I thought the father had a job as a taxi driver ? Surely you'd need to be able to speak English to do this role ?
I read they were worried their children might be brought up by Jews or another religious family in care and this is why they also fled as well as being judged for being Muslim but , isn't this exactly what they're doing here ?
Unbelievably cold and arrogant

I’ve got no sympathies towards the accused but it is only right and proper that an interpreter has been used if English is not their first language. The words we use for everyday life are very different to the phrases etc used in legal proceedings. Also, being caught out as a murderer is about as stressful as it gets and in times of stress people will want to communicate in their usual spoken language. As others have said, it’s for the best that nobody is able to claim they didn’t have charges etc explained in a way they could understand, and proof needs to be obtained that they’ve been able to tell their (made up) story in their own (lying) words.

The interpreter will be present for arse-covering purposes. Sharif can't reel out sob stories in court of being forced to sign documents or answer questions he didn't fully understand.

The interpreter is just becuase English isn't their first language, plain and simple. There will be a lot of legal jargon and as others have said, it's best they can't claim they didn't underratand x o y when being charged.

It doesn't change anything nor give them any advatage. Theyre still murderers.

Am calling BS on the two men needing an interpreter (assuming they are the two defendants who requested it).
Sara’s Dad was a local taxi driver. I live in Woking, his English is more than adequate.

I was thinking where do I recognise him from? He’s the lawyer that’s always on 24 hours in police custody
Yes, that’s him.
---
It also removes the possibility of claiming at a later date they didn’t understand the question etc.

It's not so much about it being adequate to communicate. It has to be outstanding to understand all the legal and possibly even medical jargon. Not everyone whose mother language isn't English will be at that level.

Some new photos of Sara have been released by the police. It disturbs me how different they are to the photos previously released of her.

I thought those earlier photos seemed edited/FaceTuned etc, and they made me feel very uncomfortable, as why would you do that to a little girl?

I did think the makeup she was wearing could have been real, but now I think it could possibly be a filter.

Such a sad case, poor Sara, how does this keep happening?

The contrast in the pictures stuck me too. I find little girls being dressed ‘modestly’ just as uncomfortable as those with the make up, but agree that those look filtered.

Poor wee girl. Her step mother doesn't wear hijab and her dad wasn't noted to be especially observant. I have a horrible feeling she was made to wear hijab to cover bruises. To be so deliberately isolated and then for her father and step mum to just leave her body there and try to save their own skins along with her uncle. I hope she knew love and happiness in her little short life

I saw a picture of the other children from a tweet from Pakistan and her brother looks so sad and so much like her
It's heartbreaking

These poor children must be so confused. The upset of leaving their home, likely knowing what happened to Sara, and being miles away from friends and anyone they saw regularly in the UK.
One other child is Sara’s full sibling, wonder whether their mother is trying to regain custody.
