Have you heard her cover of good luck, babe in the live lounge? Stripped back her vocals are very very goodShe isn't, she's shit with that ridiculous baby voice style of singing she usually adopts.
I always used to think it said sell honey honey honeySame here I was only 12horny horny horny tonight
Saw somebody say It gives casting couch, and i agree. Also Bonnie Blue vibes. The grey hair and suit is a purposeful choice. It’s an older man touching a young woman, dressed like a child while she’s prone and vulnerable on the bed wearing considerably less clothing. It’s fucking disgusting how normalised this shit is in porn, but to have it seeping out into the everyday, in front of literal children is tragic.
I wouldn’t say it’s more sexual, maybe because you were younger you didn’t pick up on what they were singing about. Eg some popular artists/songs from that era :I grew up on late 90s and early to mid 00s R&B and Pop music. Is it just me or has music come to be a lot more sexualised? It was never perfect, but back then it was more about the voices and music videos were more creative, or if not particulary creative, they were simple and effective. Nowadays it's all about sex sells rather than pure talent. I dunno, as I say, maybe it's just me.
For example, this is a music video from Amerie in 2002. It has that iconic early 00s feel, and even though she's not fully clothed, she keeps it classy and simple.
enjoy! her show looks like so much fun - i love how much she commits to that whole 50s pinup vibe. i don’t even know how people think it’s overtly sexy because she does it in such a betty boop oops oh me?I’m off to see her tonight. I don’t care, I think she’s fun and her songs are good old-fashioned catchy pop. Some people take everything so seriously. The parents complaining about her antics on stage (The Brits etc) should maybe try listening to her music before they let their children. It’s really not for young children.
sabrina can actually sing though this is what frustrates me. The boys/ men she’s marketing towards don’t care about her other than something to look at and they certainly don’t take her seriously as an artist. The teen audience for innuendoes will get old fast and move on to the next thing. She can’t keep the Betty boop thing going forever. It’ll get dated really quick. Katy Perry was also marketed in a similar way and used to perform in the same same oopsy woopsy I’m just a little cutsie out here making giggly innuendos for the boys while winking at the camera. She couldn’t sustain that act and look at where she is now
I get the point you're trying to make but I disagree. Individually? Maybe (though definitely not babydoll nighties which afaik have always been under the category of lingerie, no?) in their individual context but in the context of an adult woman wearing stripper shoes and a risqué outfit, I don't view it as childish innocent dressing in the slightest because context is everything. I also don't view it as a "sexual 'adult' tweak" because I don't associate those things with children when they're on a grown woman. The ‘sexy baby’ thing is again, another disgusting purposeful choice by her and her team. Hearts, bows, pastels, babydoll nighties, white ankle socks are all things you’d associate with childish, innocent dressing, but Sabrina does it with a sexual ‘adult’ tweak. The fact that she is also very diminutive in stature (under 5ft I think) only adds to this. Her actions also lean towards this - her hand covering her mouth in that ‘oops’ pose again and again is very childish. You just need to go onto pornhub and look for the content that caters for men with that kink. Women looking like young girls and it follows the same formula as Sabrina with physique, clothing and actions. It’s disgusting and if you can’t see that, you’re probably as porn-sick as most men are.
I have to disagree with the ‘if the music was good’ line, there is plenty of good music out there that is undiscovered and unfortunately, she’s only gotten bigger since she leaned in to being overly sexual and playing the fame game. As others have said, emails I can’t send has much better songs than her two recent singles but wasn’t nearly as successfulShe looks like such a try hard with all the stuff about her showbiz relationship coming out at the same time as her album. If the music was good she wouldn't need to do this. It would be better to have a hit album based on it's merit rather than because of trashy PR.
