So its oats, banana and egg? Just combined and bake with whatever fruit? It was the yogurt out me off the baked oats tbh. I'm funny about them and the kind I like 😊

Brittany the lumi? Advocate. I was sick listening I her going on about that 🤦‍🤣 I used to like her too
I do a small banana mashed with a fork, 30-40g oats, 1 tsp baking powder, small or medium egg and milk to whatever consistency you prefer I use about 50ml, I like a dry-ish mixture, not too wet. Then you can add whatever you like, I do lemon and blueberry (so zest of lemon and juice into the mix) raspberry and white chocolate (i use a small amount say 5g of white choc baking chunks) chocolate orange is nice too I do zest of an orange and some low cal choc powder. You could again add choc chips through the mix if you like. Once you start making them youl be able to tell which consistency suits you best. I bake at 180 for 20 mins but again if you like them softer /wetter cook for less time.

Theyre never more than 350 cals and so filling. They last me right through to lunch and on a busy day have seen me through to dinner albeit I was starving.

I have to admit I am a total baked oats (not overnight, god no, so claggy!!) fan for breakfast, but I am not a piss taker when on plan. Nor do I melt a square of chocolate to dip fruit in, I just eat the bar of chocolate that I want whilst incorporating it into my days.

When it works and you go back to basics it works, but as with any plan you’ve also got to have your head in the right space as well, and clearly some of these folk are taking the mick!

One thing that does irk me and always has done though is how mashing or blending fruit makes it synnable? I could understand if they were to tell me it’s because mashing or blending releases sugars in the fruit, but to tell me it’s because I’m likely to consume more and affect my loses. Usually by a consultant with no nutritional training at all.

Fruit is high in a natural sugar called fructose, which is fine until you realise this by blending, mashing or cooking ... Fructose is a high energy sugar which passes across the cell wall of the small intestine far too fast. The absorption of fructose in this speedy way causes a blood sugar level spike (you get lots of energy in one boost) the problem is it depletes quickly too and causes a blood sugar dip, thus making you feel hungry again, so you eat. Whilst you eat your pancreas detects a dip in blood sugar and releases a hormone called 'glucagon' ... Glucagon then travels to the liver to unlock another hormone called glycogen which converts to glucose in the blood thus giving you energy. The problem with this happening is you have already consumed new calories and your body works to break those down and the new glucose is then stored as large on the body for the next blood sugar dip, thus resulting in over indulgence of calories.

Also with fruit being a high carbohydrate food, the chewing action of the mouth and the release of glucose and fructose stimulates an enzyme called salivary amylase, this enzyme starts to break down long molecules of sugar into simpler forms of sugar (thus carbohydrate digestion starts in the mouth) also the detection of sugar molecules in the mouth causes a signal to be sent to the brain ' and so your appetite cut off kicks in once your body has sufficient nutrients, when you blend or mash, the fruit leaves the mouth to quickly and thus the appetite suppressant action of the salivary amylase does not kick in, and so you can potentially over indulge in calories.

If you eat fruit in normal quantities then there is no issue. Its the free/speed mentality which means they have to have these silly rules.

The Insta brigade would be having 3 smoothies a day with a whipped cream and party ring topping otherwise. SW having absolutely no restrictions on quantity is why they have these rules as you'd struggle to eat that much fruit.

When I did attend group people would speak at image therapy and have eaten a whole punnet of grapes in front of the TV because 'they're a free food' rather than have had 1 chocolate bar or a biscuit. I cant imagine on any other eating plan where you'd eat than many grapes in one go.

Im on the PON FB group mainly for the outrageous posts and someone posted at the weekend they were thinking of going from SW to CC and wanted to know if free food and speed foods had calories. Was a serious post too!!!

You are good. If I go the cinema it’s jellies, chocolate and possibly pringles. Call it flexi syns. Although depends how on it I am as I can manage taking a small punnet of mixed fruit and hifi bars

It obviously works for you so not knocking it but I dont think SW talks about coping mechanisms not to eat for the sake of eating. When I did SW I always had to have something when I was watching TV after dinner. Whereas now (after CBT I should say) I dont have those urges as much anymore. I wish SW did more on that side of things rather than replacing x with y, talk about our feelings around the food, why do we feel the need to snack, where do those feelings come from. I found CBT really good for this.

I get a melon and strawberry box from M&S round the corner from the cinema, have this while my bf sits there eating a family bag of Malteasers 😂

people in my SW group used to eat an insane amount of fruit. Like a whole fruit bowl worth a day. Then just couldn’t understand why they weren’t losing weight!

There does seem to be that mentality of stuffing yourself full of fruit is the way to do it on a lot of groups. I'm not a massive fruit fan and I'm lucky if I eat a portion a day (I'll eat more in summer as I love strawberries/raspberries etc) but I just don't find it fills me up much and leaves me super hungry. I eat loads of veg and salad though where I'm not getting that sugar hit and generally calories are a lot lower for veg so think it works better for me. A punnet of grapes is about 300 calories so there's a reason why they're not speed food but lots of folk just think "fruit" and gobble it down. Punnet of strawberries on the other hand is about 120 calories so much better and clearly why it is classed as speed food.

Triple burgers! Just so gross. This is a total misrepresentation of SW. Most people will not lose weight eating like this.

Me neither it’s just total overkill. I bet these two are the type of people when you ask someone what a takeaway/restaurant is like and they go ‘oh it’s great, you get loads!!!’ And you’re like ‘yes but what is the food like??’ 😂 measuring quality by quantity!

Can't say that looks very 'heart healthy' either. SW is about overall health, these people may look slim on the outside but the story of what is going on internally could be very different. High levels of sweeteners, salt, additives etc are never good and consistently eating this way will have hidden impacts.

I totally agree with you, I don’t eat meat but I’ve got palpitations just looking at that. Some of the ingredients lists on the processed stuff is insane - I mentioned on the Harry Pickard thread a few weeks back when I was cleaning my oven and there was molten cheese slice intact and still florescent orange from like a month earlier 😂 can’t be good for your insides!

I mean, this looks decent but it’s not diet food is it 😅 I’m not sure I understand the context of photos like this.. are these people at their target weight and eating to maintain now? Or are they actually trying to claim they are losing weight eating meals like this? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I almost believe it’s just for the likes shares and follows. Imagine if people just did three actual SW meals like many have stated here a bit protein veg or salad and a jacket... they wouldn’t get all the engagement. Free rubdiscount codes then not being able to abuse they’re large followers into buying their MLM scheme crap!!!!

To me It’s all fake. Well even if they do eat it it’s just for all the above. Because I know myself as a disordered eating large gal who loves everything beige sweet or savoury posts like this would scream to me. And that’s who they are after the ones who are eating ‘bad’ (🤢 it sickens me to refer to any food as bad but just so you get an idea of what I mean, apologies)

So the baked oats covered in half a family size bar of chocolate the Easter egg crap. The three tier burgers with slaw and chips etc etc

It really bugs me they are allowed to use SW hash tags because they take away from SW really going back to the basic plan of it all. As I’m sure some of them don’t eat what they show then you have other normal People attempting to copy all their tit and wondering why they’re not losing weight - eating beige crap in lashes quantity’s not realising how many calories are in it as in your not in a calorie deficit and eating 1000 cals per meal of rubbish.

But like someone else has stated which really hit me like a tonne of bricks, SW consultants and groups don’t learn you any coping mechanisms I.e if you wanted to eat something ‘syn’ Or for eating out etc. Cos that was totally me when I attempted it from 14 years old till about 26!!!

This is where SW does need to invest further I feel. You sit there at a group asking about how to navigate a social event or what to have when you really fancy a takeaway but don't want to blow your weight loss and there aren't really any answers. No-one wants wants to have fish and chips then take the batter off the fish or order chicken in bloody black bean sauce with boiled rice and is there anything more depressing than worrying about what you're being fed if you're at someone's house when really you should be enjoying getting together with people....especially when we've been denied these kind of events for the last year.

The on/off plan is a bit of a head duck for so many people. It's all very well for consultants to say nothing is banned but it doesn't seem to work like that in reality. So many of us struggle with having food we can't easily fit into the plan so we end up veering off then having to reset.
