Bit paranoid about Peach's insistence on sitting with either her caboose or her paws directly touching the radiator. She was doing it yesterday whilst I was sat next to her and she was fully touching it like it was a hot water bottle. Can someone reassure me that she will move if it gets too hot? 😂

Don't worry, it's just cos it's cold. She will def move when she gets too hot.

My first cat lived with us in a tatty and rather draughty Victorian cottage. The only source of warmth was the open fire in the living room.

In the colder months, she would get into the fireplace and lie across the front of the fender, almost touching it. As she was a black cat, she absorbed a fair amount of heat. Once she had toasted herself silly, she'd get up and stagger over by the front door, which opened directly into the living room, and would cool off before repeating the process.

Of course, in the summer, she would stretch out on the corrugated iron roof of the kitchen/bathroom extension and soak up the heat.

After a few years, we moved a few streets away to a completely modern house with no draughts and central heating which she, being a cat, considered a poor substitute for an open fire and was quite vocal in letting us know.

Sorry you had to say goodbye to Evie, when we previously had to say a goodbye we ended up with the three furbabies over time, as the whole left in the heart and home was huge, you enjoy the new memories while treasuring the older ones. Two kittens now have a life of love and a long-term human to boss around.

Merry is currently cooking herself on a radiator she's been there an hour... Trust me... She'll move when she gets a bit too toasty 😜

I feel like my baby has such a high carbon footprint and does he care! Not at all! Buy him loads of toys/beds he doesn’t like, leave the heating on a certain temp for him so he doesn’t get cold!! He’s spoiled sooo much.. he had temu orders on tab!! He needs playing with all of the time so it’s a constant finding a new thing to keep him entertained. I kind of wish we got another kitten when he was still young. But one cat is expensive and double the litter tray I don’t think I could cope.

...I'm a life long vegetarian but have always fed my cats meat/fish...things we do for them eh...when I introduced Evie to Dora, my older cat I had then, wee Evie was raging...Dora got on with all the neighbourhood cats so she was like whatever...why I wanted to get two together as well...lucky to have space, garden and enough to pay for their keep!

It's been cool nearly cold evenings here (even though it's two days till Summer I was in ugg boots and jumper this evening.) Thus I have the rare privilege of cat curled up next to me purring, on 29 November!

I'm beyond delighted that he is so well and happy. Back to zoomies, skidding to meet me at the door, playing with apron strings at the washing line, hiding behind chairs to terrify WoohDog.

I think the Furlax on paw has tipped the see-saw, though a few extra care things have occurred this week. I thoroughly recommend for hairy cats.

But such an enjoyable lazy Saturday night: cat book music candles. The full cat woman cliche here!

...aye, thought this time of year was warm on your side of the world...we've had lashings of rain and wind so typical Scottish November...the boys have discovered the window ledge in bedroom that they can reach from jumping on my chair so have just had an hour playing there..now curled up sleeping beside me...definitely missed the mornings in bed with a coffee and cat and as I live alone it is nice to come home to them...said exactly the same to myself last night when settled down with the boys sleeping and Stranger Things...contented cat woman here!

We have an Aga, and the cats are very smart about not walking across it when it's on. Doesn't stop them sleeping on it in the summer, as then it is lovely and cool, being a big lump of cast iron.

We put their beds in front of it at night.

I was changing the duvet cover this morning.

I barely had it back in the cover when Jimmy landed on it and lay down. I picked him up and put him on the floor and was roundly cursed for it. I went back to sorting out the duvet when he landed on it once again, lay down fully stretched out and pretended to be fast asleep while watching me with one eye open.

He'll never make an actor bless him.

I left him to it.

Has anyone make their cat a birthday cake before? Cleo will be two on Monday. A lot of recipes recommended potato but I don't see her eating potato at all 🤣

When I make them a cake, I just try (&fail) to keep the shape of the tin when I scoop out the fishy contents 😹 they never seem to mind though 🎂🐈

I find a pile of dreamies usually just suffices. I know with my fussy little babies anything I made into a cake, even if they had loved it the day before would be rejected just to annoy me I presume 😅 same as when I've bought them a large quantity of food they've liked which was on sale 😅

I saw a few recipes online so my idea is to buy cooked salmon and chicken, layer that with some cat treats and use one of those lick treats as a topping. I will show results but I have a feeling she will turn her nose up! She's been turning her nose up at the treats in her advent calender. The wee rit.

I'm going to use this experiment to see if I should try in the future 😅
