The X Factor had been dead on its feet for years before it was finally axed, and The Voice is only watchable in the first audition stages then that goes to tit and no one has ever had much of a career out of it apart from Becky Hill. People just aren't into the whole forced talent shows anymore. I'm amazed that BGT is still running, that needed axing 10 years ago too

On episode 2 now. It's horribly tedious - same songs being used over and over as they were in X Factor; Lauren keeps appearing when she seems to have little purpose in life other than following Simon around like a dog with separation anxiety; and there's no way on earth these kids would be singing obscure hits from 15 years ago like Jealous.

It's like groundhog day from the middle X Factor years. And they really belong in the past.

Watched two episodes, that was enough. Same old thing, rehashed. But knowing what we know now, it doesn't feel right. Plenty of former contestants spoke out about how damaging the X-Factor process was for them, that they weren't protected and signed terrible contracts, not knowing any better. Acts like Jedward were gleefully vilified, but they were only 16 year old kids at the time.
Watching teenagers being yet again judged by 40, 50 and 60 year olds last night just didn't sit well with me. That format has had its day.

Not defending it, but boy band members are usually very young when they start.
I think One Direction were between 16-18.
Nick Carter was only 13(!) Justin Timberlake was 14.

Definitely doesn't seem right these days knowing what goes on in the industry.

Thing is now if someone can sing they'll go on tiktok and do some videos and get enough followers to make a living. My daughter recently went to a concert of a guy whose name i cannot even remember but it was a very big venue and if he's got a huge following online and doing well for himself, hopefully without the leeches and perverts in the music industry.

The people who go viral on TikTok usually have a whole PR machine behind them, tbh. Same with selling out a massive venue — you have to be able to book it first.

They seem a decent bunch of lads and have got a few cracking voices among them, but giving them a NYSNC song that's 25 years old and hasn't really stood the test of time - what an utter waste of time. The only way they stand a prayer is to get an original songwriter working with them from the word go. Not old hat covers. This to me shows Cowell's lack of forward direction, he's still stuck in the 2000's.

They seem like a quite talented bunch of lads vocally, with some standout members, but wow, how can Simon have so many incredible, current producers in the show and have them crank out a bland, underproduced cover?

Not to mention the complete lack of training or polish. He wants them to be little Justin Timberlakes, but whatever you think of him, by their age JT was a SEASONED performer, TRAINED singer and dancer. He makes these kids look like absolute amateurs. Then he wants to compete with kpop where the polish makes JT look like a busker.

Oddly I just googed max and cowell but see he chose a winning singer called Max at one point which seems to have overwritten all the nasty stories. How did Clifford die again? He sure took some secrets with him.

can’t stand the bits with Lauren it’s pathetic and reminds me a bit of Alec Baldwin and Hilarious. She brings nothing to the table and makes herself look desperate and clingy
