The official line has always been that we are one big happy multicultural family. The most high profile examples, such as the England football team, paint this picture. But beneath the surface? I simply don’t know.
One of the most harrowing cases I was ever involved in was the murder of two Chinese “students” in Newcastle. Now I put the word student in quotation marks for a reason, that being that except for registration they never attended university once and spent their days involved in a betting scam. It was also unclear how the girl, who by all accounts couldn’t speak a word of English, had any hope in hell of following a course of higher education. But that is an issue for the UK Foreign Office visa team and I digress. To get back on topic what we quickly discovered was that we had no contact within the Chinese community, no knowledge of how they operated, and had no one willing to talk to us. That we eventually caught the killer was flat blind luck, and we discovered he had been illegally in the UK for over a decade, still could not speak a word and had done god knows what.
By mass migration I don’t mean a few people arriving by dinghy. Although I would point out that neither you, me, or indeed anyone reading this thread have any idea who these people are, what their intentions are, or what their backgrounds are. I would agree that most are just looking for a better life, but once again I would point out that desiring a better life economically isn’t, and never had been, a legitimate reason to claim political asylum by any legislation i’m aware of.
By mass migration I mean that an estimated 55 million people may be displaced by climate change and they will have to go somewhere. It’s a Malthusian issue.
