They don’t bother me, but I don’t think all the scenes in Bridgerton were necessary. IMO it was all for column inches and press attention.

I find, for the most part, they are entirely unnecessary and just serve to slow the plot down. Or, they are there to distract from a weak plot and just get very boring.
Sometimes they work, though. Did anyone used to watch Versailles? Lots of sex in the first series but it worked because they were presented in a way to demonstrate the debauchery of the palace. I thought that was fine.

Dull and usually unnecessary to the plot. I used to get so embarrassed watching sex scenes with my parents, the atmosphere was so uncomfortable. I still feel like this now to be honest.
With my own children when this happened I think I said something along the lines of ‘who’s embarrassed enough to go make some tea’ and so it broke the ice and it became our joke from there on in.

It depends on what I am watching and the plot. If you watch 50 shades of grey you expect sex scenes because of the plot. I am watching Bridgerton at the moment and do think there is too much sex in it. I am not a prude

Now I'm older I can see that some nude stuff in films might be creepy directors gettings kicks. Titanic would still have had the same box office impact had kate winslet not exposed her clackers.
I agree with you about the creepy director using required nude scenes for their own titillation. Kate went on to regret that scene.
Despite going on to do several other nude scenes in a number of her subsequent movies, Winslet has expressed that her first one in “Titanic” was one she always regretted because of the fact that she was young and insecure and wanted to do anything to get famous, even something she was absolutely not comfortable with.

It's when American Pie is on when you're sat with your fellas Mum and he sticks his fool into the piecringe
My mum walked past my bedroom when I was sneakily watching American pie and was like “no you can’t watch this!!” And turned it off. After that I use to have to stick head phones in the tv to watch it and stick my head right forward (as there was a gap between my bed and tv). It was very uncomfortable but worth it
I always find it fascinating that we sometimes feel incredibly awkward/uncomfortable watching sex scenes in front of the oldies despite it being the most natural thing in the world. And yet we don't really mind watching people being shot, stabbed and generally buggered about with in horror/thriller films.
For example, a few days ago I watched "Evil Dead 2" with my parents, and despite all the gore and decapitations we really enjoyed it. And yet if I had suggested we watch "Desert Hearts" or "Blue is the Warmest Colour" they would have probably said no due to the nudity and girl-on-girl sex scenes.

Yes its a strange one, but I suppose its the intimacy of sex where as I don't feel any intimacy watching violent scenes.
Most of them are unnecessary and add nothing to the plot. I could live without them, and I can think of nothing more awkward than watching one with your parents, grandparents, or older children.

I like the sex scenes in Girls as they're usually painfully awkward and serve a purpose to the story. The best one is the first time (I think) Adam and Hanna hook up and you see her struggling with her tights. I hate the obviously fake sex scenes when it's someone always shagging up a wall, fully clothed, and we're expected to believe it all got lined up on the first thrust. OH, and what REALLY annoys me is the woman keeping her bra on and IMMEDIATELY wrapping herself in the sheet post coital. If you're not gonna show nip then just don't do a sex scene.

This is what I wonder too... I am an oldie and these things are common these days but knowing a thing or two..I wonder. My hubby said they cant get worked up that much with all the hot lights and cameras and the microphone stuck over them and all the production team standing about waiting for tea break.... so I also wonders who is right
As my handle and avatar here suggests, I am a big fan of the film "Mulholland Drive". A film of which contains a fairly tasteful les love scene.
However, I did read a behind-the-scenes interview with one of its stars, Naomi Watts (the woman on the right in my avatar pic). She said she found it incredibly difficult to perform a necessary self scene near the end of the film. So much so the director - David Lynch - had the scene closed off to only one cameraman, a lighting guy, sound man and Lynch himself. But even then she found it hugely difficult to "perform"
And yet in the same interview she said she didn't have a problem with the nude les scene with Laura Harring (woman on the left in my avatar pic)
