I watched the full thing. Here’s my breakdown if you cba to waste an hour and 10 mins:I just watched the teaser of the podcast she appeared in. she said that she went into debt to save SLA, but she also said that she is currently hardly working. this doesn't add up for me. when you've gone into debt, you want to do everything you can to pay off that debt quickly, no?
I agree she came off quite well in the podcast, but the host was insufferableI watched the full thing. Here’s my breakdown if you cba to waste an hour and 10 mins:
She also claimed she paid her staff out of her own personal money and ended up in personal debt. This was around mid of 2024. Yet she was still holidaying and eating out etc. she stated a debt collector wanted £50,000 at around Xmas time 2024.
it was a fairly interesting watch tbf, she admitted she had no clue on how to run a business and fair play for her admitting that.
The whole thing is about an hour and 10 mins long and I’ll be honest it was quite repeated. Also the host really annoyed the duck out of me. Like she talks about herself ALOT! I’m not hear to listen to you, I’m here to listen to Sarah. But yeah it is quite repetitive
She claims Joe would have been useless if they’d stayed together during the business downfall. She has nothing nice to say about him at all
she talks about liquidation costs and states it cost £12,000 to liquidate the company so customers got refunds. She claims she paid this out of her own pocket. It’s weird thou considering people have complained on here that they’ve never received a refund
She claims she never paid herself a salary from SLA as well which seems a bit odd.
she stated she would be open to run another business as long as someone did it with her. Almost felt like her way of putting herself out there for potential investors or business partners.
She also stated she will be looking at going to therapy to go through her trauma. Tbh I think what she said here was a good point, she’s come out the end now so this would be a good place to start with it so I can understand why she’d want to do that now
overall it was a fairly interesting watch but it could have been done in about 20 minutes. The whole thing was very repetitive and the host was irritating. Sarah actually came across quite likeable. She kept saying how she cares more about how her life feels over how it looks and in some ways I hope she sticks to that, I think your whole adult life being in the social media spotlight must take its toll, she does seem a lot more at peace which was quite nice to see
Interesting as I know nothing about that industry. Lots of influencers start businesses whether it's clothing or makeup and it does make you think about what they know and who is guiding them.I agree she came off quite well in the podcast, but the host was insufferable
Having worked in fashion buying and merchandising, I can say sarah was very naive and she would not have got herself into the mess she was in if she had hired a merchandiser, garment tech and buyer rather than managing the factory herself. Hiring these people would've cost roughly 100k a year.
She said she was dealing with her factory for a year which she says is a while, this is not a long time at all and even if it were longer, she should've got a sample for every garment to gold seal sign off before they shipped, and once the stock was in the UK it shouldve been checked rather than going straight online. How can a customer be telling you the rhinestones are the wrong colour, this should be instantly recognisable as soon as the stock can from the factory. If she would've done this, she wouldn't have paid for the faulty stock from the factory. Months long payment terms ensure that you can review product before paying for it.
She also shouldnt have had one factory supplying all of her bestsellers, you need to have a diversified supply chain. The factory took advantage of her lack of knowledge.
If influencers are going to launch brands, they need to stick to the marketing and leave the logistics, production etc to the experts with experience. Emma Grede is the driving force behind Skims success and has run many successful businesses before she starting working with Kim Kardashian.
Honestly she was horrendous! I wanted to turn off just because of her. She kept talking about herself so much and it was irritating. She just repeated herself constantly and deffo dragged the whole thing outThe way I knew the host would be grace beverley just from hearing they were insufferable![]()
She does this every single time. She did a podcast with the House of CB founder, and all she did was talk about herself and her own business. Same when she interviewed Jess Hunt. So annoying.Honestly she was horrendous! I wanted to turn off just because of her. She kept talking about herself so much and it was irritating. I don’t know how she gets guests on, I mean I’ll be honest I’ve never heard of her but I won’t be tuning in to watch anything else cause she was insufferableShe does this every single time. We have weights for all our stock at my company on the system. When a shipment comes and is scanned in 200g different than expected, the logistics team have to open the pallet and individually check product. It could be that stock is missing (eg 90 units shipped rather than 100) or inferior material used (polyester rather than silk). There was mention some fabric was lighter, even if it had been in cellophane, surely you would have noticed the weight difference
