnerable people lists, everywhere as far as I know

kinda rich of Sofie, as a white person, to talk about how being large makes her whole existance marginalised... like c'mon, she will never experience the prejudice that POC do and it's offensive to imply its even comparable

tbh I think on some level she KNOWS she is more at risk but doesn't want to admit it...

I totally agree. I think it’s weird how a lot of plus size white people position themselves as being comparable to the struggles black and POC face

yeah totally agree, also how can you compare being large and being a POC (in most cases) you can change your weight, i know there are of course exceptions, but a POC cannot change themself.
I find this denial of the health issues of being overweight (and I say this is someone who is also overweight) ridiculous as it just undermines the whole body positive movement, there are plenty of ways to argue for being okay with people being overweight, arguing it is not unhealthy is not one of them

Specifically about fatness/health, there are lots of good resources debunking that large automatically equals unhealthy, unfortunately it’s just not spoken about as much. Sofie’s book covers this well in a chapter on health, also the book Health at Every Size.

She knows Covid could kill her. That’s why she hasn’t left the house in over a year. Great time to commit to getting a dog that requires walking 2x a day. 🙄

Covid is a convenient excuse for her, I don’t Think that poor dog would be getting a walk even if things were ‘normal’

yeah exactly, i assume she is going to supermarkets etc, surely being out in a park is less risky anyway?

Was just about to say this. Even if she isn't going to shops etc the risks of catching it out in the open air are very low. To be honest if covid was going to prevent her walking him the responsible thing to do would have been to allow him to be adopted, or at least fostered, by someone who would walk him.

The fact is what she said about Covid in this post is wrong.
Moreover, the BOPO speakers don't seem to differentiate levels of fatness like it's all the same. Fine regarding beauty and self esteem but not health. Same with thin people btw.

It's just an invention from the veterinarians and their prejudices. Dogs don't need walks. It's a special dog anyway and Sofie knows better.

That hidden declaration really boils my piss. Wonder what they paid for this?
I don’t think they pay but she’s signed up to be an affiliate so if you click and then buy something, she gets a cut. I think the cookie follows you around for 30 days sometimes too. Nice little earner for these people as it will apply to ANYTHING you buy from ASOS or wherever during that time. Correct me if I’m wrong?

😮 Thanks for explaining. I would have had NO IDEA of that from her story post.
