Sounds really badly handled, left with lights down for 20minutes (presumably to try and talk him back on) then cancelled. Given the history and near the anniversary it is particularly bad.

So they only did 4 songs? Or shows?

They remind me so much of Jess Glynne - I can’t really imagine anyone being a true fan

4 songs according to Twitter. Tech was blamed, then apparently voice health issues.
Seems to be that he was planning on bringing in Madonna as well? I dunno, sounds like the cancellation would be a blessing if you asked me 😂

So utterly self-absorbed. But if this marks the moment of crisis to set him on the path to rehabilitation then bring it on. Things couldn’t continue as they were; he has so obviously been unwell.

Completely agree this is bizarre behaviour and poor given the timing, but just a reminder that Sam’s pronouns are they/them!

I pinched my nose shut and waded in here just to say my opinion on this person and the associated antics: Ewww.
Leaving immediately before something gross sticks to my leg, or something. Ewww.

Was his voice really that bad? Saw a few TikTok’s that were up tonight and he sounded great.

Very disappointing for anyone that travelled, booked time off work etc.

I wonder if people will still be able to get a refund after C**t/P***k did 4 songs 🤔

Had friends who were there - 4 songs - lights went out while they were singing. Venue asked everyone to stay put while it was resolved. Couldn’t - so gig cancelled. I see that they’ve said it was vocal issues now.

There has been criticism elsewhere - not on here - about people were stopped from leaving while venue were trying resolve issues.
Reasons for stopping people leaving include - invalidated any refund. If you leave a gig during the gig for any reason there’s no refund - even if it’s stopped. Until the venue / promoter say it’s cancelled - it’s not cancelled.

Safety - emptying a venue the size of the Manchester Arena requires planning & resources - it’s different to an evacuation and usually involves police & transport police ( given its near a railway station & centre of the city) it can take a bit of time to mobilise if earlier than expected but not an emergency.

As a regular gig goer, event staff are always brilliant & not on loads of £££. Some of them were likely on a break 4 songs in so it annoys me that people elsewhere are slagging them off for not “knowing what was going on etc etc especially so close to the anniversary of the attack” Linking it too the attack is just wrong in my eyes when staff were trying to do their job.

Lots of good info, thank you for sharing!
Must have been disappointing for all those people.

I didn’t realise it’s a world wide tour with dates up until November, if Sam’s voice is already mashed or whatever is happening then they’ll sack off more dates as well.

I’ll be interested to see how refunds go as the gig technically went ahead. This is going to be a PR nightmare.

I still think it was a hissy fit.🤷‍♀️

In terms of emptying the arena, how would it be any different to when a gig ends as planned and everyone's trying to get out at the same time? 🤔

Cos they know in advance what time the concert will end and have staff already in position. When it ends randomly, there’ll be a lead time to get the staff organised. There are a minimum number on the stairs etc during a gig, when there’s not much movement, but many more during exit to keep it safe.

Ah okay! Any gig I've been to in my nearest arena has just been a free for all when leaving, never any staff around other than at the outside doors.
