TW: themes of domestic violence & violence towards and eventual murder of a child.

We’re all following the live updates for the trial for the murder of infant Star Hobson provided by the Telegraph & Argus, they set it as the main banner image daily for anyone who would like to follow.

As the court does not sit on weekends the trial is due to continue on Monday 6th December at 10.30am, with Zafar Ali QC’s closing speech in defence of Frankie Smith (mother of Star Hobson).

The judge had asked the jury to be available up until Christmas. Is this because she anticipates that it will take the jury a long time to agree?

I just wanted to ask peoples thoughts on this where the judge asks FS how blood got in the toilet. I was wondering whether she was trying to extract something that would give weight (or not) to whether FS was telling the truth.

I guess if you ‘leak’ whilst on period, blood will be left on the seat so you might bleach it for that reason? Rather than bleaching inside the toilet.

Not sure if I’m overthinking this. The issue of what FS was doing in the toilet seems to be important from the transcripts?

I personally thought she was just clarifying if for the jury - that it was Frankie’s blood and didn’t come from anyone else - but I’m honestly not sure.

It did seem an odd question at the time - but you're right that makes sense - clarifying for the (largely male) jury who may or may not have realised that blood can indeed drip into the toilet.

I find it really strange that they’re acting like it’s not possible that SB could have picked up the sanitary towel and put it in the bin. It’s not a wild claim or even something that could potentially incriminate SB further. She was in the flat for 7 minutes right? That’s a long time to just to collect your keys, it’s highly likely she could have gone to the toilet/tidied up briefly.

Probably being over dramatic but as the 'loo' scene is so important to where FS was at the time and her version how the timings went, surely the SOC would have checked look for fingerprints ie: who last pressed the flush? if SB did 'clear up' and if FS did leave it unflushed, maybe fingerprints on the pad in the kitchen, if it was the fresh one. I wonder how much scene of crime evidence the jury see or are given in writing, that isn't reported on?

It's almost astonishing that these 7 minutes weren't 'accounted' for in trial. Obviously ZA/AM didn't think it's relevant enough but in fact, it can discredit FS version of events regarding 'dropping the pad'.

I don’t think they’d be able to determine who was the last to flush the toilet, just that both of them had at some point (which wouldn’t be weird). There’s always the potential that SB could’ve worn gloves if it was her who moved the pad.

I tend to skip the weekend threads as it does get really odd.
There are very few forums that can discuss sub justice cases without being completely shut down by mods.
This has stayed open for 10 threads.
99 per cent of posters have brought insightful Interesting comments and that’s what makes Me pop in.
20 yrs plus of being and working in criminal barristers chambers makes me very aware of the system.
Seen it all, I thought I had heard it all.
There is always that one case that revolts all

And also being married to a barrister … I do know how they tick.
I know how much preparation goes into a high profile case like this …. It’s immense.
I also know bits about SB that I would never reveal here, it’s not my place.
justice needs to be done and also be “ seen to have been done “
That’s what common law is all about.

But lose the puffer ffs.

And yes it does matter !

Your job must be so interesting.
Can't help being intrigued re SB. Are you at liberty to say if what you know will become public knowledge once the verdict is reached?

Lol. They won’t know anything. It’s unprofessional for them to even suggest knowing.

This is going to be slightly off topic, but I hope the mods will allow the post to remain.

From following this particular case, what;

• will never leave you, that you have heard over the last few weeks?

• what signs of abuse would you notice now, in your life, that you may not have been aware of before?

• any advice you could go back and give yourself at the start of the trial?

Sorry; my wifi just went a bit mad and it repeated the questions.

Oh I'm sure there'll be plenty of dirt on the witch once she's charged
She’s already been charged, I’m guessing you mean convicted. Yes I’m waiting for all sorts to come out about her!

No I can absolutely not say the private bits I know.
it’s sub justice private details regrading her time in custody.
However I have nothing to to add on anything else.
however the media spin things it’s not always the case.
it will always come tumbling out after conviction. Always does.

im suggesting NOTHING

I looked at Jordan’s Twitter and all he seems to do during this high event time in his life is like a load of porno pics. Not like there’s anything major going on in his life is there.
