The fact that he can't come up with a plausible alternative does him no favours. The conflicting accounts at interview and on the stand, plus the fact that he was clearly a bit pissed and/or high, is just all so unconvincing. Nothing heard so far suggests to me that he intended to murder her, but the recklessness alone seems undeniable.

"What the jury did not hear was that Vickers was convicted of wounding with intent and sentenced to two years’ detention in 1993 when he was aged 19.
He has six previous convictions in total'

Was that deliberately held back from the jury to avoid prejudice?

He only seems distressed at the situation because it was an inconvenience to him.

If the Jury did not know about the violent history they did well to convict Murder imo - they have seen straight through him!
I've a feeling it was a case of not what he said but how he said it, they must have picked up something in his body language or emotions (lack of).

Absolutely awful. The mother must know more.

Throwing grapes turned into kitchen knives. Wonder if any grapes were found at the scene.

I have questions.
Is the dad an Alcoholic?
I've read a comment on a different page saying he used to go to work drunk talking bad about scarlet?

I think that they probably didn't have the best relationship anyway, he's been drunk and they have maybe argued and he's went too far. He would have to be close to her and have a tight grip on the knife to kill her. If he had just picked up the knife and thrown it, it may have landed somewhere else or done a little bit of damage. The fact her Mum and other family members all think it was an accident I can't understand it.

You’d think some school friends would know if she’d been unhappy at home. Maybe the community has closed ranks.

I'm really shocked at the guilty verdict. I think he absolutely deserves it but thought they'd be reasonable doubt fir murder that would make it manslaughter. His lies have caught up with him.
Motive still really puzzles me, I'm sure more will come out about the family now the media can report on it.

I'm wondering if the mum did the actual stabbing and he is covering for her? Really curious what her role in all this is. She must have seen the whole thing and was originally charged with murder and then released. They must have some evidence indicating it was dad if it's him on trial
I was wondering this too.

I’m glad justice has been done for poor Scarlett. I really hope that whatever comes out about the family, that her privacy is respected. I can’t help but think of her poor friends as well, friendships at that age are everything, they must be devastated.
