why isn’t he losing weight isn’t it normal for people to eat 1000 cals for breakfast? 🤦🏻‍♂️😂
If followed properly. slimming world does work, I've done it to the letter and in just over 3 years I've just got my 13st award and got to target for the second time after maintaining my original target for 3 months. It is possible if followed properly and not the insta hun way 😊

Totally agree, in fact I noticed a few pointed comments on a grid post of hers from someone explaining a sustainable loss is 0.5lb to 2lb a week. I cannot fathom how much of a deficit you’d need to be in to have those losses every week consistently.

I noticed the amount of exercise she is doing as well, hourly daily workouts with 1-2 hours walking on top. Seems like overkill and also a little concerning that no breakfasts or lunches are posted.

From personal experience when you lose a lot of weight quickly, all the compliments you get from friends and family can give you such a buzz. I often think doing so drastically well, then as soon as you try to loosen up some habits (ie, that amount of exercise, plus lack of takeaways or eating out being incompatible with any sort of social life) you regain some weight, surely it’s even harder mentally? You have your own thoughts/pressures, plus you’re wondering what everyone else is thinking about it.
I have done previously exactly what she has done and I am now back at my starting weight. I had an Instagram ‘slimming world’ account and I had a moderate following. I lost three and a half stone in 17 weeks. Looking back, it’s embarrassing. It was far too fast, I was far too deprived, but I was addicted to the attention and the praise. At no point did anyone in group say it was too fast or to be more sensible, the slimming world consultants are just obsessed with success, scale numbers and money. When I hit target, the attention stopped. You are no longer making money for slimming world as a target member and it’s the biggest anti climax. All of a sudden, the praise and the attention just stops. I then suffered a massive family bereavement, and stopped going to group. I slowly started to gain. The next time I heard from my slimming world consultant was when she had caught wind I was putting some back on and she knew I was out of target and had monetary value again. I did not go back and but when I look back on my slimming world days, I know they’ve left me with one lasting thing - an incredibly unhealthy attitude to food and disordered eating.

It will be no different for for this little insta hun. She’s certainly not got the right attitude to make and keep a successful account, she appears very rude. But I’d put money on her disappearing one day when she realises that you can’t live on no meals out, no take aways and you can’t keep up 3 hours exercise each day. I feel a little sorry for how delusional she is 😔

It always amuses me when you see someone get really fat again after they were so fucking rude, preachy and condescending to others. People who rammed the plan down others throats, people who had no time for anyone who didn't have 100k followers, people who clearly lied about what they were eating, but became desperate for a sw mag feature and a spice code.... I just think HA! Karma hun 😘🤣🖕not so full of yourself now are you!

just makes me realise how shite it all is. It’s not drawing a line or getting back on track. It’s called having a life. Just shows you how unsustainable it is if having a nice time is “off plan”

Did you ever make the 'heinz' tomato soup with chopped toms, pickled onions and tinned carrots? 🤣 I even made JSG supergreen soup. It's like I was completely brainwashed!
I made fopperholics mug cakes. If that is not a shame in itself alone, I travelled 8 mile to nearest city to specifically get the wheatbran from a holland and barrett.
I believed the hype of it tasting like cake.
It was like eating a brillo pad sprinkled with stevia.

Another one was burger in a bowl with synfree burger sauce that was fromage frais mixed with tomato puree, vinegar, mustard powder, sweetener, chopped gerkins and onions.

I also remember telling a jamaican aquaintance about Carribean Pepper Pot Stew and the look of horror that came on her face when I said one of the ingredients was passata

Would you stop paying to watch Rafael Nadal play tennis or stop flying Virgin Airlines because the owners spend their money on yachts.
Not really the same though is it? Last I checked, watching Rafael Nadal or flying with Virgin Airlines didn’t give people eating disorders.

There’s a section on the website about SlimmingWorld and eating disorders and it states that anyone with a history of an ED will not be allowed to sign up. when you fill out your details in your joining form there is a tick box if you’ve ever suffered an ED. I ticked it and described my situation. My consultant didn’t bat an eyelid and allowed me to join. Unsurprisingly after 2 years I had relapsed back into my ED habits and almost got hospitalised!! My consultant still encouraged me to stay to group (to encourage me to eat correctly). Consultants are NOT trained in supporting or managing disordered eating. My consultant used to just suggest me adding in more healthy extras (not syns though god forbid!) I ended up putting a complaint in to SW HO about how they shouldn’t have allowed me to join if they stand by the statement on their website…I never heard anything back from them. Shock!!

I do an involuntary shudder when I see chopped tomatoes thanks to slimming world...Because they would use them in absolutely EVERYTHING 🤢
Annoys me when anyone makes chips from scratch and calls them "slimming world chips"
They're just potatoes chopped up and thrown in the air fryer. They're not fekkin slimming world chips 😑
My Mum says it all the time 😑

I’ve just joined SW for the first time 2 weeks ago. I’ve read through the thread and agree with what a lot of you are saying however people need to use their heads and eat in moderation. I’ve slowly gained 4 stone in 3 years and managed to lose the first 1/2 a stone in 2 weeks.

For example you’re saying people think they can eat a shit load of ‘SlimmingWorld chips’ or 27 muller lights and lose weight… they’ve got to take personal responsibility and have a handful of chips and one muller light. The same goes with syns… I never knew what a syn was until 2 weeks ago and they’re a good visual for what is bad for you eg I used to buy cold latte drinks in home bargain for 49p- I wouldn’t buy one I’d buy 3 and drink them in a day or 2. A Big Mac burger is 25.5 syns which I was eating weekly so Now I can see where I’m gaining the weight.

I don’t think I’ll be a die hard SW fan… I wanna get the chunk of the weight down and as soon as I feel good enough I’ll be back at the gym and calorie counting.

I don’t know what I’m adding to the thread tbh. I don’t disagree with you but people have to take personal responsibility for their own weight. And all this making crazy concoctions for a sweet treat.. if they’re that desperate have a treat and earn it by doing a walk or bike ride and eat the bloody sweet. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Syns dont give you a good visual of what is "bad" for you though.

You can make a slimming world version of something for 0 syns. Yet the actual version of it will be 20 syns. Yet the one that is 20 syns is less calories than the syn free version.
There's loads of examples of this.

Also as said above, how an avocado is high in syns. But it isn't bad for you.

You can make a syn free "fry up"
And it will still have 1000+ calories

I’ve just officially hit a 3 stone loss since feb from counting calories 6 days a week, no groups or overnight oats in sight 😂 how do they gain in the first week? First week is always the biggest loss in any diet because all the water comes off!

But isn’t it obvious that Big Macs and milky sugary drinks have a high calorific value without the need to be told how many syns are in them?
Also please don’t sink into the ‘good’ vs ‘bad’ food thing. You can lose weight by eating ‘bad’ food in controlled quantities

This is it though isn't it, you're told bacon medallions are free so you can have as much as you like, same for pasta, rice, eggs. I don't or I haven't in my SW experiences over the years ever been encouraged to eat in moderation, it's always about filling up on free food, eating slices of ham, whizzing up polenta as a flour substitute. We were encouraged to snack on as many mullerlights as we wanted at one group.

Losing weight for me is a fucking great albatross around my neck but being told if I have cereal for breakfast I can't have 2 slices of wholemeal toast and a Devils bollock for lunch but could boil a kilo of white pasta and eat that if I wanted... well somethings not right there is it.

Hate to admit it but yeh I think you did hit a nerve. Just trying to slap myself into accountability. Sorry if that came out as wrong as it clearly did. I’m a right gobby cunt sometimes. I’m just tired of failing at every diet I’m trying. They all feel the same to me.

that bit about Swiss roll farts did make me laugh though 😂
Accountability is one of the hardest things with weightloss and something many other us struggle with I think.
Not presuming, but something many people don't realise is that for a 'diet' to work you need to heal the issues you have around food.
What causes you to over eat, what triggers binges etc.
For some people it can be as simple as remembering to meal prep so healthy food fits in a busy schedule.
But for others like myself issues may run deeper.
I grew up in a dysfunctional and abusive home. As a child I used food as comfort. This was something I could never shake off as an adult.
So I eventually realised that whether i did keto, SW, WW if something stressed or upset i'd be straight on justeat.
The things is though I now believe that to truely get a grip on your weight to secret is to stay away from diets and weightloss groups. Diets were making my food relationship worse by giving me fear foods and making me feel more guilty.
Sustainable weightloss can be found through psychological work, routine in meals and enjoying everything in moderation.
3 meals a day maybe a snack or 2 within calorie deficit.
Eat what you enjoy and has healthy as you can.
Don't enjoy shovelling in speed? Don't! You can do eat veg or fruit in other ways.
Hate fat free yoghurt? Have full fat! Hate full fat yoghurt? Have fat free!
If it makes you happy and in calorie deficit go for it.
If its not in your calorie deficit? So what!
If you only lose 2lb in a month? Who gives a fuck its progress. Stay consistant next month you might lose 7.
Our bodies don't work in a 7 day cycle and not seeing a drop on the scale at the end of a week is not failure.

We need to be kinder to ourselves.

I wonder how many facelifts she has had. Old Mags isn’t exactly a size 10 or 12.
Noo she isn't. Mags won't be following SW, because she knows its a con.
She isn't eating quark and iceland sausages.
She's sat in the med drinking champagne and eating the finest steaks and seafood funded by the weekly fivers of fatties.

I’ve lurked on this thread for a while but I don't think I’ve ever posted. It’s stuff like this 👇 that messes people’s up attitudes towards food. Having a ‘naughty snack’ column. It’s just a snack! Classing a 1/2 syn, protein filled yogurt as a ‘naughty snack’ is not right.

I CC now but dithered around with SW for the last 7 years, always gaining and losing the same 2 stone or so, and left for the final time in June.

For my breakfast this morning, I had 6 coconut ring biscuits, 2 boiled eggs and a Kvarg yogurt (admittedly not the best but just felt like them!) For my lunch, I’m having cheese and baked beans on toast and plenty of fruit, and for my dinner, I’m having Youngs battered fish with chips cooked in the ninja and a mound of veg. It comes to 1586 cals for the day, is 7 portions of fruit/veg and smashes my protein goal. If I was doing SW and had the biscuits alone, I’d have been on 12 syns and probably would have just written off the day as I’d get felt like I “started bad” or would have really gone mad on the “free food”, ending up consuming more calories than I needed. It really messed my my head with what I thought I was allowed and not allowed. Even the word “syn” irritates me now.

Maybe I’m a bit of a wet rag but I hate, hate, hate violence. My uncle was killed by one punch. Watching grown men smack ten bells out of each other on a Saturday night makes me sick to my stomach. As much as I’m not a fan of Ross, I feel sorry for him as if he genuinely did nothing wrong (which is sadly often the case) then there’s so excuse for it and it’ll take a long time to mentally recover from it.
I haven’t seen what has actually happened to him but I agree that anyone on this thread who takes genuine pleasure from someone being violently attacked should be ashamed. We can comment on SW and those who are active on IG; and yes he without doubt comes across as arrogant but I similar had a close friend who was attacked on a night out and he never recovered. I do not feel it is acceptable to post pro violence on this or any other thread.
