Sali Hughes #73 Not insulted or annoyed or offended or anything

lol she’s so devoid or self awareness or irony that her column this week is about bleach-ravaged hair bonds.

Which she ONLY is a literal expert about because she’s looked at bonds under a microscope. In her special pretend science lab coat (with her pretend science BIG PEN), no doubt.

✍🏻 “roof tiles” “jagged” “rain”.

Well quite, Sali. View attachment 3960306

We wouldn’t want to delight in trial by twitter rather than allowing due process, would we? Just ask ‘face of a murderer’ Christopher Jefferies. View attachment 3960307
And there we have a perfect example as why trash outlets such as the guardian and the BBC are desperate to call tattle the worst website on the internet.

How dare we have uncomfortable receipts of what their chums said?! Shut them down. Evil trolls!

This is so hilariously pompous and patronising by both her and Chanel, as if the silly little women will be fooled and none of them could ever actually be scientists or anything approaching a scientist, or have any idea about scientific qualifications beyond 'white coat = authority figure'. Straight out of the 1950s marketing playbook. In 2025. 🙄

Also patronising the way they've written "Sali" (and, I imagine all the names of the other attendees) in that tweely pretty little cursive font. Cutesy dress-up for grownups.

I think the Chanel pic is from something in the past.

Just so I know I’m following, am I right in saying “scalp is skin, hair is tiled roof” or am I doing science wrong?

Hotes, you need to put on a white coat, otherwise it's just totally impenetrable for us ladies. Best stick to buying with hubby's money.

The Chanel pic is just one of the multiple times she's worn a branded lab coat, of course. Can't forget the Clinique appearance.

Some observations on the hair column:
  • You can't see bonds with a microscope (they're at an atomic level). I imagine that what she's looked at under a microscope is the hair's cuticle which consists of overlapping scale-like cells.
  • I've read that description of cuticle cells being like roof tiles countless times over the past half century of reading beauty articles.
  • You don't have to undress and get under the shower to wet your hair. You can wet your hair at the sink or with a jug of water.
  • I'm always surprised when she mentions shaving her legs. I had mine lasered 26 years ago and am thrilled that I did.
  • The brand 98 Beauty was founded by her friend, fellow influencer, Lorna Luxe (not that you'd know that from the article).
  • She manages to use her friend's brand - with its 20 minute wait time - despite not being able to use Olaplex because of its 20 minute wait time.
  • I think she's wrong to say that Living Proof 'can still lay claim to the lowest effort bond repair treatment of all'. With K18 you just wash your hair and apply the product - you don't have to heat activate as you do with the LP version. I think I'm right in saying that she was once paid to promote the LP product.

She’s been paid several times to promote the LP, including that paid partnership with the ravaged hair in early 2024. Then there are all the other times the just did it out of the goodness of her heart.

Am realising quite how naive I've been about how brands carpet bomb influencers with landfill, which ends up being undisclosed.
