I did actually read last night that the make-up photo was from a makeover session she had as a mother-daughter girly treat with her real mum. So my assumptions about it yesterday were totally wrong and I guess I'd rather that photo, from a time she was happy, was used rather than the hijab ones where her eyes look desperate and we know it was covering bruises.
Ohh that’s a totally different perspective, I’m so pleased she did have some joy. Thank you.

How did the mother not know if they were having makeover sessions? Maybe there were no visible injuries during their contact, but surely, as a mother, she'd be able to tell from her beautiful daughter's demeanour that she was suffering. It's just heartbreaking

I just listened to the 999 call and I don’t think he’s actually crying or upset. I think he’s putting it on. When he says ‘36 hours ago’ the ‘crying’ slips.

It struck me as genuine, the breath hitching and hyperventilation is quite hard to fake, try it yourself and you'll see.

I think he is upset, he wouldn't have called 999 in the first place if he wasn't affected by it. And I think that's another thing that's hard for us normies to accept, which is that evil people are just as complex as non-evil people. They can also feel sadness and remorse and all the rest of it, see Dennis Nilsen who wept bitterly over some of his victims, there are very few people who are straight up 100% evil all the time. It's just that there are some acts which are so evil that they cancel out everything else about a person, and torturing a little child to death is definitely one of those things.

I wasn’t saying he wasn’t affected by it. I just feel that that part of the call was different.

He had to report it, even with what he or his wife had done, they couldn’t just leave Sara’s body there indefinitely until they decided to come home again.

Mmmmm I don't know, murderers aren't generally in the habit of calling the police to report their own crimes, I mean absolutely I know some do for example James Ruppert, but it's highly unusual. I would be interested to know if Batool knew he had done that.

I did wonder if it was a picture her mum took, hence looking more 'westernised' and it's also the picture her mum is holding when she was interviewed after Sara died.

Well we don't know exactly when that pic was taken, as regards to the abuse it seems like it really ramped up and accelerated in April in the months leading up to her death, which isn't unusual in these cases you have a period of time where things aren't great but are just about OK and then it all ramps up horrifically. We don't know whether Sara's mum was in her life for those few months, I bet she wasn't. I feel so sorry for her mum, I honestly don't know how I would cope knowing that one of my children had suffered and died that way, it would completely destroy my mind and soul tbh.

There’s a man in the background of her phoning the travel agent, prompting her with some questions

Yeah I heard that. She sounded so calm compared to Sharif in his call. The children sounded distressed - they will be utterly traumatised.

It could be lack of sleep 😞

Not sure if it's already been talked about but those messages from the step mum to her sister about the dad beating Sarah, was it really her doing all the beating? I've not read too much about this case for obvious reasons. Poor Sara 😔
I think the Dad was just as guilty, I think that she might have done most of it but he did too. Even if she murdered Sara and he's taking the blame he still sat back and watched for years. I wonder if any of them will give evidence, probably will and point blame at each other.

Had they been living in the property long? In the police body cam footage it looked pretty spotless for a house with multiple young kids, like an unlived in kind of look.

Bet you anything they did a clean up to try to 'get rid of evidence' but being stupid they failed to realise that the rozzers have higher tech microscopes than they could ever imagine and therefore the evidence of their monstrosity was everywhere

This explains why not much reporting today, the injuries are taking hours to go through.
Horrific.

I don’t know what the answer is, but there’s got to be more that SS can do, although of course needs more funding and more people. But to close a case for someone who isn’t engaging (I think in the twins fire case) is obviously not the way to do it.

But that’s why (in my opinion) it’s so important that everyone reports it if they have concerns, the more it’s on the radar, the more reasons services have for intervening.
What can you do? Many people do forward their concerns but get told to shut up because of "cultural sensitivities"
I reported someone to safeguarding he was telling people at work about the virtues of FGM and how women get too excited having a clit.
He had daughters!!!
I reported him but manager shut it down due to fear of offending or appearing racist.

There's no scientific basis for cutting someone's clitoris off it's barbaric there's a real inherent risk of having your career ruined and being made unemployed for simply saying your concerns.
There's no comeback from being accused of racism at work , promotion opportunities gone.
A real change needs to happen.

She had internal bleeding, bleeding around the brain, severe bruising across the top of her chest.

The pain she must have been in makes me feel sick.

They clearly put the nappy on her because she couldn’t move. Probably unconscious (hopefully, a small mercy).

Then they cleaned the house and left.

They left for a country with which the UK has no extradition treaty.

They left for a country where they thought they could hide. Where they hid their children and their family lied about it.

They removed the ring doorbell. That was a deliberate action.

He told police he’d left his house key under the doormat. He planned that. He planned to leave the key so they could gain access.

Upset or not and at his hand or not he did those things.
Calm or not and at her hand or not she did those things.

They should never see freedom again.

Her spinal injuries probably meant she became incontinent beasts.

I've followed many cases, and read so many horrific details but still this case is having the ability to shock me. I feel quite nauseous.
I find the thought of a little girl, in pain, terrified, with no one to love and care for her in this world just too much to bear.
Poor little Sara x
