Ooh I'm surprised, I was expecting manslaughter only. The garbled excuses and changing story must have been what did for him. Whatever happened exactly, it's undeniably his fault. RIP Scarlett.

He'd have to be the strongest person in history to throw a knife from close range (and apparently over his shoulder) that penetrated clothing and then 11 cm deep into a person. What a ridiculous defence.

The mother is very lucky to not go down for murder as well, I think she saw the whole thing. How convieient she had her back turned when Scarlett called him a wimp and he stabbed her.

It comes across to me that he’s been drinking all day, is probably drunk and potentially being abusive to his wife and Scarlett has unfortunately got in the way. Some of his comments are very narcissistic

This is a laughable defence if it wasn't so sad. Why doesn't the mother say what actually happened? What would she have to gain by lying? Unless she wants to protect her partner who murdered their child

I saw an update on my local news last night saying that the forensic pathologist was first to give evidence anz had said how it would be almost impossible for what the Dad has said happened. They said with how deep it went it would've had to have been close and forceful. The defence cross examined and asked if Scarlett had any defence injuries which she didn't.

They have quoted the pathologist words verbatim in the Mirror. I can’t link but it’s pretty damning and I can now see why the jury managed to convict murder. Reading between the lines I’m guessing there’s been arguing/fighting in the kitchen when he was trashed. He’s gone to attack the wife and Scarlett has got involved, maybe given him a piece of her mind and he’s stabbed her. Or it did start as horseplay and she has said something he didn’t like and he’s just lost it. The footage of him at the police station pretending he doesn’t understand what happened and whining about his holiday is sickening and I bet the officers could smell the lies coming off him as well as the drink fumes.

He gets 15 years yet poor Scarlett had only lived for 14 years - robbed of a lifetime. Cunt has shown zero remorse too. Hope that there's an appeal and his sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime - murdering your own child in cold blood and doing everything possible to get away with it.

Murdering your own child and then lying about it has got to be up there with pretty much the worst of human behaviour

I still find it incredibly strange the mother appears to have be completely left out of the whole case from a legal perspective. And she must have been in hiding for this to be the only photo of her (that I know of) because surely the press would be interested? All so odd.

Maybe it is indicative of how little care and concern was shown by her whole family. Cannot understand how they are accepting this feeble excuse.

This is a weird one, nothing seems to add up. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds as there's already massive inconsistencies in what he's saying. There's no way what he said happened would result in such horrific injuries. I'm interested in how the mother fits in to all this as well.

Tbh I just don't understand why you'd throw any kitchen utensils at each other.....I mean, I could understand a tea towel or something like that, cos I've done that myself...but I'd never throw tongs or spatulas or knives at anyone 🤷‍♀️ the story makes literally no sense, and I would not stand by and support my daughters dad if he had done that even if it was "an accident" as he thought he was throwing another utensil at her.
I don't even believe that's what happened though tbh, I think he's stabbed her deliberately or went to stab the mother and the girl has got in the way but they think he will get off with it if they make it seem like a play fight got wrong.

But again...WHO PLAY FIGHTS WITH ACTUAL UTENSILS?!
This sounds the most likely circumstance I wonder if the mother is still scared of him

Wow I didn't expect that result like most people. I guess the jury's logic is why the blatant lies and changing his story if it was an accident. I think there's a lot more we're not hearing about this case

In response, Vickers' father Barrie said: "He would never in a million years have hurt her deliberately. Scarlett was his life."

Even her own grandparent believes it was an accident... how did the knife go far so in then? Poor Scarlett.
