Is it worth reading for Oxford Nostalgia? I watched a couple episodes of the TV show (one fairly early on in Oxford, and one where she had gone back in time to like the elizabethan/tudor period but somehow found tight leather trousers) because my mum and dad watched them, and was (unjustifiably) hung up on what I perceived as inaccuracies. Like, you can't be rowing/running on Christchurch Meadow that late in the evening. And you can't be whispering in the bod, where are all the dPhil students giving dirty looks?I can't wait until she finds out The Discovery of Witches is actually the first of a trilogy and focuses less on Oxford Dark Macademia and more about blood, violence, lust and forbidden love.
Get used to that cardigan because it will feature in every videoThe striped tights and star cardigan outfit was terrible--I think I wore something similar when I was 6 and that was just because I liked the individual pieces. That said, I did think the little braids she had in the room decorating clips were quite cute and the braids she had for her outfits looked good as well. Maybe she is branching out in the hairstyling department like we have always said she should.

Yes she read Brideshead Revisited but only liked the first part. She thought it went downhill after that. The first part being Oxford with punting, tea and Sebastian with his teddy bear. Then it is relationships and religion which she patently could not be bothered withI very much enjoyed Brideshead Revisited for the Oxford Nostalgia, even though that's only the very early part of that book. She claims to have read that I think.
I just stopped the video and came here for this reason ^^ English is my second language, therefore I thought that maybe the type of a novel excludes all the other books Kafka has written, but no.In her new video she talks about her autumn TBR and one of the books she wants to read is Kafka's The Castle about which she initially says "I believe this is his only novel". Then we see her google something and "correcting" herself by affirming that Kafka only wrote two novels, The Castle and The Trial...
I was a bit bewildered hearing this from a literature student (and a self-proclaimed BOOKWARM and DARK ACADAYMIK), so much so that I (also a literature student) began doubting myself and thinking "wait, is Amerika not considered a novel but a novella?". I thought it was a longish book but I haven't read it so I googled it and... I don't know why I doubted myself instead of Ruby.
She almost certainly just read the beginning of the Wikipedia entry on Kafka and somehow, in her mind, the sentence "His best known works include the novella The Metamorphosis and novels The Trial and The Castle" meant that he only wrote two novels, one of which – arguably his most famous work (or at least on par with The Metamorphosis) – she didn't know.

What do you want her to say about it that hasn't already been said far more eloquently by somebody who actually knows what they're talking about? World peace isn't dependant on whether or not Ruby fumbles her way through some very basic facts she gathered from chatgpt five minutes before filming while offering no real opinion of her own because the inside of her head is just the thought equvilant of elevator music.Has Ruby said anything about Gaza?

I don't know what the crap she actually said that her neighbors were using, but surely they have every right to spend their time doing what they want in their own home?

I mean, I didn’t go to Oxford, I went to Exeter (20 years ago next year, bloody hell) but I think the first few chapters would be worth it for Oxford Nostalgia. Honestly I just quite enjoy the books anyway, easy to read and entertaining. Wouldn’t claim that they’re the most intelligent things I’ve ever read but I did enjoy them. Because she used to enjoy making videos. She was never good at it, but she at least made an effort in the "Hermione does" era to make them fun, visually appealing, and unique. Now they're just a means to make money that she seems to actively resent having to do. Personally, I think youtube is actively preventing her personal growth and if she had to go out, get a real job, and interact with people her own age more regularly she would be a lot more happier and mentally stable. But, alas, she is super lazy so she will keep clinging to this thing that clearly no longer serves her just so she doesn't have to be uncomfortable for a single moment.How have her videos managed to decrease in quality in the past 6 years?
