Serial Killers?

I’m just watching on Investigation Discovery uk,episodes of ‘Night that didn’t end’ very sad,but some of the young girls get together with ‘Hmm weird blokes’ Get pregnant, blokes obviously don’t want to know and all goes on from there, but they have to be sick guys to murder them.I was watching and mother is obviously distressed but keeps going on about the baby etc,why didn’t she teach her child about not getting pregnant,it seems to me girls get pregnant, all they want to do,no interest in careers etc, just being home maker, can understand but I just think it’s abit sad.Oh well.

For me, the Wests have fascinated me since a very young teenager. I think I have read every single book and watched every single documentary, one book I read went into the full, detailed childhoods of both, which really captured my interest. However unless new bodies are uncovered (I'm very convinced there are more) ... I have pretty much covered them in their entirety.
Around the time that the story broke about the Wests, I was doing a printing course at an art college, which was only a few streets away from Cromwell Street where the Wests lived. I never visited the street, whilst the investigation was going on, I thought it might be too ghoulish to do that.
The house is no longer there, it was flattened and made into a walk way. It gives me a grisly feeling, just walking down that street - which isn't often.

Have you read the one written by their daughter?
I always wondered how the rest of the family were doing. Did the rest of the children stil grow up together or were they separated? And did they have to change their names/identities?

I read about the Jeffrey Dahmer case for the first time last week and couple believe it. That poor guy (child?) who died because the police believed they were just having a “lovers tiff”...

I’ve always been interested in the Fred and Rose West case, although it seems such a grim thing to be interested in. Can anyone recommend any books?

Im from the same town where lindsay quy got murdered and used to see her husband afterwards walking around with the kids (he got finally caught) he played the police and press so much even went on this morning saying he was innocent. I see her family regularly around town and there faces are still tormented from it all even one of her family members killed himself over it all. If he ever gets released he better not step foot back in this town as its still as raw today as it was when it happened

Yes I have read this it’s absolutely horrific but I was enthralled

Can’t believe there’s a serial killer thread I’m in my element! Yorkshire ripper was always my main interest and the moors murders but I like to research other things

I have a long standing interest in the case of Fred and Rose West. I’ve read so many books, articles and watched documentaries. I think some day in the not too distant future, more bodies will be found in fields around Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and beyond, in relation to this.
There’s a programme on itv next week aboit Myra and rose relationship its a Trevor McDonald one. I know a lot aboit both but never realised they had a relationship

I'm obsessed with serial killers. I remember when I was a child I asked my mum if I could write a letter to Peter Sutcliffe!
I have also done this. He was my ‘favourite’ 😂😂

You guys are gonna Hate me for finding this thread but I’m obsessed. An interesting one to look at and although not serial killers I find very interesting in fact I’ve probs spent the most time on this one. It’s the Rettendon Range Rover murders. The Essex boys. So many theories it’s insane and the info that’s out there. Defo worth a look into

Love this thread!
huge interest in murders... recently I’ve gone from watching documentaries to confession interviews.
chris watts was my recent watch (Guy kills pregnant wife and 2 kids in Colorado), absolute stone cold, vile man. The body cam footage of the initial police call out, wife’s friends getting involved, his neighbours Ring camera catching him moving the bodies and his behaviour change/getting caught was fascinating to watch!
I think it’s called “how police caught Chris watts” on YouTube.

I still think Myra and Ian Brady have more victims
I don’t. And my theory is Ian didn’t reveal where Keith bennett was because he simply did not know or remember. I don’t think there was more victims. But what we need to remember is we all know what we know because of Myra. She was the one who told the story and give the info and tried to blame it on Ian so she would get away with it. This backfired on her. Ian never spoke about any of it. She was his toy. The reason they got caught was because Ian tried to involve Dave smith his brother in law. It is believed this is because he was getting fed up of Myra and wanted a new recruit. I refuse to believe this was all Ian and I also refuse to believe they are psychopaths. I think they wanted to do this, so they did.

Did Ian tell the police he didn’t know? I’m sure I heard he would play a game, say he’ll show them where he is then he never did show them?

What I find fascinating, is that Myra used to babysit some of her neighbors children before she met Ian. I think had she not met him, she would never have considered this or something similar. She would have lived a quiet life, raised a family and we would never have known her. She’s absolutely evil and 100 percent responsible for what she did, I’m not disputing that. But I think my point is how she became a murderer by circumstance. It’s quite scary to think someone could get you into such a way of thinking.

I think Ian always had it in him. He used to be cruel to animals as a teen I believe. They say that many murderers initially start on animals.

Completely agree. I didn’t know Ian admitted there. It was always my theory. I think he played on the fact he was keeping a secret but in actual fact he didn’t know. Totally agree with you again aboit Myra. Had she not met Ian she probably would t have took this path. But I do not blame him for her actions. She knew full well what she was doing. Myra was used. Her being a woman and being more approachable to lure these children

Hindley and Brady are a perfect example of two people who, together, feed and drive each other’s inner demons. The result is tragic. I think Ian Brady definitely would have committed serious crimes if he had not met her, would that have been murders? Who knows.

Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka are another interesting one. He was a serial rapist, but not a killer. Together with his wife they started kidnapping and raping younggirls then moved to murder. Including her little sister. Their case is crazy especially the plea deal she secured. Before video tapes were found showing her as a VERY active participant in the crimes.

Ian told his psychiatrist

allegedly he wrote a letter to Keith’s mother which disclosed the location of his body, and said she could have it once he died. He wanted to die the whole time he was in prison and this was of course prevented by the justice system.
I think he knew full well; he loved being in control even from prison...
Also the disclosure of Bennett’s body would have reduced Myras sentence, that’s why she helped-purely for herself. She did a full 360 on Ian once they got caught, and that enraged him even more.. I think that’s another reason he didn’t tell.
I hope one day the little boys body gets found, I still feel sad for his family and his late mother.

My uncle was one of the prison officers who had to accompany Rose West to court. Closest I hope to get to a serial killer. My friends dad was a police officer and worked on the West case too.

I hope for their sake that they are not exposed to the public after what their parents did. Despite them being innocent of any wrongdoing relating to the behaviour of the West’s, I feel that the general public would make them feel as though it was their fault and they should be held accountable.

Leave them be.

I hope they have made decent lives for themselves and turned out to be the exact opposite of their parents.

Great thread! Serial killers petrify me but fascinate me. I am a little like some of the posters on here though who say they can’t detach themselves from it and get too emotionally invested. So I probably shouldn’t be on this thread but here I am 😂 Currently obsessing about Dennis Neilson after watching Des. Also if anyone is interested and not already on there, this thread is really good to get your brains obsessing. Not directly about serial killers but really interesting....
