Does anyone have anything about Jennifer Lawrence and her break from Hollywood? I read that she was given her Oscar after sleeping with Harvey Weinstein - but took a break when it came out. She hasn’t done anything in a while.

Think he pursued Anna Faris when she was with someone else and they technically didn't get together then but she drove straight from signing the divorce papers to his place He was fine with her as long as she was more famous and then not so much when the situations reversed.

IIRC, Anna discovered Chris wanted to leave her for JLaw (Passangers movie) and left him then.

The DM comments section at the height of the Weinstein scandal was - interesting - to say the least.

Many men seemed to have that tunnel-visioned, simplistic mindset that many women in Hollywood are mercenary and don't care about the casting couch, even, that it was a transaction that was to be expected (in old Hollywood, Joan Crawford's climb to the top was full of such tawdry tales - if you believe what you read). Or even that some "regretted" sleeping with Weinstein and then changed their minds to make them look like a victim rather than a consenting partner, because they felt guilt or shame, or feared for their public image.

I don't doubt this happens, but I bet this is uncommon. Concentrating on this aspect diminishes the pain, frustration and hurt these women have gone through - who did they have to complain to? How could they ressurect their career after angering an influential, evil man? Some rising starlets' careers seemed to fade out after they crossed him, (funny that), and how heartbreaking it must be to be stonewalled after years of hard work trying to build your profile.

I wonder what to make of Jennifer Lawrence, you hear some not-very-nice stories about her as a person, in general. I do know that her property was reported as selling for many millions less than the asking price, recently - according to the DM, anyway, yesterday.

What we can say with absolute certainty is, rape and manipulation is about power, and Mr Weinstein is the one who abused that power and got away with it for a long time. Harvey also had associates who collaborated in his sleazy "meetings", or who had suspicions but turned a blind eye, who should also be accountable. It's been an open secret in Hollywood for years! (Remember that Courtney Love quote?).

Bet there are other similar ratbags who are (I hope) quivering in their boots.

Apparently, the reason Jameela Jamil hasn’t had any more work in Hollywood, is because her Munchausen’s has made her uninsurable.

She is so prone to claiming illness and injuries that no one will insure productions with her in the cast.

I think it's important to bear in mind that to be successful in the entertainment industry does require a very unhealthy level of narcissism.

Of course, this does mean that many untalented people fall into this category.

But one has to acknowledge that the likes of Prince etc. weren't the nicest people (he's not the worst by far, but he really did have his moments). And that they wouldn't have been so successful if they were.

The only celeb I've heard uniformly good things about is George Michael.

i was reading an article about her yesterday in which she went on and on about her ‘weight loss journey’. She claimed that she ate too much because of low self-esteem, thus it was not her fault that she was 20 stone. Narcissism at its finest. Yes, her self-esteem was so low that she has been a beady-eyed, sharp-elbowed, cling on at all costs TV presenter for years after leveraging a stint on Big Brother 18 years ago (I think).

Aww, I like her. I did actually meet her once, she was on a date in a quiet restaurant we were in, they were on the next table.

She came across as a lovely person. We waited until they were leaving before I approached to say hello and ask for a photo (Dont judge me... I'd loved her on Big Brother,! ) and she was sooo nice, really friendly, smiley, warm and chatty. Pretty too.

She made jokes about being on a rare date. Really great personality.

I liked her even more after meeting her.

Talking of "Blunt". Any Goss on James Blunt? I used to loathe him, only (unfairly) for the fact that his music is so bloody boring.

But since I started following him on Twitter a couple of years back, I absolutely rate the bloke. His sense of humour is total gold. A very funny man and happy to take the piss out if himself and his mm music's reputation.

I hope he's lovely IRL.
