She briefly mentioned her appointment with her therapist, but not sure why it would still be remote. There is no need for that. Most therapists would prefer to see you in person.
During/after covid, therapists realised they can utilise zoom for accessibility for patients with high anxiety or other disabilities that can make it harder/not possible for them to visit in person. It also can be used for people who live further away but want or need to see a specific therapist. I see my therapist via zoom (before covid I was seeing her in person) but since Ruby regularly traverses the globe with no issue I don’t see there being any reason for zoom sessions other than laziness or not wanting travel and waiting time to eat into her pretend productivity time

I was googling Ruby granger lockdown letters because she said she had them published right? So doesn’t that mean we (public) should be able to read them?? And I saw an article about how Emma Watson is starting Oxford in 2023 doing a creative writing masters and it mentioned Ruby.
I have questions.
Does Ruby know this?
Could this have influenced her decision or would it have been too late by then? The articles all seem to be written in May 2023.
Why hasn’t Ruby said anything about it?
Also which English course is Ruby taking? Would there be a chance of them being in the same class?

The most infuriating thing is that no one in her comment section will notice and nothing will change.

I'm waiting for the day controversy and backlash finally get to her and we get an apology video from her. That will be funny.

What really got me in the planner video was when one of her goals or something (sorry I didn’t take a screenshot just remembered when I was scrolling through here) she wrote ‘spend more time with family and Blakeney’ which was weird to me! Why not write ‘spend more time with family and friends’? Is it because she doesn’t have any other friends aside from blakeney? Or is it because she’s infatuated by blakeney? If I was dating someone or obsessed with them I would probably write it like that too.

Ruby posted a quote from 1984 as though it were a cheerful ode to the joys of reading. She missed the point entirely and didn't seem to grasp that 1984 is a satire or that the quote wasn't intended as a positive until many people pointed it out to her. Most people quickly realised she hadn't read the book at all.

View attachment 2329086

She got roasted for it and then made it worse with a moronic follow-up post where she confirmed that she hadn't even read 1984, had just grabbed a random quote from Goodreads, and her getting the very clear meaning of Orwell's writing completely wrong was okay ACKSHUALLY, because the quote could be interpreted many ways.

But she hasn't learned from that experience and keeps doing it time and time again. She'll blatantly just Google "literary quotes about [blank]" and slap them on an Instagram post to appear like her mind is an endless stockpile of memorised passages from books she's read, and every time she screws something up and gives away that she never reads any of what she claims.
Thank you for the recap of the 1984 incident!
That’s just so so embarrassing, especially as a self proclaimed “book YouTuber”.

What does she mean, she can't believe they're launching today? If she were really in charge of the company, she would have been in charge of the launch. She's been making these planners for years, it shouldn't have come as some sort of amazing surprise. She sounds like a little schoolgirl, not like a grown-up woman in charge of her own professional business.
She has a new "GAT RADDY WITH ME" TikTok up in which she promotes the planner launch with the exact same spiel as every other time:

OIY RON THE BUSINESS. OIY DESOIGNED THE PLANNER MOIYSALF. IT'S THE BASST PLANNER AVVER AND SYOOTS AWL MOIY NEEDS.

But then she says a bunch of nonsense that only hammers home that she'd never had anything to do with the business beyond marketing and emailing the product manager with a list of bad spread ideas and childish doodles.

"Oiy'm planning on dyooing a full storytoiyme of...(waves claw hand around)...how oiy stahhted the comm-panieeee? Becoss...it's changed a LOT over the yehhrs. Syo whan oiy FARST started making the acadammick planners...oiy did it with anothha comm-panny and it was koind of...(waves hands around)...a collaborative thing? Bot now oiy RON THE COM-PANNIE INSTAD. And oiy wahhhrk as paahhrt of an INCRADDIBOL TYEAM. Bot it has been a laahrning carve becoss oiy've koind of been thryown in at the deep and with it? Omm... Bot oiy've lahhrned syo moch alraddy. Even josst in the space of a yahhr."

None of her stories make any sense and she can't keep anything straight. She's always claimed she ran the business, designed everything, girlbossed it singlehandedly, etc., then she admitted she'd worked with a designer, but quickly went back to claimed she did it all herself. Now she's saying she didn't run things at all and took over control later? And she's been thrown in the deep end the past year, even though the company has been all but dead for the last year and the new planner is a carbon copy of the last one? It certainly doesn't tally with all the lies she's told in the past.

The only thing I believe might have changed is that Sixteenth wanted to pull the plug when they shut down Jack Edwards' store at the beginning of the year, but Ruby talked them into keeping it open for one last crappy cash grab. They presumably told her she'd have to finance it, market it solo, etc., and she'd need to pitch in more because they had no faith in it and weren't going to front the costs. I do not believe for a second that she's actually running the business, handling logistics, managing a team, etc.

Multiple shots of Blakeney in the first 45 seconds.
"...Foive PRE-SANT off..."
Waterstones sponsor-begging.
Performative kindness. She AWLWHEYS wroyte thankyouu cards, AVVERY SINGOL DAY!
Claimed to be a huge Sherlock Holmes/BBC Sherlock fan. Doesn't know how to pronounce "Holmes" ("Hollums?").
Jump cuts, overlapping audio and distracting background noise everywhere. NO SECOND TAKES, HOW DAAEER YOOO SOJJAST THAT!

My favourite part, though, is that Ruby now claims that she AWHLWHEYS keeps her planner inside a protective padded "bookvelope" and that is JANUINELY why hers stays miraculously pristine for and entire year of ACKSHUAL YEESE. She has done this for YAAAHRS, even though it made no appearance in previous "WOT IS IN MOIY BAHHG?" videos. It's HONNASTLEEE not been thrown in now because she doesn't actually use the planner herself and keeps it in a drawer until it's time to advertise it, and then she'll scribble some vague bullshit or virtue-signalling fake activities in a random date for an Instagram photo, you can be VARRY SURE OF THAT!

It seems to me that Ruby's inflated opinion of self is so contrary to her actual abilities. Her 'embroidery' 'painting' 'cooking' and 'book binding' efforts are all so woeful. There's no practice made perfect here. I think she assumes brilliance at all things just because of academic success. Threads here suggest the majority of us do not perceive her as brilliant or in anyway academically gifted. Her use and understanding of English for a native speaker yet alone one who studied English to degree level is, like her craft efforts, woeful. I'm not pretending any kind of brilliance but I do know what a candlestick is. I am able to pronounce most words as they should be said. I can make a cuppa without noise or mess. I can bake or cook things without burning them. I know the only way to improve a newly acquired skill is to practice it or learn from someone who already has that skill. I have (I hope) a realistic opinion of self and unlike Ruby I do not assume skill in every conceivable sphere of life. In fact v much the opposite my attempts at the cha cha would benefit from much practice and even then I'm not altogether hopeful. To get an idea of how awful I was my cha cha, skill wise, is on par with Ruby's embroidery skills. Yup, my cha cha was that bad - haha.

Hi, lurker here, sorry for asking this out of the blue, but can you guys recommend other youtubers who have a similar aesthetic to Ruby's without being as frustrating as she is? I mean stuff like fountain pens, long country walks, vintage books with yellowed pages, etc
https://www.youtube.com/@emmiereads Canadian booktuber that is very down to earth and finishing her 4 year degree. She likes classics, but she doesn't pretend to like every classic like Ruby does. My only criticism of Emma is that sometimes she rates books that are seen as "trashy" low even if she enjoyed reading them. She used to do a lot more nature walks, but her bf got a job in Toronto, so they live in the city now. She still takes frequent trips home when there's a lot more mountains and greenery because she really enjoys being out in nature.

I think it's shameful that people who have as much time on their hands as Ruby and her family do, and the means to hire a cleaning service if they need to, keep their house in such a state. The average family with both parents working full time and no adult children to share the load still has time to at least maintain a living space that's not a health hazard. I'm not a clean freak either but you have to draw the line somewhere. They're just a bunch of lazy slobs honestly.

Re: Recent Rube the tube's lengthy trip to Italy can someone explain why was she nervous travelling with her best friend? Am I missing something? Why was she nervous? I mean as she constantly tells us she was going with her bestest friend who she lived with whilst at Uni. She's more irritating than a gnat in a tent.
I imagine it's because despite living together at uni, they spent very little extended time together. Blakeney got to escape to see other friends (when Ruby wasn't inviting herself along and claiming them as her own friends) and had her own extracurricular jobs, while Ruby ran home for extended periods of time every week.

On holiday together, they're stuck together. Despite Ruby spending the last year shouting her "MOIY BASST FRANNND BLAKENEEEEE" catchphrase, that's always seemed a very one-sided thing. Blakeney seemed absolutely sick to death of Ruby by the end of uni, so I'm guessing Ruby was nervous that they'd run out of things to talk about, that it would get awkward, or that she'd drive Blakeney crazy and never see her again.

I just can't believe she is doing such childish videos like this. What is in my back to school bag? Come on, Ruby. For effing sake, grow up. You are a 23 year old women. She is just so cringe and featherbrained. I can't even imagine this person attending Oxford. I hope she drowns there. She needs a severe reality check.

She could never hack it as a teacher. The only kind of teaching she could do would be in an independent school (aka private), where you don’t actually have to have a qualification in order to get a teaching position - but even this is fairly rare, and not in core subjects like English. She’d have a very, very hard time finding a job. The sort of people who tend to get unqualified teacher roles in private schools are generally those who did in-demand subjects like classics.

And, most importantly, I assume that if someone points out you're doing something wrong, you act like an adult about it instead of reacting like an 8 year old being bullied on the playground.

it irritates me to no end that throw money at english influencers like ruby to send them up to the fringe when we have plenty of scottish creators here who could do an infinitely better job. i’m sure jean menzies has been mentioned in the threads before but she’s from edinburgh and actually cares about the areas of history she specialises in & content she puts out.
I came here to write this! I've just spent the last couple of weeks searching around to find reasonable travel and accomodation to visit Edinburgh next year, off-peak, for the first time. Still not cheap, then you have Ruby who gets gifted (and paid) for a second trip!

I hereby wager that it will contain that clip of her with the pale blue shirt and hair in ponytail, where she is in a seminar class from her school days. I bet it will be part of a montage showing her studying in several locations.

If it is not included I may actually be disappointed.
I hereby predict that it will contain the clip from the singular occasion she studied in the library at Exeter.

Regarding her most recent video, I don't see an issue taking the taxi to and from work? I work nights and I don't drive. Also, I hate walking home in the dark so I book a taxi to pick me up when I finish my shift. I really dont see the issue?
Fair enough, unless taxis are prohibitively expensive where you live (like they would be for me). Also Roobee’s job (such as it was) took place in the middle of the day, not at night. At a very walkable distance, too.
