I’d say good riddance to you if you were in my friendship group! She might absolutely love eating what she wants and feel confident at a bigger size. She might go into a dark room and cry for a few days over then pics. She might be battling with her image every day, I’ve been her size, I’m now nearly 5 stone lighter, when you’re that size you’re very much away what size you are, you don’t need friends or family to tell you how big you are to make you feel even worse
Totally agree with this!! People say these things like the person is totally oblivious to what they look like. Other people’s weight is absolutely none of anyone else’s business! Whether she doesn’t care or maybe she’s desperately trying to change but that’s up to her and doesn’t affect anyone else. Also I think she looks fine, she’s said multiple times she’s battled with weight and some people generally are just happier in life to just be a little of the bigger side. That’s totally okay and I absolutely hate that some people in society are so against this still.

Don’t like her, very fake. I think the comment on her having a fallout over free stuff sums her up. Was looking at her home account and it says “small businesses DM for collabs”. Idiots. Her followers won’t order from them, they’ll go to b&m where they can get some generic mirrored furniture or velvet accessories for 1/5 of the £ 🤣

She seems genuine and had some really funny moments on gogglebox, but I think she was overexposed a few years ago- was on everything and got fed up of her! Thankfully that seems to have died down.

I think she comes across well on tv. Seems like someone that has an opportunity and made the most of it. Good for her! Hope she’s raking it in 💰

Okay, reading the story fully I do actually feel sympathy for Scarlett's mum as it sounds like a problem that just got out of control really quickly, and any addiction is a bloody horrible thing. Plus we are living in such uncertain, weird times I can see it making normally good people go mad in one way or another, maybe that's what happened here.

Betty is really lucky Scarlett still has enough money to get her the best help. Hope it works out for them.

I quite liked her on Gogglebox and I ended up listening to her autobiography- thought she came across well. Good sense of humour.

I live near where she used to work and the gossip is that she was lazy AF at work and used to sit at her desk painting her nails.
My kinda girl.

So you'd watch someone you care about make bad lifestyle choices instead of talking to them about it? If someone I cared about what overweight and I didn't try to help them and then they got bad health issues then I would feel guilty for not speaking up.
I might subtly suggest. I wouldn’t discuss it if they didn’t bring it up first. Probably would carefully with OH or a very close relative but not anybody else. People lose weight, stop addictions when they are ready to. Not because X has pointed out they are making bad lifestyle choices. They are adults, why would you feel guilty about their choices.

It must be so hard being a gambling addict, you can bet on anything at all, any time, day or night.

I’m 100% not condoning anyone stealing though.

Gambler’s Anonymous worked wonders for a friend of mine, he hasn’t bet in over 6 years.
Apparently, it is one of the hardest addictions to treat. It can also lead to alcoholism.

Every celebrity/influencer/whatever has the perfect 'out' when it comes to discussing weight loss which is to say 'As someone in the public eye I'd rather not discuss that, as I have some young fans and wouldn't want to influence them regarding weight loss'.
“However I’ll happily pose for interviews and come out with blatant lies about how I lost the weight, which will make my young fans feel crap when their own attempts to lose weight in a healthy way don’t have the same results.”

Just say you’ve had the jags Scarlett, everybody and their dogs getting them - nobody’s judging.

Moffat has probably made the money Betty stole back, and then a bit, from selling the story.
I had a compulsive gambler family member steal money off my parents. We would never have dreamed of telling people. Addicts feel terrible shame as it is, without that.

I think if I'd just read the DM article I'd be a bit sceptical, but from her stories you could see it had REALLY shaken her up.

I'm pretty sure all Newcastle trains come into Kings Cross, so a 'fan' creepy weirdo would very easily know where she'd be, and based on her posting that she was setting off at say 12pm, would be easily able to check arrival times.

Yes it could have just been a drunk random, but that wasn't how it sounded, and she was clearly scared.

I do think it's a lesson about putting your life on social media, especially as a woman travelling alone. I think she'll be a lot more circumspect about what she says on her whereabouts in future.

That’s not a very nice thing to say ! Her weight is her business not anybody else’s
She's not curvy she's obese and nobody wants her to come to harm, but if she doesn't get healthier and in better shape then struggles are going to come at her a lot younger than they should.

Scarlett is appearing on Pilgrimage on BBC2 on Friday nights. This is a series, if you don’t know, where a set of celebs/well known people of different religions, walk a pilgrimage. There have been several incarnations of the programme and she is in the latest one with Lawrence LBowen and Nick Hewer, plus a Sikh cricketer called Monty, an Emmerdale actress and a female stand up. Scarlett is quite religious. She found comfort in God when she was growing up. I have heard her say before on a podcast that she wasn’t popular at school and she was lonely, and just read a lot. I am not religious but I found the first one interesting. I find Scarlett to be very genuine, interested in other people, sensitive. She got emotional in the first episode due to the joking around of LLB and NH. I think she thought they were being disparaging about religion and playing up for the cameras. I would agree with her about those two. She has struck up a friendship with the cricketer.

I don’t think fame has changed her, except she lives in a nice house. I think she fully appreciates her good fortune. She looks fake with her orange tans and make up, but I think she uses it all to mask insecurities. There is more to her than meets the eye. The comment upthread about her asking someone to put her luggage up - she said on this programme she is 4 foot 11. I am a couple of inches taller than her, I struggle with overhead lockers and have asked for help before. It didn’t make me a diva, just a short arse with weak upper body strength.

Oh my gosh that's horrible! Seems like it happened during lockdown too, scary how fast an addiction can take hold! I really liked Betty on Gogglebox too.

Oh my god yes who needs family like that!
I feel sorry for her thats an awful thing for your own mother to do!
I'm shocked poor scarlett.
