Why is she moving a black piece despite having white pawns 😭 how is that a chess game without any piece of an opponent 😭 how is that a chess game without any king 😭 if she doesn't know basic chess rules, why doesn't she ask anyone for help to set up a realistic game 😭 why does she always think nobody else notices😭 why am I feeling so desperate even though it shouldn't matter 😭
My first thought omg. She is touching her opponent's piece. But she probably doesn't even know how to play chess. Ugh she is ridiculous

That was my first thought, too. I Googled "carlisle jumper" and it looks like there is a brand called Carlisle who sell really expensive ($300+ per jumper) women's clothing though, so maybe that's what she meant.

They're not a househould brand that many people have heard of as far as I'm aware, so my SponsorSense is telling me they gifted her the jumper ages ago and it's an undeclared ad. Her saying "it's the thickest Carlisle jumper I own" implies she owns multiple, but who knows what Ruby means with her tenuous grasp of the English language.

I mean, she keeps on talking about "the space between the eyes" when talking about being mindful, when I'm sure what she should be saying is "what's right in front of me". This is the second time she's said it this month. Unless she's literally just sat cross-eyed, counting the fake freckles on the bridge of her nose as a means of relaxation.

I think she meant Fairisle jumper due to the pattern.

Oh my god she's such an idiot, she's going on about how you miss the beauty in the language when watching Shakespeare's plays. Firstly, they're PLAYS, so they're intended to be performed. Secondly, they're saying the same words?? The performance of the language is still the language?? She's such a fake, it doesn't make you more of a literature lover because you literally prefer reading the words.
She is one of those kind of people who every time she opens her mouth just reiterates previous impressions that she's a dozy mare.

Thing is she could has pushed herself to go to writing classes or something similar, to hone her craft and get her draft more ready. She's not a writer, she's just a woman too scared to leave her bedroom so she writes fan fics to keep herself occupied. She hasn't got what it takes to be a good author.
That's an insult to those who write fanfic as there's thousands better than the young adult trollop and poetry that Ruby throws together! I think that Ruby's problem is that she refuses to take classes or anything and thinks that since she can read them she can write. She very much copies or is heavily 'inspired' by other books and poets that she has no original thought in her head. It's like she's so scared about failing or doing badly as an author that she doesn't want to take the chance and be original and copies Emily Dickinson ect or cobbles together ideas from other YA books.

You'd think that since she's such a huge HP fan that she had read some fics (or at least would have copied something 'dahrk macadamia'-esque) but it's all the same Matilda / Miss Peregrine 'gifted' child stuff

As far as I can remember, someone called her out on the board not making any sense, and she replied with something about ”this is just staged for the photo, we only play chess at night” 😂 In the dark? Where no one can see?
It pisses me off how she makes up the most lame excuses to try to cover her lies upon lies

The thumbnail says it all:

Her thumbnails on tiktok are such fails

Yup!

And don't forget her terrible chess short story, where she showed she doesn't understand how any of the pieces move or what pawns look like:

That piece of prose is bleeping terrible. It makes no sense at all. What does she mean 'we play chess at an eight by eight board, but outside the sky is grey. Not black, or white, but in between'. Does she mean we play it ON a board? And what does that have to do with a sky? This is actual trash.

If anything experiencing the plays how they were intended to be (recited on stage in front of an audience) to me is an infinitely better experience than just reading them.

Sorry I didn't mean to insult fanfic per se, just that Ruby 's level of writing is akin to terrible fanfic that she has never tried to improve on by going to writing classes or collaborate with other would-be writers for feedback etc.

Even terrible fanfic can improve due to consistency and feedback. Her writing is even worse than that!

No need to apologise about the fanfiction, I was trying to joke as I am a fanfic writer myself as a hobby, slightly embarrasing that I still do even at 25 as I started as a teenager ! While I don't write majestic works of prose like what Ruby likes to think that she does with her clobber, I think that it has helped me become slightly better at writing! Even if Ruby did fanfiction, she would impove over time as you do get feedback about what you write and you have to think about how to engage readers over the story, even if you are already using premade characters. There is a lot of world building some people do with AUs and some do real world building, but yet, Ruby just seems to have everything focused on schools and it's middle class characters like herself. She just seems to copy and paste ideas from other YA novels and is hoping to make something based off that. Even from what she writes and has shown us on instagram, it's purple prose where she is trying to sound very profound and is writing things that would be quotable- I don't know if anyone else gets that impression. I sometimes see it when I read fics and self published books.

I'm a fanfic writer too (I wish I had more time for it but sigh adult responsibilities) and I'm 24. A lot of great authors write fanfic too. The issue with Ruby is she writes fanfics about her being in school again and none of it is interesting 😂

Some of the finest writing I have seen were in obscure fanfics I came across on Ao3, Ruby wishes she were on the same level tbh.

This is crazy. Her new job is easily the most interesting thing she's done all year. Yet she chooses to not talk about it at all, why?? Is it possible she actually didn't get the job? Or it's completely different from what she expected and she's disappointed?

My guess is she doesn't like being treated as an adult and might be utterly failing at it.

I bet a few of the teachers have possibly mistaken her for a student and she loves it🤢 I have a baby face and I’m short so I get mistaken for someone much younger (I actually got ID for redbull today!😂) and it starts getting annoying at a point, especially since I feel like you don’t get taken seriously in certain situations.

I really can’t fathom wanting to regress into your childhood… adulthood is scary but with it comes independence, wisdom, and autonomy. I couldn’t imagine being Ruby’s age and still relying on your parents for absolutely everything, how frustrating is that?

Also I must mention if she even dares to post those ‘back to school’ videos this year I’ll lose it😂

Totally agree with this. Ruby's goal is always external validation and that's what's causing problems imo. This is what's behind her Oxford application too. I can believe she was a bookish child, but I don't think the interest has continued into adulthood - or maybe classics are simply not her thing? Fair enough if that's the case. If you're an advanced reader as a child you'll probably get positive feedback, but if you read Dostoyevsky as an adult it's unlikely anyone will care. I think she's found that transition difficult.

When it comes to writing, Ruby's still more concerned with success (as measured by prizes) and prestige (wanting a traditional publishing house) than any other factor. I think this is why her creative writing seems shallow & why it's a copy-paste of other YA bestsellers; Ruby wants the end goal but doesn't care how she gets there. I feel sorry for her because it seems like a joyless state of mind. Her writing might improve if she found a subject she genuinely wanted to talk about. (I can't use the word genuinely without feeling like Roobs, haha.)

The vaguer she is about it, the more room she has to embellish her role and how busy and important she is. Her fans will fill in the blanks and assume she's a teacher now when in reality she's likely just showing up a couple of days a week to sit in a class and pretend she's a child again while the actual teachers have to pick up her slack.

It's one of Ruby's most predictable tricks in her book of scams and she does it with anything even close to work. Her uni internships and her involvement with PONKIN' PODDUTIFFTY all followed the same play: She provides no details and is purposefully cagey because there's nothing going on and she's doing duck all, but her gullible fans will hear her talking about "waahrk" all the time and think she's out there juggling 6 careers.

Totally. English is not my first language so a lot of the little details or word plays would be lost to me until I saw the play. The work of the actor, their voice inflection, and the stage allowed me to fully understand the play.

Being a teacher is hard. You have to be highly independent, make decisions quickly and with wisdom, stay calm, cool and collected, and be a people person. Not an introvert who wants to still be a child, has panic attacks when with her own family, has her parents bringing her to work, never worked a regular job in her life, can hardly stand being away from home for a day, and far from being wise. Ruby is definitely over her head. Like everything else she probably had some crazy romantic view of doing this, only to find out how difficult it is to get kids to pay attention, be still, not fight, talk, etc., let alone the unexpected things like one of them throwing up in class or crying over something. She can't take care of herself. I've never heard her mention babysitting, yet she is with younger kids because she wishes she was still young. Now she can look into her own reflection and see how nice it is to grow up and out of these years of developing and move on with life! Work is work. It isn't play, it isn't a place to pretend to be someone else. The other teachers are probably giving her an earful and I still would not be surprised if she doesn't finish through to June like originally planned. Between that and hoping to get into Oxford for her Masters, she has put herself in a very tight and stressful situation. No matter what she puts on social media, I am certain she is really struggling with this.

I just can’t imagine her controlling a class, especially if some of the kids are extroverted and chatty. I think back to my school days, my teachers had to deal with some really rowdy classes, it’s definitely not a job for the feint hearted. I couldn’t do it.
