I feel like if SW do a youturn and follow calorie counting theyl lose a lot of there cult following. It would be the right thing for them to do though!
I wonder if they'll do two separate plans for a couple of years, like how they kept the Green/Red plan alongside EE before slowly phasing it out.

They might do. I just can't see the die hards accepting weighing of things and restrictions on quantity. Need to wait and see I guess. What will all the beige Insta accounts do if it changes. Itl be porky lights / muller light saga all over again.

I followed sw for years, lost a lot of weight and then yo-yoed
It really messes with your head and eating imo.
I can't eat savoury rice, cous cous, beans or Muller lights these days 🤢
I also now enjoy fish and chips at the beach with my kids instead of eating a salad.
Gradually unfollowing sw accounts as they appear in my feed from over the years.

I think SW is great for people who are new to weight loss and have a lot of weight to lose. The concept is simple and whilst the terminology is absolute dog tit, it makes sense to have 1/3 of the place as salad/low density veg that bulks the meal out. Lean proteins and complex carbs make it a good balanced meal. The problem is that the sw insta huns start pushing their beige foods/treat plates and mad food concoctions. The wording in the handouts needs to change. It’s all ‘pile your plate high’ and ‘eat as much of this as you want’. Many people with food issues overeat and portion control needs to be there. With any slimming club it all depends on the ‘leader’, if they have a poor relationship with food and no nutritional knowledge then they will pass this on to their members. As someone who is a qualified nutritionist , the concept of weight loss is simple (eat less, move more) but in reality, education, mental health issues and socioeconomic factors means that it isn’t so simple for a lot of obese people.

Based on what someone said about SW moving in a diff direction , my consultant was saying today all consultants are getting I think 6 weeks worth of training so interesting to see what comes of it

If they were to move in a diff direction as in CC, not sure if I would be doing that . Measuring and tracking every single item isn’t for me . Ive lost all my weight that I needed to do and currently a target memeber and have maintained for over a year now so I know the current plan works for me

Nothing is changing with the plan the 6 training sessions is to give consultants a refresh of the plan as it's been over 12months since physical groups have been run .

The reason I like SW is because I suffered with an ED in the past and I get overly obsessed with calorie counting, so I find the SW plan a healthy way of doing things with the focus being on eating a balanced diet with lots of fresh produce. I do weigh my carbs e.g. I'll do a 60g portion of dried pasta/rice, as someone else said I keep quiet about that at group or you get pounced on. I do fully understand calorie deficit and macros etc but it's just best I don't do it or it takes over my life. I also always used to eat a lot of convenience foods just because you can easily track the calories without having to weigh everything individually. I ended up back at SW in November last year cos I'd managed to put nearly 20lb on during lockdown and need the accountability! I do feel so much better for it 😊 lost a stone so far and enjoyed every meal. I don't tend to have a lot of 'free' food really even though I could quite happily eat pasta every night for the rest of my life. My losses are slow anyway cos I don't have loads of weight to lose (ideally another stone) so try and have SP meals most days. The thing I don't get with the current SW plan is SP days you can only have 10 syns and EE 15, I think it would make far more sense to have it the other way round 😂 never done the plan with Red/Green days, when I was a member last time it was 2 x HexB on an SP day.

Do you have an insta cos you’re the type of account I need to follow 😂 the new wave of slimming world totally brainwashed me into thinking I can do the plan like them and still lose weight (spoiler: you can’t)

The new 'cheesecake' Easter eggs are doing my head in. Again, nothing Slimming World or in fact cheesecake about them. I would have been told off as a child for filling up an Easter egg shell with a load more crap and I'm not about to start now :ROFLMAO:

I saw someone mash up brownies, mix them with buttercream, stuffed into half an Easter egg 🤢

Grim! Please tell me that was not in the name of SW 😂

to me they just encourage bingeing. Like yes have the Easter egg and enjoy the chocolate but why the need to fill it with rit and double the calories. I really enjoy baking but obviously don't do it very often as it's counter productive, looking forward to making some Easter cupcake boxes to give out. I was going to make a cake but the thing is if it's portioned out you're much less likely to binge, like I'll just have one cupcake as a treat whereas if there was a cake sat there I'll just keep going back and getting tiny slices off it :ROFLMAO: anyway my point is the Easter egg half is controlled but then it's going to be easy to put a few extra mini eggs on or extra cream or whatever concoction takes their fancy that day!

It is so true about the actual true version of the SW plan vs the Insta version! The first time I did SW I did it properly the first few months and the weight absolutely flew off, then I discovered the Insta brigade and their giant portions of beige which really push the envelope of the SW ideals and got to thinking ‘oh well if they can eat that and weigh x then I can too’ weight loss quickly ground to a halt! This time round I’ve been focusing on cooking from scratch and weight loss has been steady, slower than it would be normally cos of lockdown and being out and about as much but the plan does work if you do it properly!
I could have written this! I didn't realise it at the time but finding all these accounts that had cheat days and big portions and tweeks stopped my weight loss. Finding tattle has made me realise that

Said it before and I'll keep on saying it...

SW isn't the problem, the dickheads that follow it and twist the plan to within an inch of it being nothing to do with SW are the problem.

Why would anyone who wants to lose weight think "oooh, It's time for a treat" and then proceed to fill a bleeping easter egg full of more chocolate than willy wonkas got coming out of his hole.
