The problem with this is other people; the people she will have to work with, teach, speak to, and answer to various random questions during said tour. There is a very social connection between guide and tourist. What happens when she is nervous and stumbles over her words, or gives out the wrong information and gets corrected by a tourist, or when a tourist knows more than she does, or asks a question she doesn't know the answer to? I have done this kind of work when I was younger and you really need to focus on studying up, constantly, on the historic period, the area, the person, place, environ, everything, and know it inside out. You have to be able to speak clearly and loudly enough without a mic, and really present yourself, neatly and with decorum. You will have people from all over the world coming to your tours and need to prepare for the know-it-alls that will be dispersed in the tours, as well. And yes, you also have to be able to drive back and forth to your place of employment, rush through lunch, stand on your feet all day, and preferably not speak with your hands, but rather with your intelligence. Something she is highly lacking in. Her problems with anxiety and social gatherings would completely hinder her from being able to execute this kind of job. I think talking constantly, in front of people, day after day, would exhaust her. Another reason why I also cannot imagine her in teaching, at any level.
She's got the opportunity of a lifetime with the YouTube thing, to be her own boss and work as much or as little as she wants doing whatever she wants. Unfortunately, she has no interests or imagination and therefore has no idea what to do now she's no longer doing her GCSEs. She's so clearly got no interest in either studying or reading and that channel, which should be the key to her continued fortune for as long as YouTube exists, is just going to go down the drain. The other studytubers have adapted to some kind of adult life and theme, for better or worse and she's just stuck play acting like she's still in school for an audience that are too old for school or too young to care about a 20-something still cosplaying as them.

I work in a place like this and I really don’t think she’d be able to handle just how rude people can be. It’s a very thankless job at times, you are often invisible to guests so they feel they can treat you as part of the furniture. Just this week I was called a b*tch because I told someone not to move a piece of furniture
you also have to know how to meet people at their level, and importantly when to stop talking (because shockingly, not everyone is as interested in the subject as you), and I think Ruby would just rattle on and on. So I really think she would struggle with the fact that some people just don’t care as much as her, and that she’ll probably have people who don’t thank her/worship the ground she walks on lolOn this point, I think Ruby would benefit from spending some time working with members of the public. Facebook memories threw me this today and it felt very apt.
Not that I wish this treatment on anyone but Ruby is so incredibly sheltered that she would benefit from working a normal retail job or anything that puts you face to face with any customer, just to get out of her own head a bit.

i was going to say this too. I used to be quite shy and getting into a job basically forced me out of my comfort zone and to deal with these situations
So I’m sure she would benefit at least a bitI would agree so much with this, especially with being autistic myself. I felt that working in a petrol station and working the tills at Morrisons forced me into my comfort zone and basically taught me how to interact with people especially with all these small repetitive interactions. Even if she did some volunteering in a charity shop would do her so much good. Social skills are a muscle that needs to worked in order to grow.i was going to say this too. I think Ruby would also benefit from speaking to people who aren't exactly like her. She tends to have friends who have the exact same interests as her, are posh girls. Not to mention her desire to have her followers as her penpals. I could see Ruby struggling to make conversation with someone who's of a different economic bracket than her or didn't go to university.
Nah what the hell
Anything that would make her think of something besides play-acting and learn to be responsible, work with and under people, would be such a help to her, but she has constantly swayed away from this kind of opportunity. Again, she didn't even last a year at her simple job as an assistant librarian at her old school. That is hardly a challenging job. This is something, as an American, I just can't wrap around my head. We can't wait to be of a working age and get as many hours as we can, so we can start making our own money and gain independence. I started with baby-sitting my neighbour's kids. Then it was on to working at horse farms and local nurseries, a gift shop that eventually I managed. I always had a job to come home to during university vacations and summer jobs. I had a job lined up to begin 3 days after my graduation. I needed money, I needed health and dental insurance, to pay rent, to save up for a car, as luckily, until then, I was able to take the bus to work. Financially she is set to be able to do anything, yet she continues to lock herself away in her bubble of a tiny bedroom. It is so twisted. She isn't growing, at all. Such a stunted life and personality.
Quick fyi that it isn’t an American thing to get a job at 16 a want one. This is uncommon for England (how ruby behaves) myself and all my friends got jobs at 16. She’s just odd, it’s not an English thing lol

Does anyone else follow Jess Bacon? She’s also a writer who lived at home well into her late 20s but the difference between her and Ruby is like chalk and cheese. She seems much more balanced and mature than Ruby, not living in a deluded fantasy world
