3 kittens arrived from 10pm last night until about 1. She did very well. I was expecting her to hide but she actively sought us out and took herself into the birthing box i have put in a corner of our dining room for her. She will be spayed as soon as they are weaned, it wasn't nice to see her in pain

Not as exciting in any way as @Lauryloo news but I went to the pet shop to pick up some stuff and for the first time toys I got were appreciated. Ignore all of the background chaos as usual, little boy in his new tunnel with his catnip toy while big sister watches 😅

Oh I’ve noticed a couple of you have a bowler hat on avatar? What’s It about🥰
There's a way to add it in account settings, can't remember how but if you go tk the food and drink thread there are instructions a couple of pages back 😊

Spot the first time cat owners...

P woke us up on Sunday by making a sound at the end of the bed that sounded like when someone has a panic or asthma attack. You know that 'heh, heh, heh' type wheeze? She had her mouth closed the whole time though which made us confused as surely if its her breathing she'd want her mouth open? We called the vets instantly and played them the recording of the sound she was making. Apparently, cats make a very similar sound when they're getting ready to clear their hairballs. Scared the life out of us but better safe than sorry!

Yes,my Whisper two days she didn’t eat, made funny noises in her throat, hid as well, then later next day she started eating, she’d been out as well, she’s long haired,I think it was a nasty furball.

Meanwhile the last time my cat threw up a furball I freaked out (not directly at her, I’m not a complete monster) because of course she had chosen to sit herself down on an expensive rug, the only expensive rug we’ve ever owned, to yak it up. Excellent 👍🏻

I feel for you @ThisIsMyDragName
I have been you
I am you

You'd be surprised how often I declare I will live in a penthouse NO PETS ALLOWED and I CAN'T WAIT, while I caress their face/neck/paws etc

Sorry about your rug, though.

I'm considering starting a thread called Fantasy Rugs: a life without animals

Bit of a disaster here, cat got a fright and went into sitting room and pissed on two sofas, they're velvet.
Have tried cleaning with special solution and using a Vax carpet cleaner but there's still a smell.
Should I cut my losses and bring to dump or can they be salvaged?

P has had a couple and I think it's because she's so confused by our up-and-down weather and her poor little coat doesn't know when to grow or shed. We've ordered her a new brush as I don't think the current one is cutting it and hopefully she'll be fine!

No don't dump the sofas, there has to be something to get the smell out. Maybe vinegar? Or better yet, there is a thread on here that offers cleaning advise, actually I think there's a few.
This 1 is in the advice thread: Your tips on how to keep your home glamorous #4

How is the cat now?

That'd be a great coffee table book. I'd buy it so I could live vicariously 😅

My poor old cat also is adapting to her new diet and I think she hates her new tiny cat litter as much as me, so we keep having minor litter tray accidents where she shoots out of there too early with a small dingle berry. That keeps being smushed into our bedsheets, so we have been changing the bedsheets A LOT. There’s been a couple of on carpet incidents too. Coupled with the amount she has been sick over the last few weeks whilst we got to diagnosis and started her treatment, I honestly think we might actually have fully hand scrubbed the entire flooring in our house. Except our soon to be nursery which we’ve been keeping mostly but not entirely off limits. Her stamping poop about when I’m 4ish weeks off giving birth concerns me (from the baby point of view when he’s here), hopefully she will dislike him being loud and unpredictable and will naturally give him a bit of a wide berth. How we manage our IBD diagnosed, old, apparently child-hating cat with a newborn could be a challenge….

I present to you my expense rug.... covered with a grey bedsheet as both Merry and Loki think it's a super large scratch mat,.. this is why we can't have nice things (wouldn't have it any other way 😊).

3 am and I was woken by heavy rain beating against the window.

I muttered something and turned over to go back to sleep.

Unfortunately, having been lurking and waiting for such an opportunity, what actually happened was that 6 kilos of Jimmy landed on me.

After being informed about the rain and what an outrage it was, I was then 'reminded' that his food bowl was empty and his litter tray full.
